FBG Plans (1 Viewer)

I got in just in time!

I like and use all the tools, but boys I sure missed Dodds and his takes last season. The league dominator was not the same without him. One of the guys, I swear he tries to get the worst possible lineups, constantly pushing the next WW flop as a starter. And those calls affect the algorithm of the overall rankings. I would love to see accuracy rankings over the past several years. it would be a great advantage and a reality check for some.

I do spend too much time on this website, so I guess that 70$ would be pennies on the Canadian $.

Thank you for being open to suggestions and willing to listen.

So we have now have three plans here. https://www.footballguys.com/plans

Ahhhhh.... see that's actually a very fair breakout and not what was being represented in thread.

$47 for a standard plan with mobile apps included is a far price IMO. Hard not not expect IDP/DFS content to be an up-charge. It is at most every other site.

Nothingburger here...

I have no problem with the 3 tier pricing. The pricing seems very fair for the additional content you get with the upgraded plans. What I don't understand is why is the auction content considered some sort of premium feature? After the pre-season draft/auction an auction league is no different than a draft league. The content is exactly the same. That's not the case with IDP leagues, Dynasty leagues, Best ball leagues or the DFS contests.

And no offense but IMO basically having one staff member in Drew Davenport providing auction content doesn't justify the huge increase to get that content. His auction preparation articles didn't really provide any edge over any other auction content I can get anywhere else. His Mastering the Auction series of articles really didn't provide anything revolutionary or that isn't written anywhere else. Save money for the end of the auction, don't let a position get scarce, nominate players you feel are over-rated, etc. can be read anywhere. In addition, there were a total of 13 articles written last year on auction leagues. The average auction values and where you can gain value is nice but you are basically paying an additional $24 for these few articles. To me the auction content shoud be included in the Pro subscription.

Always been a Dynasty IDP guy, since my first league in the mid 90's. Tried redraft and it was only for 1 season. Down to 1 league now and everyone has been in it for a long time. Don't use phone for it. Don't use phone for much. Don't like using phone for anything internet related.  May be last year paying FBG.

SO, I purchased the basic PRO plan. It's all I need for my one league redraft format.

I was looking at Expert Rankings on the site. When I look at the rankings  for PK and TD

it only shows me the top 15 at each position and suggests I upgrade to ELITE to see more.

But at least it will let me see all 200+ TEs in a WR+TE league.

And now, every annual subscription runs for a full 12 months from the date of purchase.
Now that you are charging for a full 12 months, are you going to actually provide content for the full 12 months?

Last month, your excuse for why there were no rankings posted, was that it was too early in the off-season.

Expert re-draft rankings have now been posted by numerous staff.

However, explanations are limited to Jason Wood's comments from 2021 and comments from Chad Parsons for a limited number of players.

Hardly seems like value add.

Is there any intent for the other staff to add comments for their rankings, which is where the value is contained?

Thanks. I hope it didn't sound like "excuses" but there will always be an ebb and flow for when content is released as we balance the tension between timeliness and quality. We probably could have Week 1 individual rankings up today. But the quality would be so poor they wouldn't have much value. In the same way for season long rankings, we'll balance out when we have content online.

We have tons of rankings up now and should have comments for them soon as we work through a tech problem on the rankings in clearing the 2021 comments from the database. Hope to have those very soon. Thanks.

This is where some of this disconnect is for me. What is unvalued by you could be valued by another. I'm not saying Week 1 rankings are an example of this. But, it was brought up a few months ago about having dynasty rankings posted almost immediately after the Super Bowl was valued by many that like trading/speculating at that time. It was indicated that that was down time and having rankings then weren't necessary. Hence we had outdated rankings by two people.

I don't think it's a disconnect. I agree we want to have dynasty rankings up earlier and that will be part of the plan going forward. We'll have a refresh of our Dynasty rankings here this week to go along with the 14 sets of Rookie Rankings we have now. Thanks.

Thanks for the response.

perhaps you could respond to the following with a specific answer:

1. does FBG see any value in having its staff post comments to their expert rankings?

several posters have noted that its the thought process more than the numerical value that is most important

2. Does FBG plan on having its staff provide comments to the expert rankings for 2022?

3. if so, when will these comments be posted,

and how often will they be updated?

4. if FBG feels this is too much to ask of its staff, then at a minimum they should comment when outside the group think consensus

this may be a bad idea, as it will probably further concentrate the group think and eliminate outliers entirely (which is why the comments should be comprehensive)

Thanks. For sure, some of the best content we do is on the comment area. We completely redesigned the rankings last year and one of the primary things we changed was implementing a way for the comments to be more prominently displayed. In past years, you had to mouse over individual rankers who had comments and it wasn't as much in the forefront. We made the change last year to feature the comments more prominently and we'll do that again this year. Hope to have the rankers doing these very soon. And they'll be updated regularly as things change. Thanks.

Agreed on everything here. Don't understand the difference either, especially when there is a good-sized uptick in the pricing structure. That's what's sent me looking for other resources so far for the upcoming season.  I pretty much know what is offered for auctions here because it's really never changed for many years.

Hey @Joe Bryant, thanks for the updates on the subscription plans. Where does it say on the Footballguys site that the Draft Dominator tool is not available at this time and won't be released until mid-June? Even the error messages don't reflect that.

I don't remember not being able to add/synch leagues in past years at this time. It might be helpful for new customers to know this as their one year subscription would start at a time when they can't add their leagues for customized rankings.

yeah, I'm having trouble syncing my FFPC leagues after the rookie draft ended.

It's not showing the rookies as being rostered. And I just deleted all of my existing leagues and tried to Add New Leagues from scratch, it logs in properly to see my FFPC teams but then errors out saying "Cannot connect to Footballguys! Please make sure you have an internet connection and reload the page to try again.". I have an internet connection and I tried multiple times.

@Joe Bryant before I put in a help request, do you know if something is up with MyFBG league syncing that's actively being worked on now? thanks

"We apologize for this issue. We are updating our league tools for the 2022 season, so some features are not available at this time. Specifically, none of the import functionality is currently available. We expect the Draft Dominator tool to be released by mid-June."

Huh. I didn’t get that error or message. Thanks

ps. My mistake for deleting and trying to reimport. At least prior to deleting my leagues, I could see all the members on my rosters except for the rookies. Now I’ve got bupkus

Yes, me too. I did the same thing, deleted all my leagues and tried to add them to no avail.

I got the same error message as you, something about not having an Internet connection. LOL

The quote is the response I got to a support ticket.

I'm hoping a working version of the draft dominator will be out soon, even if it has very rough rankings.  Best ball season is well underway already at all the big sites (part of the reason I just bought the HOF plan), and I'm going to need a way to start entering and keeping track of my drafts soon (doing the long drafts).  I do feel for you guys as this may be an earlier start than you are used to, but at the same time if you want to offer more expensive tiers for Best Ball, DFS, I need the tools to be functioning now that we are well into best ball season at all the major sites.

Thanks @joey and @TDCommish The league synching feature is still being updated for 2022 and we hope to have it ready soon. We should make that more clear on the site and apologies for the inconvenience. And don't ever hesitate to submit a help ticket. They will almost always be able to help much faster than I can. Thanks.

Same with the Draft Dominator @GreenNGold in we're planning to have Draft Dominator ready soon. Agreed for sure it's time. Also, be looking for lots more content this year from our James Brimacombe and others as we expand our Best Ball coverage.

I am finishing my 6th rookie draft with very little help from footballguys. The best help has been the free SP and its contents. Thank you to all that participate.

I actually purchased a few extra subs due to the lack of rookie draft info. I'm not sure how that wasn't a priority this off season, if it was ... yeeesh.

The tournament that has your name on it has started, but still no dominator.

No other way of putting it.

disappointed customer.

Hi @candian fantasy guy  I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed there. We're working as quickly as we can to get the Dominator ready. And I hope the Rookie Draft rankings we've expanded massively over years past have been a help. https://www.footballguys.com/rankings?pos=ov&type=rookie&scoring=ppr&excludedstaffers=&leagueid=Select+League

But we don't want anyone to be unhappy with a purchase. If you'd like to cancel and receive a refund, we have a 30 day money back guarantee and we can take care of that for you. I'd hope you'd be able to hang on though and we'll have our Draft Dominator ready soon. But fully understand if not. We'll be trying our best here to get it quickly. If you'd like to do a refund, please shoot me a PM. Thanks.

You're using year round content as one of your selling points for the increase without actually providing year round content.

There are free sites that have had rookie rankings, etc. up for several weeks.

And the more I think about it, placing auction in the higher tier is frustrating. As others have said, the content hasn't changed much over the years.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll continue to do our best here in providing content for the subscribers.

As a long-time FBG subscriber and mostly dynasty participant, this is sadly where I’m at.  In all fairness, FBGs has added a bit of off-season content in the way of articles, but it pales in comparison to other resources available. But that’s likely because FBGs primary customer base aren’t dynasty players, or better put, primarily dynasty players.

But let’s also be honest when providing justifications regarding the subscription cost increase and/or content.  “Massively expanding” the rookie rankings by having 14 staffers submit them instead of 6 isn’t really much in the way of value added. And that is especially so when a solid handful of them are auto-unchecks.

I still believe that there is a consistent issue in how changes/updates/pricing are (or are not) communicated to subscribers.

It’s cool that Joe takes the time to engage on these forums, but my reaction is usually why am I learning about this on a message board and/or wondering how many other subscribers have not seen even the information.

I agree with the comments that there remains too many instances of content not ready or site features not synced up.

I’m sure there have been lots of complaints in recent years that paid subscriptions don’t include access to mobile apps. But I’m not sure it meant that people were looking to pay more to automatically have an app in their package. I use my phone likely 90% of the time I’m on your site and I find it works fine without an app.

Thanks @houston You're right in we can definitely do better in how we communicate with customers. That's something we've been trying to improve.

I would add a few other points relating to synching with my MFL league:

- The Rankings pages are also not showing updated rosters. The rookie rankings therefore are showing every rookie as a FA. This is a problem in that I have a Free Agency period coming up, and can't use the ranking tool to identify highly ranked rookies FAs to target.

- The projections pages aren't showing the correct scoring for IDPs in my league, even though I've had this league connected to FBGs for years and it hasn't changed.

I submitted a help ticket but did not get a response.

Also, I note that IDPs have position classification based on your records, not the positions in MFL. As you may know, this is a big issue that's been discussed extensively on the IDP forum. I've always used the rankings tools to ID potential free agent adds, but that's of less value when an LB in my league is classified as a DL. Perhaps that's something you can consider in the future.

Thank you for listening.

Correct. The league synching is not working yet so you won't be seeing updated rosters. PM me your email address as you should always receive a response from Customer Service.

Yes, we spend a ton of time and effort getting the positions as right as possible. It's one reason we are stoked to add Gary Davenport to our IDP staff as he does a lot of this work with MFL.

For sure. The middle tier is for the advanced ways to play. Dynasty, Auction, IDP Best Ball and such. All those require specialized content and extra and specialized Staff. I know many in the industry "pay" their staff with "exposure" but we've always believed in compensating people fairly for their work. I don't think we have a single person on staff that's greedy. But they want to be fairly compensated. And it's my opinion much of the content on line is a "get what you pay for" thing. It's my opinion to get great content, we have to compensate people fairly to produce it.

I've been thinking about this and would like to expand just a bit.  My context with the above statement is that you can find hundreds of rookie rankings on the web for free.  So my personal opinion, which may obviously vary wildly from others, is that I don't particularly care how many staffers submit rookie rankings on this particular site under a subscription based offering.

What I would care about and find value in is any commentary from these staffers on the "why" behind their rankings.  As others have stated, even if it's just for outliers.  If you have George Pickens, Rashad White, and Dameon Pierce ranked as late 3rd round rookies when their ADP is late 1st / early 2nd, then explain why.  Even if I disagree, the why behind your ranking outliers might be helpful and make me think a bit more.  I think this is one of the reasons that so many people enjoy Bloom's 100.  Unlikely that most agree with Bloom's rankings per se, but there's value in the time and thought put into the reasoning he gives in that article.  That's obviously a massive effort for Bloom, so I don't think subscribers can expect something similar from 14 staffers posting rookie rankings.  But a handful of brief comments here and there, at the very least, would go a long ways and provide a lot more value IMO.

Thanks Joe.

Isn't the only difference between draft and auction leagues, the initial draft?

It seems a draft league requires one set of straight rankings and an auction league requires a set of rankings by dollar values. Are there any other differences between a draft league and auction league during the season?

One difference between my redraft and auction leagues isn’t that big of a difference, but both are keepers. So in the redraft keepers are bound by round drafted, whereas in my auction, the auction price determines the following years keeper price.

There are definitely differences in drafting strategies also between the two. That’s where more in depth information regarding auction values and their determinations (what’s built into the value number to determine price and how to build it in, i.e, VBD, SOS, etc) is helpful but not found. However there are tons of similar articles on here for just this thing related to redraft leagues. So yea, not sure there is much difference in the two.

Also wanted to say, love Blooms rankings and his 100)

It's mainly in the valuation and the work turning projections from not just to rankings but into actionable auction values for the draft. But for sure, once the draft is done, the content is like redraft. But the draft is a huge part of it. Best Ball of course is the same.

Thanks. We're in complete agreement on the value of commentary to go along with Rankings. That's one of the primary reasons we invested in completely revamping our format last year to allow for the comments to be more prominent. We have a lot of those on redraft with more coming. And for sure comments coming on the rookie rankings.

There are several sites out there - most created/consolidated over the last 3-4 years it seems with some "big" names attached to them - that I have subscribed to where the price made me flinch (particularly after they start really raising their rates in years 2+).  Several are now well north of $100/year. Adding basketball or golf and having it as part of the fee is not something I place any value in. I probably subscribe to 4-5 different sites each year, assess their value add in my decision making process, and drop the ones I don't think are worth the price. For the price/value given the breadth of what FBG offers IMO its the only "no-brainer" renewal each year.

Any chance the sync will work for 32 team, 2 copy full IDP leagues? The leagues I'm in are so far not supported.

Not really plan related but this is the kind of new Dynasty Content I'm excited about. And how we're trying to address some changes. New Staffer Kevin Coleman is doing a series breaking down some of the crowded position rooms in the league and trying to make sense of who might emerge. In this one, he looks into the Dolphins RBs. https://www.footballguys.com/article/2022-navigating-crowded-rb-rooms-miami

I don't want this to sound sarcastic, but I'm excited to see what "new" auction content is in the works. Because I agree with Dr. Octopus......the projections and most everything else is the same as a standard redraft. It's simply adding an auction value which the VBD has done very well for years. Plus, any serious auction player will develop their own values based on league history, etc. So I can't wait to see where the value add will be this year.

Thanks. Auction has been one we've done pretty well over the years so I'm not sure how much room there is to grow that area. But we'll do our best there. I feel like we have more room to grow in some of our other areas like IDP and Dynasty. Do you have particular areas with Auction you'd like to see us expand?

FWIW, JB has provided more value than my yearly subscription fee simply answering questions in this thread alone.

I've been here for a very long time and will likely be a lifetime subscriber simply on the value provided over the years by the draft dominator classic(which I still use for every league that I participate in).  I very much enjoy the subscriber contest which is value added and I make use of the boards(which I know are provided for free, but also add a ton of value).  The subscription fee is a small fraction of my league fees, so I do not have any issue with the current pricing.  On the other hand, I understand those who do.  Time moves on, things get more expensive and we decide if that expense is worth it or not.

For the record if someone is tallying the feedback in this thread.  My interests are redraft, auction and dynasty.  I am not interested at all in IDP or Daily Fantasy, but I certainly understand that a la carte is not a realistic option for most businesses.

No. I feel like the auction content has been solid. There isn't much to add. But doesn't that lead us back to the question....why was it placed in the higher priced package?

Everything is there.

Thanks. It's in that tier because that content takes more resources to produce. If done properly, and that's surely what we'll try to do, it should have more value.

Correct. The league synching is not working yet so you won't be seeing updated rosters. PM me your email address as you should always receive a response from Customer Service.

This is a problem for me. My leagues have already drafted. They always draft before your mobile tools are ready. I have no use for your mobile tools whatsoever and don't want to pay for them.

completely laughable that a "PRO" plan does not come with Rookie or Dynasty Rankings.. more like Amateur plan

it took only one google search to find comparable content for free so I wasn't upset... if you didn't ask for literally double the zig like a bookie I would of just swiped my card but now you get nothing.

When I look under the auction articles a total of 13 appear, 12 of them written by Drew Davenport. Seven of those are on Mastering the Auction. Most of that content is pretty standard auction strategy stuff.

You've stated several times that you don't expect your staff to work for free and that seems to be your justification for the steep raise in prices. I wouldn't expect them to work for free either. But from your auction articles it seems like you have one staff member working on auction content.  And now he is also providing IDP content, taking away from what little time he spent on auction content. Maybe I'm missing something here but it seems like for the increased price and the auction content being lumped in to the Elite Plan there is LOTS of room to grow. Do you plan on having other staff members submitting auction content?

I've subscribed for many years. Most of the material and information provided here gives a FBG subscriber an edge over their league mates. The auction material certainly does not.
