I would agree that
@Bob Magaw seemed to be going a little bit overboard and it's probably appropriate that he reign himself in. I'd even say that he was contributing to a lower level of discourse by adding a ton of unrelated adjectives whenever he described Trump.
That being said, would be possible to un-delete the thread and just ask Bob to self-moderate?
One further discussion: if you or bob want to participate in political threads, how about creating an alias so you can do so anonymously? If, in the course of posting, you see something that should be moderated, please have the discretion to ask another mod to review.
Part of the problem , I think, is you guys want to interact (and why shouldn't you? you guys have opinions and voices as well), but you are burdened with the responsibility of keeping this place "excellent". You guys should work as a team - if Bob gets frustruated with Max's inability to stay on topic, he should not ask Max to not post there, he should do the same as you guys ask other posters to do - report him to another mod (as a poster, not as a fellow mod) and let someone else deal with it.
In other words, don't get involved in debates likely to get heated as a moderator. If you want to be involved, do so as a participant and recuse yourself from policing.
also, I'll join in the call for a political forum. There really is no good reason not to.
