Yes it is an alias account. And it just so happens that the person who created that alias in 2004 was also reading this thread today, and he decided to log on just now to help you understand what happened.

So, to recap:

1. Some random Footballguy creates the "John Kerry" alias in 2004.

2. Same random Footballguy uses "John Kerry" alias to make hundreds of posts in election threads in 2004 and 2008.

3. Once the usefulness of the "John Kerry" account wears off, the random Footballguys stops using the "John Kerry" account.

4. sometime around 2009, a forum software upgrade purges hundreds of threads and resets the post counts. Now it appears that the "John Kerry" account has 0 posts.

5. in 2017 the same random Footballguy from 2004 sees squistion being obstinate in this thread, and tries to help him by firing up the old "John Kerry" alias to enlighten him.

6. epic fail all around.
All very nice, but I started posting in 2003 and am not aware of any posts being deleted in the 2009 upgrade or having a post count reset. I did lose some posts after a recent board upgrade, but that appeared to be catching up with some deleted threads I posted in.

Exactly right, especially #6

Here's some advice, not just for this message board, but for life in general.

The world is bigger than your knowledge of it. You look stupid acting like you know it all.

Do a search of your posts and you'll find that there's nothing prior to 2007. Everything from 2003-2007 was deleted, and none of those posts show up in your post count.

They are not listed in my current posts, but they were not deleted from my post count. I know because I didn't see a loss of several thousand posts and the counter set back to zero.

Your mantra...

Well, I may have been mistaken about the counter being reset to zero for everyone. But anyone who created an alias in 2003-04 and then stopped using it by ~2008 is probably going to show 0 posts today.

A 60 something year old man keeps a notebook a mile long on internet posters for over a decade, is obsessed with a man named Beaver on the internet, thinks people liking his posts equates to them liking him, tracks his personal post count for over a decade, has argued with every single poster in this thread, accused the staff here of creating alias accounts, accused posters here of hacking FBG, and threatens to whine about alias accounts forever despite Rudnicki giving him an answer months ago.

No one can be this clueless, right?

Good for you, admitting your ignorance about things is an important first step.
Dude, I had like about 4000 posts in 2009, I think I might have noticed if the post count was set back to zero. Just sayin'...

I didn't think members' post counts were shown until a few years ago. I cannot remember what year they became visible.

squistion, quick, what was the exact day??

The last few pages of this thread are unbelievable.
I completely agree.  The last few pages are not only unbelievable but also painful and uncomfortable.  On the previous page I said that some people will believe things that many of us believe are wrong and crazy--but at some point the level of "piling on" gets soo excessive that it becomes abusive and uncomfortable. Seriously guys--both sides of this issue have clearly stated their cases and opinions--just agree to disagree and walk away.  Nothing good is going to come from this continued back and forth.  I'm sick of seeing this stupid thread on the top of the first page.

So Kerry is not an alias account, who has been lurking since his last post in March 12, 2008 and just decided to start posting again? Somehow I doubt that
OF COURSE IT'S AN ALIAS ACCOUNT!  FOR ####S SAKE, MAN.  WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

Confession time. John Kerry was mine, had some fun with it, and I thought others liked it at the time. I've had others, and might do so again if the mood strikes. Shtick makes this place go round

Does anyone honesty believe Horner established this account in 2003 and has lurked for 14 years without making a single post until now? Or that Beaver created multiple accounts in 2003 to save for a rainy day when an account is banned in 2017?

Again, if the above is dismissed as being remote and unrealistic possibilities, what other answer is there? How is someone, who has been banned, acquiring these old accounts? I have thrown out what are the only logical alternatives. If someone has another theory I would like to hear it.
   sweet mother of god - I wondered why this thread had like 8 pages I hadn't read.  Half the posts in this thread (like yours) are ignored but I had to show this one to reply to it.  Why do you not just ignore all the trolls (or perceived trolls) and go on with life - someone may accuse me of being hypocritical replying to your post but I don't think you are a troll, I just think you are insane.

HYPOCRITE!

If we shouldn't be talking about this, please led the mods know and maybe they can finally delete this from the pinned FAQs thread:

0. Alias accounts

Are a pain for moderators. If you feel the need to create extra accounts just for trolling, this message board isn't for you. We see them; we close them. New accounts created in response to having your original account suspended/banned may also be axed.
You gotta be ####ting me. :lmao:

I said that Steve is obviously Beaver Cleaver (mods can verify). And that the Steve's account could not have been one created by him in 2003 that he then held dormant for 14 years anticipating that the Toe Cutter alias would be banned in 2017. No one can seriously argue this guy has been lurking for 14 years and suddenly started posting, please.

That left only two possible explanations. One was that he has help from someone on the inside. However, if you read I what I said at the time, I went out of my way to say that I didn't think any of the mods were corrupt or could be bought and, so, such a possibility, was "highly unlikely". However since we know Beaver didn't start the Steve account in 2003, it had to raised as a possibility, although highly unlikely.

Dismissing that it appears that this could not have been an original account started by Beaver and also not one provided by the staff - then, it was an old account that was somehow hacked.

Good work, Columbo.
