Here's the thing.  There are some things that a person goes so over the top with that it will follow them forever.  There is no doubt in my mind that at some point in the future I will poke at Tim for his "Trump is going to be dictator of the USA" shtick.  The nonsense that HT spewed regarding voter fraud is pretty much the same IMO.  It's going to stick with him for a long time.
I don't disagree but it's still trolling HT even if it's harmless fun, right?   Maybe a better way to put it is I don't think it's fair to troll HT about that and call it good fun but other posters get suspended if they are having harmless fun with the pigeon shtick.  Just because HT handles it better than Squis doesn't make it okay because then it gives Squis (and others) free reign to troll HT but he gets suspended if he plays along and returns fire.
I guess it depends on how the individual presents it and how it's received.  So, for instance, with these two yahoos, I don't think there is a serious bone in HT's body in terms of this voting scandal thing.  I think it's pure shtick based on his body of work, so that's how I approach it.....SHTICK IT UP I SAY!!!!!  Squis on the other hand has (and always has) come across as a "serious business" kind of dude with little to no sense of humor.  If I'm being honest, I have no idea why he even comes here.

To me "trolling" has an element of making a comment just to get under someone's skin.  Granted, I have not seen all the posts to HT in this forum, but the ones I have seen seem to be of the "   yeah, ok, keep going with your bad shtick" variety.  Perceptions and all that....it's probably better left to the two in the immediate conversation to police.  The rest of us are just guessing.

Oh....and FWIW, I have no problem with the sub forum.  Honestly, I don't understand the position that it's a bad thing.  Can someone dumb it down for me a bit?  I'd like to understand
By moving politics (or basketball or baseball) to a separate forum, then you reduce the likelihood of a thread being seen by the general population. This can have a negative impact in two ways: first, because you miss out on thoughtful contributions from quality posters who might not remember to check the Politics forum every day; and second, because the political threads can turn into an echo chamber where it's just the same 4-5 guys arguing past each other every day.

Personally, I like the way Footballguys handles basketball, with a general NBA thread in the FFA and then topic-specific threads in a separate forum. I'd like to see something similar in regards to Politics, but I'm not sure if it can be done without people complaining that "their" political thread didn't get the prestigious slot in the Free For All.

Be the change you want to see.
Can you elaborate?  I've taken steps to address my contributions here.  For example, Tim asked me to change my avatar and I did so immediately.  How about you?  I don't think following me around yet again posting the same thing meets the standards Joe says he is looking for.  Maybe you can put me on ignore if I bother you that much.

Chicken.

HellToupee made multiple posts about investigating and providing (promising!) evidence for the voter fraud which he claimed took place in New Hampshire.

Now, if we assume that HellToupee was being 100% serious about those posts, then isn't it fair to bring it up periodically to follow up on his claims?

And if HellToupee was not being serious, then wasn't he trolling? And if he was trolling, then isn't it fair to call him out?

Also, when I searched the forum for HellToupee + New Hampshire, this was one of the first results. "clearly a troll post towards" a certain poster, go figure.
@HellToupee has a good sense of humor and has played into that shtick multiple times.  If he has an issue with it being referenced as a joke, he can let me know.

@Ramblin Wreck:  Likewise, if you have an issue with my post you can respond.  This type of passive-aggressive board cop stuff is not helping.  If you want to call me whiny or a troll in a completely different thread, at least be man enough to @ my username.  Some of us are trying to do better per Joe's request, please try to join us.

I got a little lost in this thread just now and I hope a few people aren't confused by getting likes on posts from a year ago.

Okay man if you say so

Yes.  But your well-documented history of being obtuse when others try to have a straight conversation with you makes me hesitant.

I don't think it's controversial to say your posts are heavy on "board cop" behavior and you contribute very little substance to threads, even when other users ask you direct directions in effort to reach out and get you to join in the topic at hand.  How far back in time would we have to go into the Trump thread to find ten posts from you that contained full sentences about what is going on with the Trump administration and also did not contain disparaging words towards other users?  Months, right?

You're giving yourself credit for changing your avatar as if it was an immediate action.  But you fought people for months about it.

When I say "be the change you want to see", I'm suggesting it would be more efficient to put the efforts you put into policing others into checking yourself and leading by example.  Not practicing what you've been preaching hasn't gotten the results you want.  So perhaps a different tactic is in order.

Here's my view.

Ironically, you're playing board cop on me while accusing me of being board cop.  How about you worry about Bruce and I'll worry about me?

I feel I contribute plenty to multiple threads.  You are entitled to your opinion that I have very little substance.  if that's how you feel then again I suggest putting me on ignore.  If it makes you feel good about yourself then go read all the Trump threads and see how far back to get to 10 posts with a full sentence.

I'm practicing what I preach.  Joe made his post that he wants things cleaned up around here.  I changed my avatar because others felt it was trolling.  Perhaps you can change your trollish tone you have towards those you disagree with.  I also believe he even said let the past be the past and move forward.  He also said let things go too.  While we're making suggestions to each other, I would like to point you to both of those things.  You seem pretty bitter about my posts.

So yes I agree, I think you should try a different tactic.  Or just ignore me it's not that hard.

Fair enough.  To me, if it's of interest to you, you'll remember where it is, just like the Baseball Forum.  I'm not confident the "echo chamber" argument relies on the physical location of the thread.  Our threads are only as good as the people posting in them.  For whatever reason, we can't keep politics in one thread.  People can't seem to help themselves and with all the different subjects within politics, I can't really envision how a single thread would ever work.  A thread like that would be faster moving than even the Trump threads and everyone would be posting over everyone else on various topics.

IMO, the visibility isn't an issue for those who really want to participate.  I'm not sure the cut down on riff raff posts is directly caused by location but I'm glad we are moving in the right direction.

A PG version of Kate Upton and some dude she was dating (a baseball player or something?) from the leaks a couple years ago.
Justin Verlander is a pretty well known athlete. They are currently engaged to be married, IIRC.

You have a long history of making personal attacks towards me, often not rooted in truth.  If you are sincere about changing your ways, that's great.  Given how cagey you're being here about acknowledging how mean you've been to so many users here for a long, sustained period of time, I'm skeptical of how sincere you are about changing and you're just putting on an act because you think Joe is watching.  But time will tell if I'm right or wrong, I guess.

:lmao:

Seriously, just stop.  You're trolling.  You're hypocritical.  Joe can read whatever he wants from me and form whatever judgment he wants of me.  Do you really want to talk about past behavior?  Not only with this account but your Ferris Bueller account too.  I mean you told the other owner to have sex with himself so please spare me your lectures about forum decor.

Someone must have hacked his account.

I think you need to just give and up know that some people will never change.  There is nothing you and anyone else can do about it.

Can you point to a post since Joe decided to clean up the forums where I'm trolling anyone unprovoked?   Can we say the same about you?  I removed my avatar.  What have you done to make this a better place?

What was your avatar before, I don't remember it being anything terrible?

Pigeon wearing a Ga Tech helmet.  Many, including Bruce, had issues with the pigeon stuff.  I removed it over the weekend.  Hopefully Bruce is ready to move on and let Joe's guidelines resonate with him.

First of all, thanks for your super-speedy reply.  As recently as a few days ago you were slinging insults at people for replying too quickly to posts, so if this is yet another change you've adopted since the reset, I'm glad you see the virtue in it.

I'm not going to argue with you over your definition of "trolling".  I was sincere in that post.  You said I once accused all the Trump supporters here of murder, which felt like an attack and is the opposite of true.  Another user even dug up the post in question, and yet again your version of the events diverged from the events.  All part of a larger pattern where you seem entitled to say whatever you want about other users but demand an audit the moment someone questions you.  I suppose there were worse habits to pick up from Higgs, but that one was pretty bad.

You explicitly demonstrated you changed your behavior because Joe is more of a presence now.  You can't stop congratulating yourself for changing your avatar since Joe came by to clean up play a bit.  So is Joe dictating your moral code now?  You knew it was disrespectful for the many months you wore it.

So which part of your post is supposed to convince us you're ready to move forward?  The part where you wanted to re-litigate an incident from several months ago, or the username I retired several years ago?  What exactly needs to happen for you to be satisfied there? I went into a ton of detail about Dodds and me the last time you brought that up, so much I can't even fathom what could possibly be left to discuss.  Did you ever ask Dodds about it?  The incident seems to bother you more now than it ever bothered David or me, and it's an incident I didn't take lightly.   What can we do to get you to the place you demand others get to with regard to HellToupee and New Hampshire voter fraud?  (I'll preemptively answer a response with "if it didn't bother you, you wouldn't bring it up at all, and AFAIK you're the only one on this board who still references it regularly as if it was a bigger deal to the world than it was to the actual participants.)

It's tough to break habits.  If you're sincere about changing, I'll do what I can to help.  But don't do for Joe Bryant.  Do it for yourself and the rest of the community here.  Your most recent response suggests my earlier skepticism is well-founded, but no marathon was run with a single step.

Again please stop projecting your behavior onto me and bring my personal board coo unless Joe hired you for this job.  I've asked him to clarify if you trolling me the last few days is what he's looking for on these forums.  Thanks.

Finally, I thought moderators were going to have  at least one rule which was a line in the Sand which would be enforced consistently.  Nope.  As always rules get applied differently  for different posters.  Things that are 100 percent publicly condemned against other posters are publicly condoned when done against me.   Same ole crap as always.

so, the leader of our country has brought boorish, childish behavior to the forefront.  this thread seems to be people complaining about boorish, childish behavior.

maybe, just maybe we all need someone to lead by example.  sadly, I think civil discourse is gone for good.  it is just acceptable nowadays to be rude.

if I could put trump on ignore, I would....................luckily I can do it to posters here.  I recommend the same.

Hey @Joe Bryant - I posted a bunch of questions here that went unanswered - being an owner of the board, I feel there is no wrong answer from you on my questions, I'm just curious where you stand on them?

Any insight is much appreciated!

TIA
FC,

It looks like on page 63 of other thread he addresses some of the questions. It looks like "if you've been a long time good poster" there could be lesser punishment which may be where I didn't make the cut and punishment wasn't necessary for the issue I had.

I know Joe does his best to be fair and obviously has a lot on his plate and as you mentioned it's their site so is what it is.

I was punished for the issue you had.  Please stop lying about this, you liar.

Hi fantasycurse42,

Joe is busy at the moment with football-related content and an extra-epic random shots for this week, and asked me to field questions for him for a while.

Regarding your questions, no one cares.

Thanks for doing all you do for the boards and hope you have a great season.
