Thanks everyone for the suggestions. We decided on a double feature to capture the most kids: Tremors and Poltergeist. Going to have about 10 kids for Tremors, and four will stay for Poltergeist. Will report back on Sunday morning! This is a great suggestion.ArachnophobiaTremorsThis seems a good place to ask this question. My 9 year old, who hasn't seen a real horror movie, is adamant about hosting a party and watch one with his friends. The hard part is, which movie? He's aware of the slasher/killer movies, which I don't think are quite appropriate, and Shaun of the Dead. I've personally been advocating for Poltergeist. Now I'm starting to wonder if that is even too severe.
Any thoughts on entry level titles?
But I think Nicks kid wants to be really scared.
So when he does not have his friends over throw him into the deep end Nick.
Halloween.

I’m only three deep and three (Viral) a was a big drop from the first two.V/H/S Beyond
Seems pretty big budget compared to some of the others (and I don’t mean all the video effects of the others), but it’s still meh. This one is extraterrestrial-centric. 2.5/5

No update - I'm still paused.Update?Uh oh, Sinister (Max) might be a DNF for me - this is pretty freaky.
Worth a finish imo. It’s very intense and has one of the best jump scares ever. (Not sure that helped me selling you on finishing it lol)No update - I'm still paused.Update?Uh oh, Sinister (Max) might be a DNF for me - this is pretty freaky.

Anything that stood out that you'd recommend?Saw The Substance in the theater couple weeks ago. Holy **** that's a wild movie.
Also been rewatching tons of classic giallo on Tubi.
BTW - good to see you in here, gb. Hope all is well.Anything that stood out that you'd recommend?Saw The Substance in the theater couple weeks ago. Holy **** that's a wild movie.

The first one that comes to mind is one I hadn't seen before: Mario Bava's A Bay of Blood. Pretty great if you like giallo. Some good kills, and one of the most insane endings you'll see in a movie.
One of the things I really like about X/Pearl is that you can watch them in either order and it will totally "work." Of course, they were made with that in mind, but still.Just finished X after watching Pearl first. I know it was out of order but I'm not sure if it would have made a difference. I liked Pearl quite a bit more and was hoping X would have been more of a psychological study like Pearl was, instead of a slasher. I know Maxxxine is getting bad reviews but I'll still finish off the trilogy.
Are you finding watching these very similar films as double features enhance the experience or dilute it?I've watched a few double features this month:
As Above So Below / The Descent - the underground, tight space claustrophobia is great in these two
Ready or Not / You're Next
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Original and Jessica Biel remake) - R Lee Ermey is fantastic as sheriff
Next up is:
Hell House LLC / Houses October Built - i hate the ****ing clowns in Hell House
LOL. I was very close to watching this last night as I was scrolling though services. Only seen it the one time but I remember laughing at it.Idle Hands - I love this movie. Always have and it is stupid as can be.
Watched it with my son the other night. First time he had seen it, and his assessment was "it was boring." Little punk.My parents put me in front of The Exorcist at around that age and while it traumatized me for a weekend, it also sparked a lifelong love of the genre. This seems a good place to ask this question. I would think many would struggle with pacing of 70s movies if they aren't used to that.Watched it with my son the other night. First time he had seen it, and his assessment was "it was boring." You burn through a ton of movies too. Do you do double features? Are you finding watching these very similar films as double features enhance the experience or dilute it?I've watched a few double features this month:

I'll do double features, especially this time of year, but not of too similar subject matter. I'll double up on horror (or comedy, etc) but not found footage, zombies, etc. When that specific, I'll do my best to fully digest the previous movie before starting the next one.You burn through a ton of movies too. You didn't ask me, but I tend to do this a bit if I know I can get through 2. For me it's all about if they are good or not, it doesn't matter if they are the same or really different..
I watch it every year.Watched a personal favorite of mine from 1981. Saw it when I was 11 and thought the sex scene was awesome.
Ghost Story
A classic with Fred Astaire and John Houseman.
To be honest, when I pair movies I don't always watch them in one sitting. Most often it's just back to back nights, as I fall asleep early.I'll do double features, especially this time of year, but not of too similar subject matter. Same for series; I will wait at least one day before moving on to the next episode. My wife hates that, as she is a Binger while I am a digester
Is there a mg dose of edible people recommend for this one?Really, really interested in people's thoughts on Tusk.
