FFA Official Horror Movie Thread Catching up on Shudder and Various Streaming Platforms (5 Viewers)

having kodi is a game changer. im about ready to get rid of all my dvds.

I haven't found a movie on there I couldn't stream in 3 minutes
I have a projector, awesome sound system, etc and I save that now mainly for sports and big action/event movies.  I have the Kodi on a nice 55 inch Vizio where the lower quality of the streaming doesn't bug me.  And there are just sooo many choices and  options for streaming that if you hate the movie partway in you just switch to another one.

"Hell House".  Fake documentary found footage movie.  Just watched it a couple days ago on fmovies.to

I thought it was pretty decent given the genre and how overplayed it has become.

Megan is Missing - Amazon rental - Two 14 year old girls meet a guy online and go missing.  This movie is sort of found footage, in the form of phone/camcorder videos, surveillance cameras and news footage.  This was a very tough movie to watch.  It's not gory or filled with jump scares or anything.  The way I would describe it is that it is very, very cruel and very realistic.  The portrayal of the two girls by these two actresses was very well done and served to make the final act of the film so disturbing.  The first 45 minutes of the movie establishes the two girls' characters showing their daily lives, one of which involves sex, drugs, and other things that will either make you glad you don't have a teenage daughter, or make you really worried if you do have one.  Without spoiling too much, the last part of the movie is truly disturbing and will leave you wondering why this was made and why you watched it.  It depicts things that made me feel like I was watching something illegal off the Deep Web.  I'm still affected a day later.  Normally this would be a sign of a great movie, but in this case, I just don't know.  If you have teenage girls, think twice before watching.

 sounds like my kind of movie

In October 2011, the New Zealand Censorship Board (OFLC) banned Anchor Bay's release of this film by classifying it as 'objectionable'. They claimed that it contained sexual violence and sexual conduct involving young people to such an extent and degree, and in such a manner that if it was released it would be 'injurious to the public good'. They went on to say that it relished in the spectacle of one girl's ordeal, including a three-minute rape scene. They also stated that it sexualized the lives of young teenage girls to a 'highly exploitative degree'.

 ah maybe not

yeah that's pretty accurate.  And those are not even what I considered the most disturbing parts.

I will say they did a really good job with the casting.  The main character was actually 22 when the movie was shot, but she doesn't look or act a day over 14.  I checked because if they had actually made an underage girl film those scenes, it would've been even more ####ed up.

Home sick for the day.  So far watched:

Krampus - 3/5 - Horror/comedy more horror I suppose.  Not bad

The Diabolical - 3/5 - A kind of house haunting flic with some twists and good production values

The Day - 3.5/5 - A world's ending cannibal survival movie.  A small movie that I actually enjoyed very much.

Thanks for making sure I didn't watch this one by mistake.  No thanks to that kind of film.

This was a pretty decent flick, especially the last part of the movie that was awesome.

Not exactly the right thread, but anyone watch Ash vs. Evil Dead on Starz? Looking for something new to watch on the elliptical for next few weeks.

Well damn, might have to check this one out then.  All about movies that should be banned
I've seen it. Pretty disturbing flix but I have two daughters so maybe I was biased.

The Orphanage.

Real good acting & story.  Very suspect ending which left me puzzled instead of scared or creepy.  this could have been great, instead ho hum.   Not much horror.

3/5

Watched it and it really hit me in the gut. Thought about the final act for days. A seriously disturbing movie and entrenched in absolute reality. Truly rooted with today's evil of online predators.

Make sure you know what your kids are doing online. There are extremely evil people in this world. This movie does a haunting and sobering job of displaying and expressing this. Extremely low budget but highly effective and not for the squeamish.

The last 25-30 minutes are just shocking and made me want to take a shower.

Question. Do you consider it a good movie after all that?

Your feelings after watching it pretty much match mine and normally I'd consider a movie that evokes such feelings as great but with this one I find it hard to label it a great movie I'd recommend to all my friends.

On the same page as you. I would not recommend this film to just anyone (all my friends). I would only talk about it with people who have the same taste in horror as me (which is why I love this thread we have). The acting is very hit or miss. I would say Meagan was really the strongest actress, her friend did a good job, but the rest of the cast was typical low budget amateurs. But despite the uneven acting, the film is powerful.

It's a difficult movie, as the final act is borderline snuff film type stuff. And deeply disturbing.

First two IMO were very entertaining then it became old hat.
I actually quite like #5 too. Thought it did a good job of tying things together.  The 3rd and 4th are forgettable, but I still  have a lot of fun watching this series.

I never watched 5. Gave up after the 3rd and 4th left me feeling like it had run it's course. Will have to check it out.

I think you'd like it.  I would say it's more on par with the first two, and like I said, I thought it wrapped up the series in a fun way.  Don't get me wrong, it's not like it breaks new ground with the series, but thought it was a step up from the middle couple (or they just set the expectations that much lower ;) )

Finally watched The Woman in Black yesterday.  What an awful movie.  Mainstream hollywood cant compete with Asia and Europe when it comes to horror these days.

I don't have a list b/c I haven't seen enough new ones, but that one reminded me of another one that I enjoyed, but more of a thriller than horror maybe: Triangle

Watched this last night. I thought it was pretty good. Might watch it again tonight. The ending is a little lame and a couple plot holes. 7/10

Just saw train to busan.  From start to end this film produces. Was quite satisfied.  I usually lean away from subtitles but this film may have changed meh

Where did you watch it? I'm trying to find a place to stream it. Both on Amazon video and iTunes, the rental isnt available yet

Finally saw Train to Busan and I'm not an aficionado of zombie movies or anything but I've seen all the classics and to me this is the best zombie movie I've ever seen.

This still is a great movie, even with the ending.  I really enjoyed this film.

Watched a Christmas Horror Story this weekend on Netflix.

It was not too bad. Four stories that are sort of intertwined centering around Christmas. The one with Santas elves all becoming zombies was really entertaining. Interesting seeing Santa slaughtering all his elves in creative ways. Kind of mindless fun

The eyes of my mother. Very interesting movie. Different and a little disturbing? Not really horror. More of a psycho killer in the making from start to finish.   Recommended
