I agree. I watched "The VVitch" over the weekend. Was not impressed with it at all. Glad I didn't waste my money going to see it in the theaters.I think I was in the "all style, no substance" camp on this one. Remember it being original but feeling mostly men about it.
Going against the grain here big time. But I thoroughly enjoy Day of The Dead a lot more than the coveted Dawn Of The Dead. To me it has aged incredibly well. And Savani's make up and gore work on this is the stuff of legends.Good question. I don't know. Gonna do a search of "good movies with bad sequels" and see what jogs my memory.
Matrix
Speed
Godfather (after part 2)
Blair Witch
Dawn of the Dead
just off the top of my head looking through here.
Actually, I also love Day of the Dead. I should have said that instead.Todem said:Going against the grain here big time. I'm stoked for "Glass" as well. I was a big fan of "Unbreakable", but "Split" was kind of meh to me. The fact that it is tied in to that universe is the single coolest thing about it, which is confirmation to me that the movie wasn't all that. I kind of expect "Glass" to suck as well because expectations are going to be so high, but I'm glad we're going to get it. And I also need to go back and see Unbreakable with my gf who hasn't peeped it."Us" does look really creepy indeed. I know it does not fall into the typical "horror" genre but "Glass" looks really great in the previews. Definitely going to see that one. I will need to re-watch Unbreakable and the brilliant Split again before going to see this one.
I'd heard good things about this and started it and had to bail after like half an hour. Couldn't get past that whiney ### kid.For those that haven't seen it, The Babdook is one of my favorite horror films of the last 5 years. Unfortunately not streaming anywhere for free right now.

"Fright night. For real!" Loved that movie. Then was Fright Night. The original. She got into this more than she expected, though she didn't like the casting of Marcy Darcy as the lead female and didn't buy the antagonist as a captivating presence to women. Beyond that, had good scares, a good atmosphere, and (for 80's horror) a strong story with diverse, captivating characters.
were good watches. My favorite was Fright Night while she preferred Wolf.
You need to give it another shot. Your perception will change as the movie goes on.I'd heard good things about this and started it and had to bail after like half an hour. Couldn't get past that whiney ### kid.
How far do I have to persevere before the kid buys it and shuts the hell up?You need to give it another shot. Your perception will change as the movie goes on.

I liked this one. Was a nice surprise watch one evening when I was bored.Watched A Christmas Horror Story again. Not a bad trio of stories with an interesting twist at the end. 4/5
Good lord, that looks like it has quite a bit of potential."Us" does look really creepy indeed.
I just watched the trailer for "Us" and am extra hyped for this. Might even watch this at a black theater for the full experience.Good lord, that looks like it has quite a bit of potential.
This Peele fella is a sick minded dude. Love it.
:boner:Watched the Suspiria remake yesterday and it was great. It's both looooooooong and a slow burn but has a more cohesive plot that the original along with better characters and acting. It has a couple of really gruesome body horror scenes. Also the soundtrack is done by Thom Yorke.
It manages to capture the creepy feel of the original , while taking the plot in its own unique direction. Wish more remakes would be this bold.![]()

From IMDB: In 1905, a drifter on a dangerous mission to rescue his kidnapped sister tangles with a sinister religious cult on an isolated island.
Just watched this. Awesome addition to the zombie genre.Train to Busan was pretty crazy.
Sets a high bar, imo.Just watched this. Awesome addition to the zombie genre.
Agree - one of the more entertaining zombie films I've seen in some time.Sets a high bar, imo.
The little girl was some actress. With her father at the end was heartbreaking.

to me was like a cross between David Lynch and Tim & Eric. What a weird freakin movie! Here is a bit of trivia from IMDB that may give you some idea as to what type movie this is...All male genitalia seen in this film are prosthetics.
Couple different summaries...
Ronnie runs a Disco walking tour with his son, Brayden. When a sexy woman takes the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her love. It also signals the arrival of an greasy strangler who stalks the streets at night.
When Big Ronnie and his son Brayden meet lone female tourist Janet on Big Ronnie's Disco Walking Tour--the best and only disco walking tour in the city--a fight for Janet's heart erupts between father and son, and the infamous Greasy Strangler is unleashed.
Is this streaming somewhere? I've been looking for this on the usual apps with no success. The Orphanage
Finally got around to seeing this one. I thought the story was pretty good and the suspense was there throughout the movie. The ending was a little cheesy and formulaic, but it tied everything up nicely. 4.5/5

A friend of mine recommended 2 prime movies recently . Haven't seen either yet.I think I've watched everything good on Amazon, Shudder, and Netflix. Been a while since something really stood out. Only one I can think of recently that has been good was Clovehitch Killer.
Yup, these are all good. Night Eats the World is a slow burn, but I enjoyed it.A friend of mine recommended 2 prime movies recently . Haven't seen either yet.
Devil's Rock
The Night Eats The World
this one is on Shudder and I thought it was pretty good. It is horror-anthology and the stories are interwoven somewhat
