FFA Weather Reports (3 Viewers)

The General said:
Just left Minneapolis. Love that town but the high was like 8 the entire time I was there. My lashes froze together. WTMF people.
-25 and -57 windchill coming.  I get to Eden Prairie a couple of times a month.  Not his week thankfully.

57 degrees today in Atlanta - over night doesn’t even get down to 40, snow forecasted for tomorrow but it won’t be below 35 during the storm - they’ve already closed metro county schools :lmao:   :lmao:

checked the forecast yesterday and thought we were in for mid 30s. been mid 20s today here in NYC and I'm about 10degrees off with my clothing choice (and a lot of time getting around the city today to meetings). I've been cold all day when I'm not sitting next to the radiator at my desk that bakes me to a crisp.

Looking forward to the 80-90 degree swing in temps over the next 5 days.  Tomorrow supposed to be rocking -40 to -50 windchills, and Sunday the high could be in the 40s.

I mean, you Midwest folk wear this like a badge of courage...amiright?
I don't know about that but a low of 10 with a wind chill of say -10 sucks ### but isn't that big of a deal (to those of us with homes and cars and stuff). We can typically function

But people die in this type of stuff. I'm in Milwaukee, looking at -12 with wind chills of -35 at the moment, but it's been falling steadily. And obviously our friends to the west in Minny and the Dakotas are looking at much lower. We just got about a half inch of snow locally that should freeze nicely overnight so my commute will be fun.

Outside Temp here:  -31°

Feels Like -53°

Days like this are when working from home REALLY pays off.. :coffee:

Right now in Omaha it is -14 but feels like -27.  Thoughts and Prayers as I have to traverse the 20 feet from my front door to the car to hopefully start the vehicle to head to work.  Schools cancelled - work goes on.

Not me, and I can't wait until I retire in 5 years so I can get away from the MN winters.  I do love the summer and fall here however but it doesn't last long enough.  Six months of winter is a drag but not as bad as some think.......except for times like this.  The humidity in the south is almost as bad as the MN winters.....I said almost.

Heart goes out to the folks with little or no shelter. This kind of cold is unforgiving. Hard on the critters, too. I see a fresh set of tracks out back. Coyote or fox most likely. Will check later. I have a trail cam out there, too, that should have got ‘em. I don’t know how they do it. Our dog doesn’t even like going out to take a leak in this.

I'm staying here in retirement. Why? Don't mind winter as much as I mind people.

I'm working from home today as well.  I bet if I went to start my car it would say WTH?
I actually started down our road this morning and thought I had a flat tire.  Truck was bouncing with every turn of the wheels.  Stopped, got out and checked the tires and all was well.  🤔  It was then that I realized my tires were literally frozen in the slightly depressed state where they had been sitting on the driveway overnight.  WTH is right.  Fffffffffff this.

What's bako?  And are you referring to the bako comment in the other thread?  Because I didn't know what you meant there either.
oh.. no idea now.

bako = bakersfield CA, the paradise/shangri-la of the west. with moderate temps to go along with all the rest it has going for it.

Cleveland: -4 with -18 windchill; It is tough to imagine it getting much colder.. I wonder how the heck the animals survive in this........

NWS has introduced a new alert that started this winter:  Snow Squall Warnings.

There is no Watch associated with it, like all other alerts.  If you are in the path of the squall line, you'll get a warning.  A snow squall is a line of heavy, wind driven snow that will take visibility down to under 100 feet in some cases.  They usually don't drop more than an inch of snow, but the problem is that it comes down so quick, it immediately sticks.

The problems tend to usually occur on highways where drivers going 60 mph will go from clear skies to can't see 100 feet in front of them on slick roads.  Drivers brake to slow down and cars behind them cannot avoid running into the slowing cars.  These squall lines tend to result in huge 70 car pile ups.  (I just picked a random number.  It's not always exactly 70.)

So if you get this alert on your phone and you are in the car, be prepared for possible blinding conditions.  There is a squall line currently making its way through PA right now.

God how do you people live in that crap.  You are a lot stronger than I am.  When I left Germany in 78 I made a solemn promise to myself I would never live North of Ocala thank God I kept that promise.

I've just heard on the radio that several local area bars are closed today.  This is in Milwaukee.  I've lived in the upper Midwest most of my life and have never heard of this happening before.  :headexplode:

Obviously, an extremely extraordinary circumstance we are facing here today.

Got home from work last night at 11:30. Garage door wouldn't open. Had to park the car outside. This morning it wouldn't start. Nor would my truck (also parked outside). Got the car jumped this morning, now check engine light is on.

Why the #### did I ever leave California? MN sucks.

Also,  :lmao: to the Bako remarks. I'd rather live here than in Bakersfield.

I'm ashamed of our city.

It's not all bad. Got an email from a local tavern stating that they're open today. They're offering free ICE cold Miller Lite, Long Island ICED tea, and Black ICE Sambuca shots from 4-7. Not all heroes wear capes (and scarves and mittens)

This? If it happened more often then we wouldn't. It sounds crazy but there's at most only a handful of days each winter I will not go outside.

Squall line just came through here in Lancaster.  Lasted about 20 minutes and was like a blizzard.  I couldn't see the other side of the parking lot here at work.

Forgot to post when I arrived at work - made it safely despite a horrifying confrontation with Yukon Cornelius and some type of snow creature.  Temps have climbed to a balmy -5 with only 5-10 mph winds so I might grill out tonight.
