First Presidential Debate (1 Viewer)

Another random observation - about how different this campaign is from the past - people will be expecting Trump's facial contortions tonight, and it will get lots of camera time as he reacts to Clinton.  But, it will not be portrayed as the same negative or downside that nailed Gore.  Gore was nailed for his sighs and eye-rolls, which will pale in comparison to Trump.  Yet, nobody will think Trump loses because of those reactions.  (Oddly, if he controls those emotions, he may come across as more "presidential" which would help him sway some undecideds).
If you have watched Clinton during times when you know she is lying and getting pressed she remains calm and deflects about as well as anyone. Clinton has many years of experience in deflecting and redirecting without really saying anything. So I really do not see her getting ruffled.

My feeling is if Trump has not prepared at all for this debate he'll begin to repeat himself about half way through on the same points and begin to look bad and sound like a broken record. In the GOP debates he had to be the focus for only about half of the time allotted(with commercials) and he had a number of targets to make it look different. He will look lost in the last half hour without that crutch and without a teleprompter his closing argument will surely be a rambling affair.
Went through the last Republican debate:

Opening comments:

- I have the best temperament

- I'm the only up here that said "Don't go into Iraq, don't go" (total lie)

- Our country doesn't win anymore

Do you have a red line with North Korea?

- I think we have a President who is totally incompetent and doesn't know what he's doing.  Our country is going to hell.

- We have had trillions sucked out of our country by China. They should take care of the problem (North Korea)

You said you want to repeal health care but you want everyone covered:

- We are going to repeal Obamacare and replace it with something SO much better

- We're going to get a plan where everyone competes

- We're going to take care of people who are dying on the street, we're going to take care of those people

You were quoted as saying you love eminent domain:

- Eminent domain is an absolute necessity

- You need eminent domain

- When eminent domain people get a fortune for their property

- I didn't take the property (of an elderly woman on the strip in Atlantic City) the woman ultimately didn't want to do that.  Gets a bunch of boos and spends a minute complaining about not getting enough tickets for the debate.

Christie says "ask him how" he's going to create jobs:

- I bring bring jobs back from China, Japan, and Mexico.  I'm going to bring them back fast.

- TPP is going to be a disaster.

- Under my tax plan - we're the highest taxed country in the world - under my plan we cut taxes for not only the middle class but corporations.  We're going to bring back trillions of dollars that are offshore and in my opinion they're much higher than that.

You have said you would vigorously defeat ISIS, how and please be specific.

- Four years ago I said bomb the oil and take the oil.  I still stay the same thing.

- You can back channels of banking, you need to stop that - I know banking better than anyone

What would you do in those cities in the middle of fighting with suffering people?

- Take away their money and they will last about a year, they'll become weakened quickly

You said you would bring back waterboarding:

- People are chopping off heads, I would bring back waterboarding and a helluva lot worse

On dealmaking:

- A good dealmaker will make great deals

- A good dealmaker would not have made the Iran deal

- Congress - you have to get 'em in a room and make a deal, grab em, hug em and get the deal done

How would you motivate the electorate?

- I'm creating a movement, we will galvanize the people.  How she gets away with the email stuff, I don't know how she runs

- We will win it and win it by a lot

How do you bridge the divide between BLM and police?

- The police are mistreated and misunderstood.  Minorities respect the police.  We need more respect for the police

I did ask about bridging the divide...

- Everyone sues.  You have to solve the problems and weed out the problems.

Should families be able to raise money for ransom?

- You cannot or you will have many, many more James Foleys.

- I raised $6 million for the vets

- There is tremendous waste in the veterans administration

Closing statement:

- Our country doesn't win anymore.  If I'm elected President we will win and we will win and we will win

Estimated audience: between 80 and 100 million. That would make it the most viewed news broadcast ever.

The most viewed broadcast ever was last year's Super Bowl: 114 million.

So are Trump supporters going to wear their favorite white pointy hat and sheet tonight?
Can't wait to watch history as this will be our FIRST Presidential debate with a woman and a circus peanut.

Now, for the lighter side   :

HEMPSTEAD, NY (The Borowitz Report)—As the nation awaits the first faceoff between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on Monday night, more Americans are expected to self-medicate than for any other Presidential debate in history.

With over a hundred million people projected to watch the debate, roughly sixty million of them will be barely sentient after ingesting what they deem to be the necessary dose of intoxicants.

Davis Logsdon, of the University of Minnesota, estimated on Monday that the level of self-medication for the Trump-Clinton debate could be seven hundred per cent greater than for the first Obama-Romney debate, in 2012.

“The stakes seem higher this time,” Logsdon said. “There’s a sense that, depending on the outcome of tonight’s debate, all human life on the planet could be in peril.”

Across the country, liquor stores reported a desperate run on their merchandise as Americans fortified themselves for what many called “ninety minutes of horror.”

According to official estimates, by 9 p.m. E.T., the nation is expected to have a blood-alcohol level of .10 and will name Canada as its designated driver.

Did you slip some pro-Spur propaganda in there?

Only if HRC Supporters wear the same S&M gear they've been using while taking it up the ### from Hillary and the DNC.

Wait..too much?

What are the odds that Hillary Clinton wears a hairstyle that covers her ear(s) so that she can hide an ear piece?

SIDA!!!!

Where have you been? Nobody defends Trump like you do. You've been missed.
As much as I love #####, there is only so many of them that I can have in my life at one time. But tonight...I couldn't resist to bask in the glory of all my past (mod deleted) predictions about this election coming true.

So your response to refute that you dont wear a pointy hat is to talk about S&M gear?
So you admit you are going to wear a white pointy hat, because I didnt see a denial?

Dont worry, everyone knew once you pledged allegiance to an oompa loompa.
Funny you hate black, but love orange.

Also, how do you relate a consensual sex act to that to a hate group? Must be opposite day to day.

I LOVE TRUMP!

My prediction:

Clinton supporters will laud her performance (and ability to stay upright) and point out that she was the only candidate to have any clue about the issues she talked about.  And declare that she won the debate, and it was not close.

Trump supporters will give high-fives for Trump's ability to put Clinton in her place, and show that he is what we need to Make America Great (AGAIN).  They will declare that Trump won unreservedly, and it was not close.

Everyone else will be too drunk to remember any of it.

Can you re-post this in English?

So, he's your doppelganger?
I think he's a good guy. To be quite honest, very few Trump supporters around here (or elsewhere for that matter) have been very good at defending their man. SIDA has tried, and he was consistent from the very first, so he gets kudos in my book.

John Oliver made it very clear... there is no comparison.
While Hillary is trash, Trump is that much worse and it is not close.

Funny people attack Hillary for the same stuff Trump does... but she isnt an open racist, bigot and all the other discriminatory trash.
No comparison if you bring facts into it, NONE. Trump is a #####.

Do Trump supporters realize women, Latinos and blacks are not going to vote for him?

Hillary is going to give a positive view of America tonight. Trump will try to sell a negative, scary view. Hopefully the positive will win, as it did with Reagan and Obama.

Tim, too much ignorance and hate now for positive to win. Hillary needs to slap him around. No one is changing their vote, no one.

WHAT THE ####?  NO WAY!

You have got to be kidding me.  We've developed into a nation of wussies.  We're doomed as a country.
I'm a bleeding heart hippie liberal, and I totally agree with this.  Trigger warnings are one of the silliest things I have ever heard of and it's ridiculous that we are so hyper-sensitive these days.  The fact that colleges even need to do this is shameful.  You can't cater to everyone's fear.

If someone had a bad experience with a bee - do they put a trigger warning on flowers too?

There are ways to slap him around and still stay positive.

So many people have advice for Hillary tonight. Mine is for her to STAY FLUID. She needs to be willing to change her tactics depending on how Trump reacts to her.

Than you, sir.

Do you remember when I said Trump would take Ohio and Iowa and listed several states (NV, PA, MI etc) that were supposedly in HRC's column...as toss ups? She hasn't been to Ohio in 20 something days and not planning on being there for the foreseeable future.

Yes I remember.

Ohio is certainly up for grabs, though I think it will come down to the wire there. I don't think Trump is going to win Pennsylvania or Michigan or Nevada.

Welcome back buddy.
Thanks. Just a short visit. Been waiting for tonight for more than a year and wanted to celebrate.

Of course, while I was gone the mods apparently deleted nearly every Trump thread that had my expert analysis. But even those who can't stand me know how right I was about this election so far. A lot of "smart guys" in the room have been wrong over and over and over.

Why does she need to go to Ohio? I always wonder what that does? Are people going to change their hate or love for someone if they show up to do a speech in a state every 15 days? Are people that feeble minded to let their views get persuaded by if someone shows up to a state every few days. What does doing a speech in Ohio prove?

Same for Trump, he doesnt need to do a speech in Ohio to change anyones mind.

Well...considering HRC's schedule is one day, two ten minute speeches and three days bed rest (rinse and repeat), we will see. But, I think you might be the first to argue that a presidential candidate doesn't need to be on the campaign trail to win.

Not a Trump fan but a NY Jets fan (Screw you Sixpatrick), I lived in NY for years and I know of his (Trumps) dealings personally. I was a fan of some things he has done until I learned of how he did it. Ruthless, bad person who doesnt care about you. I have known people personally who had to sit and watch him smirk as he ruined their life. Do you think Trump cares about you and your needs? You know better, you are a grown adult. I stay in Shark Pool 99% of the time and love long walks on the beach. If you buy me a few drinks I may let you feel me up.

From what I know of Trump and the lives he ruined, Hillary could delete as many emails as she want and lie about trivial mistakes. She could collapse and call my mother a #### and she would still get my vote. People who are in Trumps inner circle fear him because the lawyers he sends after them fear Trump. He literally has done some of the shadiest deals in NY and this city still has the mob.

I am a person who will not get blinded by hate, greed or rhetoric. I know him... Sad, bad human. Hugely and Biggly, SAD!

The only hate I give are for the evil... emails? Please. He made a family give him his grandfathers house so he can rip it down to sell the land to someone else at 700% hike because he knew people. Terrible, but you want him to sit in a room of decision makers? You think a business man like that doesnt not have the shadiest of deals? He used charity money to buy a painting of himself and settle lawsuits. How do you approve of that because of emails?

Who are you?

What conservatives don't understand is that a vast majority of liberals think this 'trigger warning' type stuff is completely ridiculous.

John Oliver made it very clear... there is no comparison.
"False equivalency" is the new term used by liberals to make themselves feel better about voting for their lying, corrupt, POS candidate.

I don't want to hurt your feewings, but no amount of non-trigger words and lefty group think is going to change the fact that your candidate is a lying, corrupt POS.  They've both passed the boundary line where the degrees of lying and corruptness don't even matter anymore.

Reagan and Obama had the ability to connect with people.  Hillary just puts up with people until they remove themselves from her presence.
