Five Guys thread, a 130+ page swordfight. (1 Viewer)

Yes, I know In-N-Out is older than 5G. Do you think they invented the French Fry?
They invented the drive-through speaker. True story.
Red Chaney, 1947. Truer story.
Actually the entire story of who invented the drive through is contested. Truest story.
It is interesting that one guy who invented stuff all the time opened a drive through on Route 66 in 1947, which Route ends in Los Angeles, where a guy who started a business in 1948 who's never invented anything else claims to have started the whole thing.

#1 thing listed:

“Plus, you can get bottomless free peanuts while you wait.”

#3 thing listed:

“...friend recommended that we get small burgers and share a smaller fry.”

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

"I'm a fan of the Five Guys chain and wondered why this particular location was empty whenever I drove by. I finally stopped in, and now I know why.

The burger was sub par (they didn't even bother melting the cheese, which is an absolute necessity at a burger joint).

I ordered an iced tea to eat my food with. Drinks are self serve and their iced tea machine wasn't working. I let them know. There were three workers and no waiting customers (only three customers already eating). I heard them muttering something about fixing it, but no one fixed it. I asked again"

Of course, there's no reason to think Harry Snyder ever travelled, given that he was born right next to Los Angeles in Vancouver and the picture always shown of him is in his military whites.

Those of us born in Missouri don't have to research your filthy lies, Californian. Continue to worship your Canadian overlord. We know what's up.

It was implied.

In the last 12 days this thread has gone 27 pages.

I think this argument is further away now then when it started. We should agree to disagree at this point.

What argument? I don't think that anyone is really disputing that 5G generally has a tasty product.

The rest is just for fun.

I wish FG's would un-invent the soggy and mushy hamburger bun.
Next on the list.Teach Joe T how to properly eat a hamburger with a smaller soggy bun.
fixed
:lmao:

Is Jakes Wayward Burger the same joint you have been talking about?

We got one here in Ashburn and I might give them a shot next week if it's the same one your were gushing about.
I hope it's better than the one near me south of Tampa

No idea what you are talking about?

far as I can tell, that Jake's Wayback chain has very few (if any) locations in Texas. I'm pretty sure Joe was talking about a Dallas chain that I still can't find much information on using the google.

Yeah I did some digging and found a few Dallas locations for a Jakes Uptown Burgers so I will assume this is the place and not the one I was asking about.

One review of the Dallas place I found funny

Not the worst I've had. Start with the fried pickles. I had the cheeseburger and rings. Burger was good but those poppyseed buns tend to fall apart

I'd like to personally thank In-N-Out for their contribution to literature. Some dude copied all the passages off their napkins, bags, wrappers, etc. and invented the bible.

While I appreciate that you think that, I would appreciate citation more.

Perhaps Officer Pete Malloy can give us an in-person account?

While to be extra true the first drive through was at a bank in NY years before Red did it. So he didn't invent anything really. But he did it a year before In Out according to every source I have read. Jack in the Box and McDonald's have both tried to lay claim to this as well. They were both years late to the party though.

arguing over who did what in 1948 should really help us get another 10 pages out of this thread.
I started it for a reason.

Of course that reason was actually to point out that since 5G seems to be pulling heavily from In-N-Out's playbook (a point that no one seems to be disputing) it seems fair that they should be compared to each other. Which is something that others seem to disagree with.

I am happy with the direction that it is heading though.

maybe I overstated things earlier by saying they couldn't be compared, but I'm still not sure I see the point.

If the argument is that FG sucks in comparison to I&O, but most of us can't get to an I&O with any regularity, where does that leave us?

Maybe it's still better than the other chain options that most of us have access to (it is).

So who in here has ordered fries well done at any of the following places:

McDonalds

Burger King

Wendy's

Jack In The Box

Hardee's

Sonic

Carls Jr.

Checkers

Whataburger

Culver's

White Castle

Arby's

Dairy Queen

Wait? There needs to be a point?

You dug this foxhole, don't you dare turn your back on me.

He is already halfway back to HQ and you just noticed he was missing.

Fortunately, he's a 5G eater. He'll be slowed by that.

Anywhere I get fries, I always order them "Hot, fresh and crispy". That way I don't feel bad sending them back if they aren't right.

Still can't believe Five Guys forgot the hamburger patty in my burger to go from 2009. How does that happen? I bet In & Out has never forgotten the burger patty in a burger to go.
