Not sure...Didn't I&O copy a ton from McDs? Who cares?
McDonalds - 1948 they reorganized their business as a hamburger stand (They were bbq from 1940 until then)
I & O started in 1948.

Actually the entire story of who invented the drive through is contested. Truest story.Red Chaney, 1947. Truer story. They invented the drive-through speaker. True story.Yes, I know In-N-Out is older than 5G. Do you think they invented the French Fry?
It is interesting that one guy who invented stuff all the time opened a drive through on Route 66 in 1947, which Route ends in Los Angeles, where a guy who started a business in 1948 who's never invented anything else claims to have started the whole thing.Actually the entire story of who invented the drive through is contested. I don't think I've given enough respect to INO. I had no idea they invented cooking the fries a little longer when asked.
1948: the year someone finally had the guts to ask "I wonder what would happen if I waited 30 seconds?"I don't think I've given enough respect to INO. I had no idea they invented cooking the fries a little longer when asked.

Of course, there's no reason to think Harry Snyder ever travelled, given that he was born right next to Los Angeles in Vancouver and the picture always shown of him is in his military whites.Henry Ford said:It is interesting that one guy who invented stuff all the time opened a drive through on Route 66 in 1947, which Route ends in Los Angeles, where a guy who started a business in 1948 who's never invented anything else claims to have started the whole thing.Chaka said:Actually the entire story of who invented the drive through is contested. Next on the list.Teach Joe T how to properly eat a hamburger with a smaller bun.I wish FG's would un-invent the soggy and mushy hamburger bun.
Stop apologizing for that Canadian idea thief. This thread just started. In the last 12 days this thread has gone 27 pages.
I think this argument is further away now then when it started. We should agree to disagree at this point.

Is Jakes Wayward Burger the same joint you have been talking about?
We got one here in Ashburn and I might give them a shot next week if it's the same one your were gushing about.

Bumps for Joe T.I get in out of Jake's Burgers with a superior burger, better fries, a beer and a tip for less than 5 guys. And they don't yell at all.
Yeah I did some digging and found a few Dallas locations for a Jakes Uptown Burgers so I will assume this is the place and not the one I was asking about.far as I can tell, that Jake's Wayback chain has very few (if any) locations in Texas. I'm pretty sure Joe was talking about a Dallas chain that I still can't find much information on using the google.
Not the worst I've had. Start with the fried pickles. I had the cheeseburger and rings. Burger was good but those poppyseed buns tend to fall apart
My statement is correct. Red's didn't have speakers at its drive-through in 1947.Henry Ford said:Red Chaney, 1947. Truer story.Maurile Tremblay said:They invented the drive-through speaker. True story.Henry Ford said:Yes, I know In-N-Out is older than 5G. Do you think they invented the French Fry?
While to be extra true the first drive through was at a bank in NY years before Red did it. So he didn't invent anything really. But he did it a year before In Out according to every source I have read. Jack in the Box and McDonald's have both tried to lay claim to this as well. They were both years late to the party though. While I appreciate that you think that, I would appreciate citation more.
Perhaps Officer Pete Malloy can give us an in-person account?
If anybody can, we can.arguing over who did what in 1948 should really help us get another 10 pages out of this thread.![]()

Wait? There needs to be a point?maybe I overstated things earlier by saying they couldn't be compared, but I'm still not sure I see the point.
If the argument is that FG sucks in comparison to I&O, but most of us can't get to an I&O with any regularity, where does that leave us?
Maybe it's still better than the other chain options that most of us have access to (it is).
So who in here has ordered fries well done at any of the following places:
McDonalds
Burger King
Wendy's
Jack In The Box
Hardee's
Sonic
Carls Jr.
Checkers
Whataburger
Culver's
White Castle
Arby's
Dairy Queen
You dug this foxhole, don't you dare turn your back on me.maybe I overstated things earlier by saying they couldn't be compared, but I'm still not sure I see the point.
