Breaking news on CNN. Zimmerman raised over $200,000 on his website.
Was Zimmerman required to disclose his complete financial situation during the bond hearing? Did he simply have to say the family could not afford the requested $1 million bond the prosecution wanted? Which is still true. I don't see how the court doesn't realize Zimmerman could have made some donations from his website that was well known. It was even posted here in this thread.
O'mara was under the impression that Zimmerman had taken donations of 7-800 in one paypal account and 7-8 grand in another. He was expecting to use most of that plus a small note on the parent's place to make bond. As I understand it, the parents did get a loan. Nice son, eh?
O'mara at the hearing says, "I don't know the specifics of some fund that is out there that is not administered by me. I don't know what the amount is." So, if he was "under the impression" that is not true. As far as the parents. Once again, people on this board will bash this guy based on assumptions. We do not know what agreement the family may have where they agreed to take out a loan. The max the payment to get him out of jail was $15K of which Zimmerman paid 5K. They may have taken a loan out for Zimmerman because they can get a better interest rate, they unlike Zimmerman (now that the paypal account has been removed) have steady income and can make the payments, maybe O'Mara told Zimmerman we can not touch the donations for the hearing, so he put it in an account Zimmerman can not touch right now, they realize that the attorney's fees will be a heck of a lot more, or they feel sorry for their son, so they want to help. We don't know.
