Foo Fighters are the greatest rock and roll band of all time (1 Viewer)

I only caught the first hour of the concert, I think its gonna restream tomorrow (Sat) at 1pm at the above link.

I'm sure it will be online somewhere soon... I wonder if they're gonna do a concert at each city after each Sonic Highways episode.

Set list from last night:

All My Life

I'll Stick Around

Rope

Up in Arms (Dedicated to Steve Albini)

Big Me

White Limo

Arlandria

My Hero

Stiff Competition (Cheap Trick cover w/Rick Nielsen - Taylor on lead vocals, Dave on drums)

Cold Day in the Sun (Taylor on lead vocals)

Miss You (Rolling Stones cover w/Taylor on lead vocals)

Generator

Walk

Learn to Fly

This Is a Call

The Pretender

Best of You

Surf Combat (Naked Raygun cover w/Jeff Pezzati)

Weenie Beenie

Surrender (Cheap Trick cover w/Rick Nielsen)

Something From Nothing (w/Rick Nielsen)

Everlong

Two things:

1) No Monkey Wrench?! Hmmm...

2) The Stones cover was sick.

:headbang:

One thing that was made abundantly clear last night, at least to me, is that Rick Nielsen is a grade a jagoff.
I missed the last half of the show...what did he do to make you think that?
Not from the doc, but the live stream....

I think the second he got on stage, he grabbed the mic and took a shot at Bun E Carlos.

Back story

Not the time and place for your petty legal battles to be aired out, Rick

It rubbed me the wrong way and probably set the tone for my perception of him for the rest of the night. From then on, he just seemed to have a 'this is about me' aura to him.

Well this week is the most he's been in the spotlight in like 25 years...he must have forgot how to act. Grohl slobbering all over his knob probably hasn't helped. Lol

The show is pretty impressive.. Grohl has got to be the hardest working dude in music. Hard to believe they made 8 of these.

I always thought Ian MacKaye's musical influence on guys who were establishing their own careers in 1990 must be overstated. Sure enough that whole scene was Bad Brains and a bunch of white kids trying to be them.

Missed on on tickets here in Nashville. Doing the same thing Friday night at the Ryman for the Nashville episode.

Loving the show and concept so far.

Will be in NO for Voodoo this weekend. Outside of Outkast on Friday, I'm really looking forward to seeing these guys on Sunday.

These shows are selling out in minutes....good luck guys, here's hoping y'all can score tickets.

I have to wait for the tour next year...but I WILL go to at least one show...gonna shoot for 2.

I ended up getting tickets for the Chicago show from a third party online site. Yes, the brokers gobble these up in seconds. In my mind, well worth the markup I had to pay to see these guys.

What did you pay?

Nashville show was

Johnny, Dolly, Willie, Zac Brown, Walon from the Wire, and a glimpse of The King.

This was actually better than I thought it would be. I know Dave's Nashville and country music vocab is slim to none and thought he might fumble it (same suspicion about New Orleans). Forgiving the WAY too much attention given to Zack Brown, he obviously sought counsel from the right somebody to nab Emmy, Steve Earle, Willie and Dolly and got some good stuff from them. That's pretty much all you need right there. Still...no Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, or Bill Monroe?

ETA: Big bonus points though for having Steve performing Ft. Worth Blues at the heart of the bit on great songwriting. One of my favorite songs.

This HBO series is absolutely fascinating, I am glued to the TV when I watch it, and the whole concept and execution by Grohl is nothing short of brilliant.

Met Grohl in the quarter Saturday night. Was at this place called Yo Mama's having a burger after a day of drinking. He walked in and sat at the bar. My friend brought him over to the table and I shook his hand. He was such a nice person to everyone in the place. He had a few beers and played some music on the jukebox.

Their performance at Voodoo was amazing. I'm not a huge fan, but it was one of the top Rock and Roll concerts I've ever seen.

Wow! That's pretty ####### cool.Eta: what did he play on the Juke? And how did your friend bring him over to the table? Does he know him? I can't imagine a random dude going up to Grohl and saying 'hey, come to this table and meet these dudes'.

Also, pics or GTFO. If I ever met Grohl, I'd get a pic with him or die trying.

20 years! Jeebus im getting old. Doesn't seem that long ago i heard the quiet long haired drummer from Nirvana was putting out an album that he played all the instruments on. I wonder if Kurt hadn't ended it if Grohl would have ever blossomed the way he has.

Man...the Foos have always been relentless when it comes to touring, but I'm wondering if they're only gonna be playing a handful of stadium shows next year...if so I may have to pony up and fly somewhere to see them.

I wish I knew, because I could get tickets to the RFK show tomorrow, but am hoping they come yo the South so I could drive instead of fly.

i can somewhat verify this story.....girl i work with was in nashville this weekend with boyfriend. not sure of where they were, but the BF slips outside and sitting by himself on some stairs is grohl. he asks grohl for a picture and no problem. grohl chats him up and even lets them come into his dressing room for a bit. seems like a regular dude.
