For those looking to use WR matrix (1 Viewer)

Sabertooth

I just plugged all of my stuff into the matrix and I got some different looking tiers. Here were my rankings by team

Code:
Name Distribution	Focus	GradeGreen Bay Duo Pass	CDetroit Typical Pass	BMinnesota	Committee Run	DChicago Typical Run	CRedskin Go-to Guy	Balanced	DGiants Go-to Guy	Balanced	DCowboys Go-to Guy	Balanced	CEagles Committee	Pass	B49ers Committee	Run	CCardinals Duo	Balanced	BSeahawks Duo	Run	BRams Go-to Guy	Balanced	ABucs Duo	Balanced	DSaints Typical	Balanced	AFalcons Duo	Run	DPanthers Go-to Guy	Pass	CIndy Duo	Pass	AJags Committee	Run	BTexans Go-to Guy	Run	CTitans Committee	Run	CSteelers Duo	Run	BBrowns Go-to Guy	Run	DBengals Duo	Pass	ARavens Duo	Balanced	CChargers Committee	Run	AChiefs Committee	Run	CBroncos Go-to Guy	Run	CRaiders Typical	Balanced	DBills Go-to Guy	Balanced	CPats Typical	Balanced	ADolphins Duo	Balanced	CJets Duo	Run	C
Are these ratings way off in any place? Grade is for overall offense.

Just a few quibbles, Mr. Tooth

-----------------------------------

Jets might deserve at least a B. Have a shot at an A.

Cowboys seem more like a B to me, and might be more Duo (Glenn).

I'd have the Panthers as Balanced.

Steelers = Go-to guy?

Chargers = Go-to guy (Gates)

Chiefs = Run subject to change with LJ's holdout

Nobody deserves an F? Raiders and Browns, perhaps

Jets might deserve at least a B. Have a shot at an A. Really? That good?

Cowboys seem more like a B to me, and might be more Duo (Glenn). I think T.O. is quite a bit more targetted than Glenn.

I'd have the Panthers as Balanced.OK

Steelers = Go-to guy? Is Ward not the go-to-guy?

Chargers = Go-to guy (Gates) this is a wideout only tool

Chiefs = Run subject to change with LJ's holdout we'll have to stay tooned

Nobody deserves an F? Raiders and Browns, perhaps Good point on Oakland

I'd point out that even though T. Brady gets a ton of passing yards, last year and past few yrs it's been hard to start a NE WR. They just spread the ball around so much. One of those, if you start them...not much to talk about, but if you left them on the bench...they put up good numbers. They have Randy now, but they also added Stallworth and Welker could even gets some valuable targets in the slot.

Most of your A grades lead to PRIME WR's, but unless something changes...I view NE WR's with caution. Granted that could all change since they now have more talent at the position than ever before.

Interesting: TO had 47% of targets last year while Glenn had 34%. While that might sound like "Duo", it meets neither that definition (b/c TO's % is too high) or the "go-to guy" definition (b/c Glenn's % is too high) as stated by Herman. Perhaps some clarification is needed.

Always one of my favorite articles :(

i have no idea how to use it, but i like looking at it

I made a table, which I can't show, comparing the FBG WR projections with the grades. I know the grades are for team production, but that would have taken much longer.

Some findings:

ARI and DET may deserve A grades.

DAL probably deserves a B (8th overall)

NO projections are surprisingly low.

ATL probably deserves an F, at least with respect to WR prod.

SD's grade of A differs radically from their 24th-ranked projection. Likewise, JAX has a B grade but is 23rd.

I think the next step is to look at a couple of interesting situations (NE, NO, ATL, come to mind) and see what the matrix recommends, and see if that makes sense to us.

Try PMing one of the moderators -- they could attach it to the thread.

 Any takers?

It took me a while to find time.

Note: this uses Sabertooth's team rankings, with a couple of my own modifications above (Jets grade higher, etc).

I took herman's rankings and sorted the teams into them based on our evaluation, then removed unused ranks and re-ranked. Voila.

Rank Herman rank Team(s) pos1 2 STL WR12 6 IND/CIN WR13 10 BUF/CAR WR13 10 IND/CIN WR25 13 DET WR15 13 HOU/DEN WR15 13 NO/NE WR18 14 GB WR18 14 NYG/WAS WR110 17 DAL/AZ WR111 18 GB WR212 22 BAL/MIA WR112 22 DAL/AZ WR214 23 CLE WR115 25 SEA/PIT/NYJ WR116 27 BAL/MIA WR216 27 TB WR118 28 CHI WR119 29 PHI WR120 30 SEA/PIT/NYJ WR221 32 SD WR121 32 TB WR223 33 OAK WR124 35 ATL WR124 35 DET WR224 35 PHI WR227 37 JAX WR128 38 SD WR229 40 ATL WR230 42 NO/NE WR231 43 JAX WR232 45 STL WR233 46 SF/TEN/KC WR134 52 SF/TEN/KC WR235 53 PHI WR336 55 MIN WR137 56 SD WR338 57 BUF/CAR WR239 61 DET WR339 61 JAX WR339 61 MIN WR242 62 NO/NE WR342 62 OAK WR244 63 NYG/WAS WR245 64 CHI WR246 66 STL WR347 67 IND/CIN WR348 69 HOU/DEN WR249 70 SF/TEN/KC WR350 79 MIN WR351 81 DAL/AZ WR352 82 BUF/CAR WR353 83 CLE WR253 83 GB WR3Okay, some brief analysis. (Mostly I just wanted to get this posted--I haven't looked very closely at the results)It would have Holt (STL WR1) in at #1. Perhaps some would back them down from Go-to-guy to duo or typical, which would decrease his ranking behind some others up there.

Seeing CJ and Harrison up there is no surprise, and neither is Steve Smith, but we'd have Lee Evans a bit higher than I typically see based on this. This approach also justifies the early selections of Housh and Wayne.

Looking lower, one surprise is that the highest-ranked WR3 comes from...PHI! This is because we have them as a Committee, so all their WRs get more equal touches, while IND's and CIN's WR3s are in Duos and get fewer touches. Notable.

Discuss...

[sorry about the formatting. Tried cleaning it up a bit]

Just another note: the last WR1 off the board according to this would be MIN's. No surprise there, eh?

Joey Galloway ranks higher than I expected when I did mine. Boldin/Fitz both ranked lower in mine because I made them a balanced offense, which I suspect they will become this year. Could be wrong on that though.
