I know it's part of a poster's responsibility to keep the Shark Pool "excellent" but I wonder how effective most think it is. It's one thing to direct a WDIS thread to the right area, or help defuse a hothead who is being insulting. But it seems like we have more and more posters who are just waiting to pounce on anyone who even mentions their team, beat down anyone who might be posting something about a lineup dilemma or rip into someone with a Honda reference if another thread exists.

Some just don't know about some of the protocol, make an innocent mistake or a harmless faux pas. Are we doing everyone a service or disservice by having so many folks ready to pounce on a mistake (perceived or genuine)?

I'm not talking about the staff, or those who simply use the report function. I mean those who are at the ready with a witty response or slam at every turn. Just wondering what people think.

Please take this to the FFA.

Do you know why I pulled you over?

overall i would say it helps.

when i am reading through a thread and have to wade through half the posts which are talking about how the subject of the thread affects their team, it is annoying.

i will say though, that the posts pointing out how worthless a "dang this screws up my team" post is, actually do add more clutter as well, so i really don't know what the answer is. (especially if this starts a pissing match between the two posters.)

hondas are difficult. i find the search function to be difficult at best, but if there is a thread on the same subject on the first few pages, there is no reason to start a new thread.

:wall:

those are the people that have losing teams and are looking to take it out on what they percieve as seemingly stupid or ignorant posters :wall: ....or there just busy bodies :IBTL:

On a more serious note... I HATE that crap, even more than the Patriots.

If you want to run a message board, get your own... Let the mods run this one. They do just fine.

This might not end well........

I do know what point you are trying to make though. In many ways I would like to see entire posts deleted but it just may not be practicle.

My biggest peeve is the two guys who bicker back and forth and have the entire argument included with each post.

I do hate to see how quickly some people jump on someone too.

I believe we are supposed to be excellent to each other.

Maybe this gets moved in 5-4-3-2-1.......

 It doesn't help when there are multiple nicknames for players either. For example, you have to search for Chris Johnson but get little action since some call him CJ3 and now on to LBJ. And of course I can't search using just 3 letters. :wall:

I don't mind people trying to police the board --- just when they have to start new threads to do it.

while we're at it...

i also hate when there are 15 posts that say the exact same thing in a thread. obviously, some people are going to have the same opinion, and if you are trying to add something to the discussion, (even if you are not sucessful), by all means, post away! i even don't mind the "good posting" smilie.

i just get sick of reading the exact same post over and over. it's already been said, i don't need to hear YOU say it too.

Most of it is OK, like redirecting WDIS threads, etc. The problem I have is when multiple people do it. Read the thread to make sure someone else hasn't already posted that it should be in the AC forum. We don't need 4 people saying the same thing.

The biggest problem though is the grammar and spelling cops, these people need to go take a flying leap in most cases. The only time it is OK is if somebody politely points out that someone's post is hard to read because they wrote a whole paragraph without any commas or periods.

Edited to bold the word "politely"

people with too much time on their hands....Hey, if they want to micromanage an internet message board filled with useless threads go nuts....

whatever floats your boat.

Answer = everyone is a tough guy on the internet.

Put these clowns in a room face to face w/the people they bash & they will sit in the corner like the #### they are.

OK, I'll bite and play board cop in the board cop thread. Stop it, just stop it. This is what the OP is talking about. In a meaningful thread this is the stuff that makes it hard to wade through to find useful information.Edited to say I did find it kind of funny in this case. You are helping to make the OP's point.

The nickname police are worst than the general board police.

Like anything else, pointing out things in a constructive manner seems to work, but coming off like a tool only magnifies the problem.

 Absolutely. The "Internet Tough Guy Syndrome" wears thin.

What bothers me even more about "the posting police" around here is that they hammer people one minute, then turn around and do the same thing themselves the next. One only needs to look as far as this thread.

Kindly redirecting someone with a WDIS thread is one thing, but most of "the police" around here act like jerks. These forums have mods - let them do their jobs.

 But don't point out that someone is being a "tool"...that can get you a time out......

i'm glad someone brought this up!

This one is easy although the answer will be different from the handful of people that read the forum that vote on this one. Non mod help is not just helpful but essential to the forum staying alive. Without folks helping, it would without question go away.

So please - the folks that are helping with the reporting, please keep doing what you're doing. If you have trouble posting and staying on topic and being excellent to each other, find another board.
