When I was renovating my kids bathroom I had the kids draw and paint stuff on the inside of the drywall that was exposed from the rooms surrounding that bathroom. I then put some newspapers in there and also wrote our names and dates of the renovations for the next guy to find.
4 or 5 owners ago of our house was a younger kid early 20s (neighbor said his parents bought him the house the get him out of their's). Turns out he started selling drugs out of the house and the cops raided a party (neighbor said it was like a movie, cops jumping over the fence from surrounding yards) and they ended up dragging a huge safe out into the street to bust it open. Twice in the first few months of living here we had plain clothes detectives show up asking for the kid, every few years we still get his social security account statements, I may have opened the last one and for the last 15 years or so he had 0 income, guessing he is in prison somewhere. I am convinced at some point during a remodel I will find either a kilo of drugs or a roll of money that he hid and forgot about. Above one of the basement ceiling tiles i did find a bunched up piece of foil that had burn marks on it.![]()
