Fred Davis concussion (1 Viewer)

Mon, Sep 17 Davis suffered a concussion Sunday against the Rams, Rich Campbell of the Washington Times reports. Recommendation: Coach Mike Shanahan noted Monday that Davis is in line to be subjected to the NFL concussion's protocol after absorbing a helmet-to-helmet hit Sunday. If Davis is forced to miss any action, starting with Sunday's game against the Bengals, then Niles Paul (three catches for 13 yards Sunday) would presumably be next in line for the Redskins' tight end targets. Seriously? He already wasn't doing anything...ugh.

Probably for the best cause now you can just stick someone in who might actually put up points instead of hoping Davis takes off again.

In his defense, he was totally rocked on that hit. Totally helmet to helmet, and a fine is coming to that truck that hit him.

This is where preseason can help (to all the people who say it does not).

Griffin did not use Davis much in the preseason and this was pretty obvious. This trend continued into the regular season. Perhaps things will change.

The fact that RG3 is a rookie means that preseason targets could have have been more reliable than other qbs, maybe.

Conclusion: preseason stats don't matter until they do. ;)

With Garcon out, that was Davis's shot at picking up the slack. I'm cutting bait. RG3 is playing out of his mind, but this offense clearly revolves around Garcon and controlling the clock.

It did. Now with Orakpo and Carriker lost for the year, it likely revolves around trying to score a lot of points to try and catch up.

They lost both of those guys early- he had 4 targets in the 2nd half (one reversed by penalty), but unless he picks up slack from Garcon's injury AND Morgan going to the doghouse for his penalty at the end of the game, that's a lot of other guys that need to get outta the way for him to profit.

I just traded to get Fred Davis TE in my 32 tm Dynasty cause I'm tired of Zach Miller SEA and Rob Housler AZ giving me nothing. So now I"m like

i think it is time to be concerned but not panic.

i drafted olsen in case something like this happened.

with that said i am actively trying to package something up to upgrade the te position, but i would not just drop him as davis did lead the team in targets in week 2.

I haven't seen much of Washington, is he ever running any downfield routes? That's what gave him value last year was his long catches... seems like he's just running safety valve type routes and Griffen is missing him when he checks down.

i have not seen him more than 15 yards downfield. it definitely has been more of the 4th read of a progression or safety valve type plays to date.

Picked up Dennis Pitta as a speculative add last week. Think I'm going to roll with him while I look into a potential upgrade at the position.

He was targeted frequently this week, decent chance he's on some wires out there.

This is a bit misleading as he tied for top targets with Morgan. But Griffin looked to Morgan before Davis, so he still looks like 3rd option at best, and he may take a step even further back if he misses time now.If you have a spot to spare, sit on him, but I wouldn't be comfortable putting him out there as a every week starter when guys like Chandler, Pitta, Bennett at least give you red zone opportunities.
