There has to be a record of his purchase history prior to leaving Utah, including fuel. They should be able to at least piece together some details without his help

biggest issue is her car.  he left her somewhere.  whether alive or dead, he left her somewhere.
i'd like to know the geo-location of the text her mom received from her phone on 8/30 "no reception in yosemite".    mom doesn't think it was from her.

he reportedly was back in florida on 9/1.

Strange that there are no updates to the married couple that were shot dead at their campsite near Arches on Aug 14 or so.  Chief Wiggums running point out there?

yeah,  it was " no signal in yosemite"  link- i misquoted and said reception.  actually this link says "no service"...but both links indicate from yosemite.
If she was as OCD as she claimed while hitting him for having dirty feet in her van, I’d be surprised if she could handle the lower case N to start that text

Or he sent the text trying to throw people off the trail.

It's been 25 years since I went to Yosemite but I recall a long row of entry gates to get in...with today's technology, would be easy to prove if they ever made it there, right?  If not, how does he explain that?

if the 9/1 arrival in florida for him is accurate...that's a 2,500+ mile drive in 2 days in a van if (he/they) were in yosemite.    it's just another odd thing to me in this awful story.

Yosemite valley. but there's more to Yosemite than the Valley.

60mph average gives him approximately 42 hours of drive time and 6 hours of sleep in a 48 hour window.

Just read a bit about this case.  First off, shocked a missing attractive young blond girl has gotten so much attention.  j/k.

She seemed on the brink of a mental breakdown in the police video.  Wouldn't doubt if she committed suicide and he freaked out.

Sad story no matter what the outcome.

The guy could be a psycho killer but it's premature to assume he murdered her.

Possible scenario: They argue, in her mania she gets out and walks off into the dark. Next morning she’s no where to be found. In light of the previous domestic incident he decides it’s best to just go home because he’s pretty certain no one will believe him.

Right. And he hires the attorney because he damn well knows he's gonna be suspect #1 and presumed guilty AF in the court of public opinion.

Who’s driving 60 mph? His grandma?

Maybe we should ask her.....

Even hauling ### once you factor in stops for gas and small towns it's hard to truly average more than 60.  Those sprinter Vans don't exactly just cruise at 95 either.

So, parked their van somewhere and hiked in....he hiked out and drove home?  Should be easy to prove or disprove, no?  They also seemed pretty tethered to that van....
I mean it is the home, so I get that piece of it.  A lot of these national parks you need reservations to enter with Covid and that certainly true of Yosemite where at a minimum you need say reservations to even get into the park.
Yosemite’s cell service is absolute crap as well.

There were also a bunch of fires in that area around that time and at one point California shut down all the state parks.

of course he'll be suspect #1 even if innocent.  anyone with a brain would get an attorney on board whether they are guilty or innocent.

Yosemite vs Yellowstone is a 5 hour difference per Google Maps. Still doesn't seem plausible he made either drive in two days...

He killed her and hid/buried her somewhere in the vast wilderness. He's thinking as long as they don't find her, they can't charge him with murder. No body, no crime. If and when they find her, and he gets officially charged, then and only then will he talk.

Until then, he's not gonna give any info that will lead authorities to her and send him to prison.

Bet.

"Police in Utah are investigating a potential link between 'van-life' woman Gabby Petito's disappearance and the murder of a woman who worked at the Moab co-op where Petito and fiancé Brian Laundrie had an explosive fight. Six days after Petito and Laundrie had a physical altercation at Moonflower Community Cooperative, store worker Kylen Schulte, 24, and her wife Crystal Turner, 38, were found dead and partially undressed where they had been camping. Schulte and Turner told friends about a 'creepy man' that had been bothering them and that 'if something happened to them, that they were murdered.' On August 18, their bodies were found at a campsite in the La Sal Mountains, an hour away from Moab. Around the time Schulte and Turner were killed in Utah, police across the state line in San Miguel County, Colorado warned campers after they found more than 30 weapons at a man's campsite in Telluride, just over two hours away from Moab. Police said his whereabouts were unknown and it is unclear if police eventually arrested him. "

PLOT TWIST!!!!

Obviously, I don't know what this guy knows.  That said, if I had information that could help in finding her ALIVE I would absolutely provide it to the authorities, and my attorney can kiss my petunia.  I couldn't live with myself if I had information that could help and she ended up dead because I didn't provide it to protect myself.
I don't know man.  I've heard prison doesn't take kindly to guys convicted of murdering women

With regards to talking to the police, I saw this video awhile back and it really stuck with me.  It's not a short video, but it definitely changed my mindset.

I'm not saying you're wrong, in fact, I agree with you 100% it's just that without watching all 45 minutes of all that, I learned the exact same thing from a 3 minute Tom Segura routine : https://youtu.be/0kM7aXofMC4?t=241 . . . and everyone who either suffers from a bit of ADD or you're just too lazy (like me) to watch that whole thing PlayaHata posted. . . you're welcome!

I learned my lesson when I was 27 years old.  I was in a big hurry to get to work because I had a meeting, was running late and I woke up late.  So, I'm doing like 70+ in a 55, I go around a corner and *bam* there's a state highway patrol officer waiting there with a radar gun and he lit 'em up.

So, he pulls me over and said "Do you know why I pulled you over?"  Like an IDIOT, I said "Yes, because I was speeding."  He said "How fast do you think you were going?"  I said "approximately 70 is my best guess knowing full well I was doing closer to 80 than 70.  And he said "Okay, great, so that's not why I pulled you over.  I pulled you over for an expired tag but since you volunteered that you were speeding and the rate of speed, I'm going to write you up for two tickets today."

And by God he did, I got two tickets that day.  So for the last 25 years when they ask "Do you know why I pulled you over?"  I ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS say "No sir, I have absolutely no idea!"  I've even been baited before.  One time the officer pulled me over and he said "Do you know why I pulled you over?"  I said "No sir."  He said "seriously, you have no idea?  What did you think when you were in the passing lane passing everyone else up?"  I said "I thought that I was using the proper lane, the passing lane, to pass everyone else up, was I not supposed to do that?" :)

Aw ####, I'll be there too.  4th row right side.

But I kept thinking about that Segura line throughout this thread "I'm gonna go to the cops and straighten this whole thing out. You're gonna do 25-life, have fun with that"
