Game of Thrones on HBO: non-book thread (1 Viewer)

Remind me why carstarks kills the kids now rather than before?
They probably didn't know they were there and they were under guard.
Ok, well what's the upside here? They kill two kids who were what? 2nd cousins to the king? Is that about right? Probably somewhere in the 4th-6th in line for the throne and prospects dwindling of staying in the top 10 rapidly. They knew they'd be caught and killed most likely, for what? To make a name? Seems an odd choice.

He knew they were there and under guard but he was held in check by Robb. His grief and need for vengeance finally outweighed his brains. The North wasn't really a kingdom under Ned. He "ruled" but wasn't a king. The Northmen are bannermen to the Starks, which is why they're supporting Robb as King in the North, but they're not used to being completely subservient to a man as their ruler. They're largely unregulated up there and don't have to deal with obeying a single man all the time. They were gathered together to fight a common enemy, but in Karstark's estimation, Robb was dilly-dallying too much, idiot Catelyn had undermined him by letting Jaime go to save her sons and Robb was lenient with her for doing so, and going to Riverrun for a funeral was an unnecessary distraction from the war effort. Most likely a little wine sprinkled in and finally the insult of other lives being put in front of his sons' lives was too much to bear.

Someone explain to me where the other little brother is now. Bran was with the other brother who is never shown and he wondered away a few episodes ago. Is he on his own now, no idea what is going on with that storyline

This was a great explanation.

OK first of all, in order of appearance, let's rank the asses we got to see.

1. The redheaded wildling...Egress or whatever. We suddenly like her a lot more than we did before. Tight front, great back. We like. Two thumbs up that one!

2. Jon Snow. Only a momentary glimpse, but it looks good. Let's hope for more from this Emo Crow, as long as it means more Egress nudies.

3. The Kingslayer Jamie Lannister. That's just a really good man-butt. Good for him. Sucks that he lost a hand, but there's always that ### to fall back on...so to speak.

4. She-Ra. I'm truly impressed. I was not expecting anything even in the realm of respectability there. Good on ya, she-hulk! :pickle: Although now that I'm thinking about it, there's a strong possibility that that was a stunt-butt. Hmmmm...not appreciating the potential deception here.

5. The Gay Succubus. Ummmmmm, am I alone in thinking that was a pretty great ### no matter what the front gear entailed? Seriously, if I was dating a girl with that ###, I would force yoga pants on her every time we left the house. :oldunsure:

So Jorrah killed Baric one of the six times? And Jorrah doesn't know Baric is still alive? Interesting setup for something that is probably not going to happen for 5 years IRL.

no, Jorah's been on Essos the whole time during the current war in Westeros, so he couldn't have killed Dondarrion.I don't remember all the times Beric said he'd been killed, but I think he said Lannisters twice and that each Clegane got him once - don't know the other two.

Agreed - blinded by vengeance for killing his son.

I know he said that was the 6th time he had been brought back.

Pretty sure he said the first was The Mountain, which would make sense and would mean that Jorah wasn't one of them. Don't think he named names for all the times he died, but they described the wounds for each.

He just wanted to kill Lannisters for revenge. He's old school.

So there are three competing magic forces as well? I need to keep reading the books.

-White Walker stuff - No indication of where they get their powers from.

-Dany dragon stuff - Born into it somehow.

--Assuming the Warlock stuff is a subset here

-Lord of light Resurrection stuff and dead baby snipers

I fear this will bring out a far too informed book reader comment though.

that's the sequence from the books, but I thought he told it a little differently last night.

Also, the Lannister kids were captured and held at Riverrun, while Karstark has been in the field with Rob's army until last week's episode.

The Jamie / Brienne conversation was the best of the show last night IMO, but I missed a piece of it. I couldn't really hear what was said right before she got pissed and sprang out of the water. What was that about? I know he ended with a background on the killing of the Mad King (which was great), but what happened right before that?

He said something to the effect of "You still have an oath to bring me to Kings Landing, no wonder Renly got killed on your watch"

Can someone answer in spoiler tags whether Gendry bails on Anya or not? I'd like to know this in advance, and it seems like a small point. Girl just can't seem to keep a crew together for 2 episodes. Everyone gets killt or bails.

Never read the book so cant help you, but why would you want ANY part of the show to be spoiled for you?

[otis]She'd be o.k. if she lost 20-30 lbs. I mean, I can't floss with her and she has actual boobs. And just wait until she blows up in about 5 years. <insert unflattering bikini pictures here> :X [/otis]

wow thanks, missed the "in one piece" thing, makes that line even more powerful.

Can someone explain to me what is going on with Bran's little brother? I know they never focus on him but he is a Stark boy.

This. They have been excellent. Great chemistry. Haven't read any of the books, but I see a love interest of sorts between the two developing.

If someone cut her down right now I could see Jamie doing a blood lust killing spree.

rickon is just along for the ride with Bran, Hodor, the reeds, the wolves and Osha
Until he kills Jaime...
whoooaaaaaa, fixed that for you
OMG FAKE SPOILER. AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!Yeah right? Everyone knows Bran sacrifices Rickon to the Walkers in return for a pair of working goat legs. It's simple enough to read between the lines of his dreams.

He was the Hand, not the king. He didn't have the throne, he could still be overruled by Robert, so he can't reclaim it. In fact, did he even actually sit on it, or use another chair? Seems like a Ned thing to do, and I can't remember.

Speaking of Robert, where are the Baratheons in all this?
