Game of Thrones on HBO: non-book thread (1 Viewer)

I get that the song was a cue to Frey that everything was ready but it wasn't noticed by anyone except Kat and even she sat down to listen to Frey's speech after they stopped playing it. She had the idea that something was up but she wasn't that alarmed. I almost wish they would have begun the carnage as soon as she recognized the song. When the guard closed the door and she looked up at the band, I said that they must be playing the Lannister song (even if I didn't recognize it) The brief stop and Freys speech gave me time to realize that this must be the carnage everyone (book readers) talked about. No one is safe! I knew right away they would all die. Nice try by Kat but there was no way Frey was letting any of them go.

I thought Frey saying "The King in the North arises" was such a brutal line right there. The guy playing Frey was perfect.
I am pretty sure that Frey never says "My King" or any other similar phrases that carry a connotation of fealty.

So that Bolton guy w/the chainmail under his clothes - he's from the North, right? Seems like he might be in line to be the new King of the North as the Boltons replace the Starks moving forward. Also, I'm starting to think this entire series is about Tyrion. It pretends that it is about the Starks and the Dragon Momma and other people, but at the end of the day I bet it's going to end up being a big long story about a midget who ####s up his daddy's ####.
No, in the eyes of common knowledge Westeros- Tyrion through his marriage with Stansa is now the Warden of the North. Not King because in the eyes of House Lannister, there is only one King and his name is Tywi.... er, Joffrey.

Assuming (like most do) that Bran his lis little brother died awhile ago, doesn't that make Tyrion the Lord of Winterfell? No way Tywin allows Bolton to rule the North when he could have a Lannister rule it.
No, because he's not part of the bloodline he can't be King of the North Technically, at this point any number of Stark relations could make a claim but Sansa's child would theoretically have the strongest if nobody was able to get the backing for the claim.
Tyrion and Sansa have a strong claim. With support from the Crown and the North in shambles, it seems like perfect time for a new Stark-Lannister family in Winterfell.
Neither of them have a claim. Tyrion isn't blood and Sansa is a woman. Their child would have a claim but they don't.
What episode was that in?
Tyrion talks about it when he is telling Tyrion why he will marry Sansa.

Is Gekko now Mr Ham? Because that would explain a lot.

I'd like to invite George RR Martin into this thread to hopefully kill off some regulars.

Frey isn't a northerner. He is of the Riverlands and his liege lord was Hoster Tully (now Edmure).

Random question: What exactly are Mance and his wildling army trying to accomplish?

A) Are they just trying to march as far south as possible to get away from the White Walkers?

B) Do they want to overtake the North and set up camp at the Castle Black and/or Winterfell?

C) Are they just on a suicide mission to kill as many southerners as possible out of spite before a WW attack?

D) Do they want to warn the southerners about the white walkers and maybe join forces?

I dont get it, what are they trying to accomplish exactly? Clearly I missed something because the more I think about it, if the White Walkers are going to march south and kill everyone then your best bet is to get even further north of them, right?

I assumed B

Tywin has to see Bolton as dishonorable scum. No way he trusts him and he is likely very high on Tywin's #### list.
This is the same Tywin Lannister who, during the rebellion, marched his army to King's Landing under the pretense of defending the city, then sacked it as soon as the Mad King opened the gates, right? Not sure "dishonorable" is a character trait he's holding against anyone.

In the show he said get South of the Wall because the Walkers were coming.

Tywin doesn't care about honor in the way Ned did. Tywin cares about honor in that if Bolton just RW'd Stark's family like that, he would do the same or worse to the Lannisters if given the chance. Bolton is as ruthless as they come and Tywin likely wants to ensure he is always the most ruthless man in Westeros.

Edmure was told by his Uncle Blackfish that he was not his Nephew but his King.

As the last things he says before slaughtering them which seems to be dripping with sarcasm. I am referring all the scenes leading up before the slaughter.

Has anyone posted this yet? Roose Change

Just make sure yuou have annotations on in YouTube.
wow, that's pretty cool.
Why would they kill her if she was the spy that gave them all the information and had a Stark baby inside her?
dead witnesses tell no tales
Tell who? The Lannister clan that she is a part of?

Makes zero sense.

Good effort by the youtube guy though

What makes zero sense is NOT killing your spy if you have the opportunity. Killing her in the massacre is the equivalent of mucking your hand after you've won the pot instead of flipping over your 7/2 offsuit just so everybody at the table knows how great you played your hand. Of course Tywin would have her killed. Theory is solid. I never trusted her from the start.

Killing Talisa....

a) eliminates the trail

b) makes sense if you're really acting out in bloody vengeance against the Starks

The editing of that clip is slick.....but I have to be honest. I haven't read the books and if that's what really happened, this entire series is 10 layers deeper than I ever thought it was.

I take it the Lanisters now need to kill the random Frey or Bolton guy that killed her in order to cover their trail? May as well kill Roose now too?

And who are you eliminating this trail from? She has a ####### Stark baby inside her. That baby, who is a Lannister by this fantasy account would have a claim (the claim?) to the north.

I dont get it

Why does Tywin need a baby with a claim to the north when he's already got the Tyrion/Sansa marriage for his claim?

Her being killed doesn't negate the theory is the only point.. Regardless, it's just a random theory, no point in debating the minutia of it. If it seems bunk to you based on her being killed, cool. Whatever.

I agree the goal is to kill the baby and heir to the Winterfell. That makes perfect sense. Then Sansa and Tyrions kid (a Lannister) has the keys to the North.

Gonna be hard to top last week's episode.

Unless that one guy whose name I don't know stabs that other guy whose name I don't know.

Also, Google thd Black Dinner, it was the historic inspiration for the Red Wedding. Essentially, the powerful Douglas Brothers were invited to dine with thd 10 year old Scottish King. After dinner, they were given a mock trials and despite the young King's pleas, the head of a black bull was dropped on the table to signify death. The brothers were then beheaded.
Stuart scum!
