Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (3 Viewers)

Thorne, wait!!

Even though he has been an antagonist to Jon from the beginning, I have always enjoyed and respected the character. The actor was excellent in this role.

His parting words did not disappoint.

The fact that she is back at square one is more than a little frustrating.  Hell, at this point she didn't even need to be in the story - just hint at Tyrion's love of dragons early on and send him on a quest to find some after he killed his dad or something like that.  Both stories across the sea feel like they have been spinning their wheels for too long (Arya's not as long as Dany's), and like you said both just feel like they are in a holding pattern (to me anyway) for something they are needed for at the end of the story.
I had such high hopes for her storyline once Tyrion was on his way to meet her and then the two finally met and it's gone nowhere since. Right now her storyline is one of the least interesting going on. She needs to get back to Meereen and the two of them need to get to Westeros. As the Honest Trailers has said not once but twice - "Can we just fast forward to that part?"

I thought for a second that Jon was going to pardon him at the last second, glad he didn't. GoT doesn't do pardons.
Jon treated Ollie like his brother (Bran's flashback scene made that point even clearer) and Ollie repaid him by stabbing him in the heart. I'd say he got off pretty damn easily.

So if they rumors are right that they have this season and one more to wrap this up because HBO wants to move on Arya has to get back in the mix soon, but where is she going to be allowed to operate? It took her the better part of two seasons to travel where she is so geographically doesn't make sense for her to be able to transit back in a similar timeframe.

Dany is stuck till stone man shows up and her other two dragons make it, then what? they fly their dragons to westeros the three of them?  At this point there's no time and no navy to get the unsullied to move out.

She's sort of been all over the place though.  I think she could get somewhere directly fairly quickly, like say King's Landing.  Here's her path through the seasons:

Would be cool to see a Stark warg into Hodor to fight ZombieMountain.

Actually, it'd have to be Bran cuz according to Jojen, nobody else can warg into another human.

People complaining about Arya's story not going anywhere. I think her 80's training montage this past week definitely got her to the point where she can now leave Bravvos in the next few episodes.

I think Hodor doesn't realize he's saying Hodor, but thinks he's actually responding. The actor does a good enough job altering the tone of the word Hodor (and uses facial expressions) to match that of what a normal response would sound like.
I want to see a debate between Hodor and Groot.

Jesus Christ can't we at least look at the Dragon Mamma's ta tas, this is HBO after all.  She's standing there naked and all we get are her shoulders?

Emilia Clarke won't do nudity anymore which sucks. On the bright side we'll always have that glorious first episode. She can never take that away from us.

Remind me what motivation Snow would have to take an army against Bolton.  I'm assuming he's gonna find Sansa next week and she's gonna give him the low down, but is that enough and does he have the numbers to do anything?

Ramsay now has Jon's youngest half brother and Ramsay's father killed Jon's older brother and step mother. I'd say he has a lot of motivation for wanting a piece of the Bolton's.

How many total episodes left?

I agree things are getting tight.

The idea of the imp winning the day for the Lannisters annoys me though. Jon restoring the Starks would do it for me but he has to get down there.

And isn't all hell supposed to break loose from the evil from the North? How is the frozen zombie apocalypse supposed to happen?

From what I understand HBO only has one additional season on the books so you are looking at perhaps 17 episodes remaining.

Snow defeats Bolton this season, Zombies break through the wall just as ms dragon pants gets across the narrow sea, Targaryans take over the IT, fade to black.

Not sure where this leaves the imp, but imagine he gets overextended and RIP.

The Boltons betrayed and murdered the Starks at the Red Wedding and Ramsay now occupies Winterfell, claiming be "Warden of the North".

I've watched this show regularly and sober and consider myself a fairly intelligent person and I recognize like three names on that giant map. Wtf.

I read a theory about why Hodor can't talk.  He may have been able to warg and stayed in a horse for too long, and is kind of trapped in between.  The evidence is that Bran was able to warg into him, and he carries Bran in a saddle like a horse.

This may also explain Sarah Jessica Parker

You know, this "After the Thrones" show isn't bad.  The absence of Chris Hardwick is a plus.
I had the opposite reaction. I can't get into it and I was thinking it needed someone like Hardwick.

Alfie Allen. He has done a great job. I think in some ways, it's easier to play roles like that (maybe not physically, but in other ways) where there are such dramatic events and changes the character has to deal with rather than subtle low key characters. I think his best work is in the scenes where he's getting damaged/conflicted psychologically, he really has done a great job expressing how tortured he is/has been without going over the top.
Little known fact, his inspiration for the part comes from the portrayal of him in the video for the song about him

My three favorite things from last episode:

The fight with Ned and Co vs Ser Dayne and friend was very well done. It really had a feel of authenticity that is lost so much in todays normal fighting scenes. The guy playing Ser Dayne was dang good (had to, sorry).

I love the look Missandei gave Tyrion after he quoted himself.

And of course the mike drop of "my watch has ended"

I will also say that I don't know if it has been brought up before but the actor that plays Samwell, I think he brings tons of game to each scene. I think he is a very fine actor. Upper echelon of actors/actresses in the show and that is saying alot as there are a number of good ones here.

I love the high sparrow. Go in wanting to rip his throat out, leave like you just sat down with Dr Phil.
This show does such a great job at developing 'villains' that we love to hate. Joffrey, Ramsey, High Sparrow...

Why do we hate the High Sparrow?

Joffrey I understand, Ramsey is easy to see, but what has the High Sparrow done to any of our "heroes" to deserve our hatred.  Maybe locking Margaery and Loras up, but lets not forget that Margaery is probably as much of a gold digger/conniver as Cersei

Those guys have been doing this via podcast for Bill Simmons' network for a while and had a solid following, and they still podcast about other TV/pop culture stuff, but this is a step up for them. They seem kinda awkward and tentative so far but the podcast was great so I bet this will improve a lot too. Gotta figure out what internet shtick works on TV for a bigger audience and what doesn't, and learn not to look like you're about to piss yourself on camera.  Same thing happened when the internet-famous nerds from my favorite podcast on the NBA got their own TV show.

I guess what makes the Sparrow and his crew so easy to hate is every character's inability to stand up to them, especially the king. This guy's head would be on a pike right now under Joffery's rule. I kind of miss Joffery's ruthlessness.

Because deep down everyone dislikes religious fanatics as soon as they stop suiting your needs, which doesn't take long.

The whole right side hasn't been mentioned.   Look at the far left fifth and near the middle where Slaver's Bay is.  That's where the story takes place.

Joffery was a wimp except when it came to those he could push around.

Tywin on the other hand would have been a formidable foe for the High Sparrow. I doubt any of this would be going on if he was still alive and I don't think it's a coincidence it all began once he was killed. I'm guessing the High Sparrow saw Tywin's death as the perfect opportunity to stake his claim to power. He knew the true power in the throne had gone.

I am not saying I like him - but he is going to take down Cersei, and already made her walk nekid.  Enemy of my enemy kind of thing...
