Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (14 Viewers)

I still don't get what's so bad about being called Kingslayer. It's factually correct and it's kind of badass. I think I'd be like, "Damn straight. If you don't like it, you can be next, and then they can call me GoatF##kerSlayer, too."

Because its tantamount to being called traitor.

My favorite part is how its "fun" to bully the guys that get castrated during torture.

Always lively at parties.

I can see this happening in the show:
Arya and the Waif do battle, and after fighting valiantly, Arya is killed. We are all stunned for a few moments (maybe even 30+ minutes if they decide to show other scenes elsewhere).

The Waif goes to Jaqen and announces that Arya Stark is dead. The waif removes her face to reveal that it was Arya all along, and Jaqen asks who a girl is.

A girl replies "No one." - Credits.

Also, this will probably happen in the episode "No One" instead of the upcoming episode.

ugh makes too much sense

How do these people know who each other are if they've either never seen them before or haven't seen for many years.

Come on man.

So that is the end of Arya's arc?  To be a faceless assassin?  How does that tie into the rest of the world?  Arya spends the rest of the show doing missions and assassinating pivotal characters?

Its probably pretty badass unless the slayer is a member of the kingsguard at the time of the slaying, wearing the gold armor and all.

Well, Jamie was going to die, along with the King himself, anyhow if he DIDN'T do it, along with a #### ton of innocent people.  The Mad King was going to blow up the entire city.

Sure, but I don't think any of that would matter to a kingsguard knight like Barristan Selmy or Arthur Dayne. I think that's the point of being a kingsguard. I agree its an easy decision though for the kind of knight who would shove a kid out a window without a moment's thought.

This has a chance of being dumb in a big hurry, but whatever was going on, at least Arya should be getting out of there soon.

She was the waif during the whole training?  Did they swap faces? Wtf would they do that? She was secretly a fully trained assassin the whole time?, etc, etc..

no there was no waif

Really slow episode, tempted to watch the remaining 3 now just to get it over with.  I downloaded them but haven't decided if I'm gonna watch them or not.

Here's a better one. The waif, thinking she killed Arya, goes to Jaqen to tell him. They talk but Jaqen then kills the waif and in her dying moments, Jaqen reveals that he is Arya. Then, as the camera pans over, we see the real Jaqen dead as Arya killed him too. Then, Arya turns from the camera and turns back with a different face. Maesie Williams no longer plays Arya as she has been recast. Who now plays Arya? None other than the waif.

Woah!

She's been training to kill people since Jon gave her a sword.   Between her time with Syrio Forel, the Hound and the Faceless Men she's more trained to be an assassin/killer than just about everyone but Bronn.

No I get that, I was asking, if that's the case, how does her story arc end then?  They've spent a lot of screen time then on a character who would ultimately have no impact on the greater story.  If she becomes a faceless assassin is she then going to end up being the person who is chosen to carry out an order and kill, say Cersei?

The problem with the Arya/Waif split personality theory is that they've shown the Waif on screen at times without Arya and talking to someone that knew her.

In Fight Club...

I don't think Brad Pitt was ever on screen alone with someone else.  Ed Norton was always there.  Jaqen has addressed the Waif in conversation when the two of them were alone, talking about Arya as a separate person.

The only twist that really works is if Waif was a real person that Arya killed recently, knowing that she was going to bolt and need a cover story that Waif had killed her.  Doesn't seem likely that she planned that ahead though given that she changed her mind to not kill the actress and run on the spot, and it also seems out of character for her to kill the Waif just because she was kind of a d### as a trainer.

Btw, not that I personally care (never saw fight club never will), but some common decency would suggest not throwing out some major spoiler of any popular movie without a tag. Had I ever get an inkling to actually watch fight club that desires definitely gone now.

theres got to be a statute of limitations with this request. Twists like this are common knowledge in everyday life... Darth Vader is Luke's father, Keyser Soze, Fight Club, I see dead people... are we supposed to always use spoiler tags for old movies?

killing a contender to the throne is having an impact on the greater story.

Fair enough on the statute of limitations I suppose.

even so, what little chance I had of watching the movie definitely ended here. Not that I much care to be honest.

More importantly, God I'm getting ####### old.

this is very strange to me. the old part, for sure... but not wanting to see Fight Club? I don't get it.

I know... I get that.... I'm asking, is that what you think Arya's story is going to end? She becomes a faceless assassin and then is  hired to kill someone that is a major character?  Just seems like a lot of screen time invested if that's the eventual outcome, I just don't see it.

They havent really handled Arya's screen time all that well.  She's either going to go back to Westeros as Arya and continue her list which makes the whole Braavos part of the storyline pointless because she didnt get much real training, or she's not going to go back to her list which would be lame.  The former is looking more likely at this point.  If she's going back to Westeros anytime soon to kill people like Cersei whose guarded by the Mountain, she doesnt seem anywhere near ready.

The only way they can save the Bravosi line is to have Syrio scoop her up off the street, heal her, and then give us a montage of her continuing her training over several months and the next time we see her is next season.

Yeah I love the show but I do think they kind of screwed up the whole Arya storyline. Like Scoresman said above, the outcome will disappoint regardless.

kind of agree. but she'll end up impossibly killing somebody that needs to be killed- using her faceless/nameless powers.... and that could be good. still have hope they'll play it out well.

all of Arya's screen time has been her training to become a fighter.  her story begins with Jon giving her Needle.  she watches her only friend get killed.  she trains with a master swordsman. then she watches him get killed.  then she watches her father get killed. then she travels with an old-school man in black who teaches her about survival.  then she travels with Hound, who teaches her about being ruthless.  then she trains as an assassin.  all of her screen time is invested in her development in that storyline.   how should her story end?   Gendry becomes king and marries her and she lives happily ever after?

For me the most annoying thing is that Jon Snow and everyone at the wall is not screaming at the top of their lungs about the White Walkers.

Sending ravens, collecting evidence, doing SOMETHING to convince the whole world what is coming.

Theg didn't even mention it in their second meeting. In the first, they only bring it up AFTER getting rejected.

They would expect that people won't believe them. But to not try makes zero sense. Young Mormont believed immediately, which was probably required to move the plot along.

But after using that to convince her, not bringing it up as the first point with the next house is dumb.
