Nothing fooks you harder than time. The final book in the series was supposed to be "A Dream of Spring" - it looks like we will get that entire book in the final 2 episodes...

This group of writers really likes to do the call back... I can see them ending it with a similar scene to how it started....up north, white walkers, finI think the last scene will be - a person or small group of people discussing overthrowing the new king/queen.
I wanted it to be varys n littlefinger slinking off to plot....but they both die and the realm is better for itI think the last scene will be - a person or small group of people discussing overthrowing the new king/queen.

Really? You honestly think that the writing is as good now as it was in the first 3-4 seasons? That's actually a thing? And the unbelievable level of scrutiny is mind-boggling, acting like show was so much better before off GRRMs script. Uh. No. You could nitpick all the old seasons as well. Why would Olenna put the poison in Sansa's necklace? So many better options to ensure Joff drinks it! Stannis sailed ALL his boats into one harbor?! Endless examples could be given..... Why would Ned tell Cersei he's going to rat her out?! He'd tell his best friend first! People make mistakes. Hindsight is 20/20. Real life commanders didn't have perfect battle strategies either.
Boom! Euron works if Sansa sent a raven to Cersei telling her of Dany/Jons travel plans.Really? You honestly think that the writing is as good now as it was in the first 3-4 seasons? That's actually a thing?
Olenna didn't want anyone to finger her for the poisoning. So, why carry the poison on her in case she was searched? Pretty smart thinking, especially since they showed her sucking up to Sansa earlier(OMG foreshadowing?) to get her to wear the necklace.
Stannis didn't sail all of his boats into the harbor. If he had, he wouldn't have escaped. But, he was attacking a fortified position(the walls of King's Landing). If he didn't bring most of his army there, he'd have had no chance. As it was, he still would've won the day if Tywin and the Tyrells hadn't showed up at the right time(this is called a believable plot twist). No idea how anyone can nitpick this.
The show literally spent 7 episodes previous to that one explaining how Ned was honorable to a fault. They also spent those 7 episodes showing that Robert was rash and quick to anger. Ned telling Cersei to run before telling Robert is probably one of the most believable scenes in this whole story and they spent a good part of a season setting it up.... also called GOOD WRITING. No idea how anyone can think that BOOM! Euron! is as good of writing as the early seasons, but to each their own I guess.
Who is crazy enough to do that?Commentary expected during every episode
Last scene will be Jon in the north or heading north...likely reuniting with GhostThis group of writers really likes to do the call back... I can see them ending it with a similar scene to how it started....up north, white walkers, fin
He couldn't be bothered to pet the damn wolf last episode.Last scene will be Jon in the north or heading north...likely reuniting with Ghost
That was on purpose...it was a set up for the payoff off them ending the series together. He couldn't be bothered to pet the damn wolf last episode.
Sure, you might be able to nitpick a couple things from the first 4 seasons. I think a big takeaway is that people were enjoying it a bit more as a whole, so they didn't nitpick as much. I fully admit to that being the case for me.Lots of complaining without thinking.

That would be amazing - end the show with a boy and his wolf they haven't bothered to have with him for how long now? That was on purpose...it was a set up for the payoff off them ending the series together.
Well, he was stabbed in the heartHe couldn't be bothered to pet the damn wolf last episode.
Sansa betrayal would be sweetBoom! Euron works if Sansa sent a raven to Cersei telling her of Dany/Jons travel plans.
I guarantee you if the fat man ever finishes the books....the cersei meeting season 7 and losing a dragon to the dead occurs.....how else does the wall come down?? Some horn?Sure, you might be able to nitpick a couple things from the first 4 seasons. I think a big takeaway is that people were enjoying it a bit more as a whole, so they didn't nitpick as much. That said, nothing in the first 4 seasons was a bad as the epic dumbness that was the zombie kidnapping plot last season. Combining that with characters doing the same dumb things again this season that we have seen not work - Dany getting ambushed, meeting with Cersei, etc.. and I really don't know how people can say with a straight face that the writing has stayed at the same level of quality through all the seasons.
If the books are ever finished, Cersei will have lost King's Landing (and the Throne) to a combination of the Faith Militant and/or Young Gryff by early-middle Book 6.I guarantee you if the fat man ever finishes the books....the cersei meeting season 7 and losing a dragon to the dead occurs.....how else does the wall come down?? Prepare for it.That would be amazing - end the show with a boy and his wolf they haven't bothered to have with him for how long now?
Then prepare for some pissing and moaning, because that would be dumb to have that the last thing we see for the series.Prepare for it.
Or Jon dies in Kings Landing like Ned.
Geez young griff....talk about a lame storylineIf the books are ever finished, Cersei will have lost King's Landing (and the Throne) to a combination of the Faith Militant and/or Young Gryff by early-middle Book 6.
There’s been nothing but pissing and moaning since the show passed the books. Doesn’t matter what the ending is.Then prepare for some pissing and moaning, because that would be dumb to have that the last thing we see for the series.![]()

He’s the Han Solo of GOT.We've seen euron kill the greyjoy guy, we've seen him argue to be made king, get dunked underwater and say he wants to murder his remaining family, he was able to get an island of boat building people to build much better boats than they've ever built before, he's got unlimited information, knowing that cersei wanted the sand snakes alive to torture them, knowing where they would be so he could destroy the previous best ships from the iron islands, knowing where to hide from the dragons that was on their route but not visible from the air, and we have seen him act like a water taxi, cut his crew mates tongues out with his only explanation being that someone lost a card game, he asked jamie if cersei liked a finger in her bum, pretended to be scared of zombies, and we saw him successfully beg for sex. I'd say we've seen a lot of euron. Too much even.
You could very well be right. I also argue that the dialogue and character motivations have fallen off post-grrm material as well, so even if that was part of the outline he gave the showrunners it would come off better.I guarantee you if the fat man ever finishes the books....the cersei meeting season 7 and losing a dragon to the dead occurs.....how else does the wall come down?? Bran watching Sansa's wedding on a loopSo if every "good guy" got their happy ending what would that be?
Yara kills Euron and rules the iron islands.
Hound kills Mountain and eats more chickens.
Arya kills Cersei
John goes back to live at the wall and whine a lot.
Tyrion dies drunk in a brothel
Sansa rules the north
Dany gets the throne? I honestly don't care about the throne.
The greatest TV we will ever have in our lifetime, man.Finished my re-watch of previous seasons this last weekend, and caught up on the new episodes.Skimmed a little bit of the thread (which advanced like 70 pages in the meantime). I was really surprised how much love there was for episode 3.
Well yeah.....but here we are......You could very well be right. I also argue that the dialogue and character motivations have fallen off post-grrm material as well, so even if that was part of the outline he gave the showrunners it would come off better.

Psssssh, they only lost half their forces, these were genius-level tactics.GregR said:A friend pointed me to this on youtube after I watched it. Probably posted by now I'm guessing? Warning, NSFW language from the opening click: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI7zy1PTMp0&feature=youtu.be
I've seen his stuff before which is funny but usually has a lot of filler not worth #####ing about. Very little to no filler on this one.
My favorite moment I now refer to as the moment Khaleesi died (NSFW language still): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI7zy1PTMp0&feature=youtu.be&t=1289
Again and again they show someone in hopeless situations only to cut away and when you come back they are fine. Who needs a sword when you have cutaways to defend you?
Jon surrounded by many dozens of zombies. Only to have all of those behind or to the sides of him teleport away between camera shots, then reappear another 20 yards back next camera shot so they can be safely burnt by dragonfire without it hitting him too (NSFW language again). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI7zy1PTMp0&feature=youtu.be&t=1110
Worst episode of the entire series. Utterly idiotic, unsupported cavalry charge. Stupidly having all of your siege weapons in the front line of the battle. Squandering the Unsullied standing in ranks in front of the defenses instead of behind them. Not even trying to retreat any of the Unsullied. Just... gah.
Yea, much more of this and I'm checking outUgh take that #### elsewhere
Given the enormity of the army they were going against and the fact that they were already dead to begin with, only losing half your troops that started the battle down 3-1 is actually pretty solid. Especially given the piss poor tactics involved. Figure you lose two major armies int he first half hour of battle, finishing with half your men is pretty good.Psssssh, they only lost half their forces, these were genius-level tactics.
