Game Thread - Divisionals - New England V Denver (1 Viewer)

The Pat's D gave them every chance to win the game, and the offense and special teams couldn't convert. Credit the Denver D for rattling Brady early and making him miss wide open receivers that would have went for TDs. The special teams turnovers were pretty awful and clinched the game. I'm proud of the Pat's D, though. Aside from some late big gains, they dominated the Broncos offense. Good game, guys. I have to say I hate Denver, being a huge Packer and Patriot fan, but hats off.GG

I was actually going to root for the Pats to win seeing as I feel they have a better chance of beatingthe Colts. After seeing all of the whiny tools in here..... I'm glad they lost. Lose graciously people.
 Fans from the Boston area are generally very classy and gracious.
Well being a Bronco fan. I still think the Patriots had one heck of a run in the NFL.

Back to Back titles is very hard to do and they have gone down fighting like the true Champs they are.

Just sometimes it is Hard to see it end.
I don't think their run is that close to an end. They were decimated by injuries, and I am pretty sure their cap space is still good. As long as that D stays intact, and Brady is qbing that offense, they will be solid.
All I heard all week was why the Pats would win this game because all their key players are healthy now.Decimated by injury does not apply to this game.
:goodposting:
Oh, agreed. But the ball took some funny rolls tonight.

It happens.

Pats have gotten some nice breaks in their run and they didn't get a single one tonight.

They'll be a dangerous team next season.

Brady finally going to lose a playoff game?

He should have just tanked the end of the season so he could have kept his playoff streak in-tact.
You are such a joke. I cant believe you are on staff here.
Let it all out, I'm here for you.
Do you not even see the petty little person that you are.You dont even have a horse in this race. Your jealousy of Pats fans is just so sickening.
Where's your horse? :bye:

I dont think anyone is using injury as an excuse for this game. I just think that the previous poster is saying that the Pats arent going to revert to a 6 win team. The Pats will contend for the title again next year (although they made a nice run this year I wouldnt even call this year contending for the title. You really need to make the conference championship to be considered contending for the title.

here's your gift game you'll be losing by 20 next week in INDY. Like scheduled!!!

You still suck.

2 TD's from turnovers and a phantom Pass Interference.

We out gained you nearly 3 to 1

Give me a break. We gave you a chance but the way your O played tonight you might not be able to be WASH LOL

You won but if you think that performance will win a SB. LOL

Sorry, I must be too. Because during all the marginal calls and balls bounces that DIDN'T go the Pats way, I kept shouting "How's it feel to NOT be at home!!". Every year the Colts had/have to go to Foxboro, and every year there are 5 or 6 game changing calls/no-calls or just simple ball bounces that go the Pats way. Karma's a beyotch, and it all balances out. Tonight "it" finally came around.

My prediction:

MVP of the game: Jake Plummer

The Broncos have early success running the ball, and NE has to leave their subpar corners out on an island. Lelie beats them for a couple of deep passes, and Smith comes through with timely third down catches.

Patriots are able to stay with them most of the game, but Brady throws a late INT to end it.

Broncos 27, Patriots 20.
I was wrong with everything except the Broncos scoring 27 and Brady's INT to end it. I'll survive.

My problem with him is that he has missed 2 open TDs tonight. That's simply HUGE. If he hit even one of them NE most likely wouldn't be in this kind of hole. Oh and he missed them BADLY. Look I am as a big of a Brady fan as you can find. UofM days and I would love nothing more than them to win, but he has to stop missing WRs in scoring situations. I know I know two great throws and a TD....let's see if he has anymore magic left.
This will get ignored, but when you combine those 2 TDs with the 2-TD swing his Champ Bailey pass provided, and Brady's got a lot of reasons to feel upset with how he played.
The Broncos were very aggressive on D. That aggression isn't just about sacks - they stop the quarterback from hitting receivers who appear to be open, and force interceptions. Brady threw a pick, and missed a couple passes. Those turned out to be costly. But he also hit a lot of plays he wouldn't have if they hadn't put that pressure on, like the 73 yard pass to Branch. Bottom line, Brady is not having a great game despite his gaudy statistics (341 yards and counting), nor is he having a terrible game despite passes he missed.

Here's hoping they pull out a miracle, but if they don't, I'll go back to what I said earlier - despite the 40 points scored so far, this has been a great defensive game.
The Broncos deserve the credit here. The D played very well tonight, rattled Brady kept pressure in his face all night long. The special teams picked up the TOs. Congrats to the Broncos...here's hoping they beat Indy/Pitt.
Good D can make QBs look bad. You can't say that Plummer beat the Pats tonight. Except for the fact that he wasn't a factor when many said he'd choke. The Pats weren't perfect tonight by a long shot, and a lot of that goes to the play of the Denver D.There were a couple calls by the refs that I thought flat out blew chunks, but that wasn't the difference in the game.

If I'm a Denver fan though, I've got to be hoping my team can scrape up a little more offense outside of turnovers, though. The Pats were very successful at quieting the rushing game tonight. It's only going to get harder for them from here on out.

Congrats, Denver.

ok so the skins lost...w/e but the broncos destroyed the patriots...in all aspects of the game....pats fans can cry here, and broncos fans can rejoice here

I agree 100% with you. For a team over the past couple of years to have so many injuries and still be so dominant says so much about the organization and its players.

QUOTE(Spearchucker Jones @ Jan 14 2006, 08:26 PM)

Unreal interception, by a sweet WHITE DB. John Lynch

Nice insight there, Spearchucker.
Hey I do what I can. You have to admit there are not many "Larry Birds" in sport today.
Yeah we all know the NFL needs 6' 9" guys who are slow and can't jump.

I don't care what team it was. I'm almost glad it was Brown, Brady, and Vinatieri that goofed though

:goodposting: Its about time all the rubes from NE come out and take their lumps

1. Brady is not god

2. Belicheck is not god

3. The PATS aren't the second coming

All that BS Brady was throwing around about getting no respect - HA - what respect do you deserve

You just got shlacked.

Enjoy the off-season.

Brady gets a great deal of the credit for the Patriots 10-0 record in the playoffs, deservedly so. It is always said that BRADY is 10-0. So he gets a lot of credit for the loss here. He was not TERRIBLE but he did not have a good night. He certainly did not have the night that many Patriots fans expected out of him. He has not been able to finish drives.

Obviously the fumbling has hurt as well. I dont even consider the refs an issue at this stage.

My horse is walking off the field like the proud champions that they are. They just got whipped in the divisional round by a good team. Unlike your team that is still wondering who their next coach will be.

Broncos clearly didn't bring their A game on offense (more like their C or D game), but the special teams and defense played very well. The special teams won the game for Denver, but I don't think that will take them too far.

As a degenerate gambler, I'll have a short grin at the money I laid down on the Broncos tonight -3. STILL an easy bet, even as a Pats fan. However, if the Pats open up the 2006 season as anything less than a 10-1 to win it all next year, you'd all be well advised to drop down some cash.

BTW, on Nick Harper.......my friend is a fire/emergency (step down from EMT) guy, anyway, he was on the call. Harper was stabbed through the back of the leg, splitting open the major artery in his leg...aka, he's done for the year. Ouch! Look for Wilson to have a bit bigger day tomorrow (and if the Colts move on, I'm thinking Shanny would do well to gameplan in Adams).

:own3d:

I didn't pick them to trample the Patriots, but I did pick the Broncos to win and cover. :)
finally a place we can celebrate and not be blasted for thoughts of beating the Patriots.....unbelievable, some of the brightest minds on this board that I lost respect for after not even considering the possibility that Denver could win......what a victory........again, Pats have been great Champs and with Brady's age, they'll be back.......but solid game all around.

Because I'd really hate to have to listen to the Colts fans go on for months about Peyton beating the Pats. :yucky: While I was hopeful, I didn't feel this would be the Pats' year. Plus, I think that the Colts have been plotting for a year to get homefield advantage to get by the Pats and then they'll be blindsided by the team who does beat them this year. :evil laugh:Alright, I'm no Manning fan. I admit it. ;)

You think the defense played well? Really?I think other than one Champ Bailey play they were pretty mediocre tonight.

Yeah that NEVER happened to the Patriots before. They've won every SB dating back to when the game was played with a human head in Aztec times according to the media.

The Broncos won in one big category (other than the 27-13 score)- turnovers. The Pats had two big fumbles and one big interception (a late INT was meaningless). The Broncos had only one turnover.Other than turnovers, I think the Patriots played better, especially in the second half. But, turnovers are killers.

Proud champions walk off the field after outscoring their opponents. Proud champions don't get whipped. Yes, my team is still wondering who their next coach will be. I hope that can help soothe your pain this evening. GL!

:lmao: Hey, they still have Tom Brady. And quite frankly, that's all you need.

No guys. jgb is right. Denver has decided to forfeit its win tonite because it didn't deserve to win, and there is no way they will beat Indy or win the superbowl playing like they did. Oh well...was still an entertaining game, but the Broncos are definately doing the right thing by refusing to accept this win. The better team obviously didn't win tonite. Good luck next weekend Pats. Denver, was a great season...sorry you had to go out with a win like that.

Trust me on this one, I didn't stop sweating over this game until the clock said 00:00. Some brief thoughts....-Jake Plummer played pretty well considering Denver didn't run the ball well at all until late. -Tom Brady was clearly rattled by the pressure and made some mistakes he normally doesn't. -The Broncos are going to the AFC title game!

NE scored 10 points and the Broncos D basically scored 7. They got to Brady and the running game didn't do much. The D played well.

When was the last time the Jets had:(a) Outscored someone

(b) NOT been whipped

:lmao:

...and you don't give the Colts the satisfaction of overcoming your team.
The Colts don't give a crap about who they beat to make it to the Super Bowl, lol.

I understand that I'm fairly new here, so maybe I'm getting the wrong impression, but are you always a ##### like this? Is that standard behavior for staff members?
