Game Thread W1 - Philadelphia V Houston (1 Viewer)

So did Lundy and Morency look as bad as their numbers?

Was at the game and there's some encouraging improvement, the Texans looked better today than last year but they still have a long way to go. Carr looked better than last year, progressed thru his reads and kept his composure until late in the game. The defense was improved but won't be setting the world on fire anytime soon. The secondary is still very bad and the line wasn't much better. I watched Mario as much as possible and he looked like a rookie. He had some flashes, but was mostly quiet. They were definitely moving him around on the line a lot. Demeco Ryans is a hoss, he was all over the place.

The offensive line was TERRIBLE. Worse than last year! They couldn't run block at all, there were NO holes for Lundy or Morency to run through. Someone mentioned it being Carr's fault for those sacks. NO WAY. Guy had no time at all.

The team looked solid in the 1st quarter, but the Eagles shoke the rust off and took over the game in the 2nd.

:thumbup:Solid first win, the defensive pressure was excellent although I can't be sure that was anything more than a byproduct of the Texans being awful. Really incredible to see Correll Buckhalter healthy and contributing. Westbrook looked solid and it didn't take a genius to see that Donte Stallworth brings something to the team no other Birds receiver can. LJ Smith looks a lot more consistent and focused this year, too. All in all I'm pleased but look (nervously) forward to next week's home opener versus New York; the true litmus test.
I'll take it - Basically your textbook Andy Reid Eagles win, spreading the ball around like crazy, pass rush took some time to get going but it got there. I love how they are going to be able to rotate the line and not really lose a step in talent. I was really surprised to see how much McNabb keyed on Stallworth right off the bat in the first game, I sat him for Kennison and it cost me a W. Regardless the offense is going to click this year as long as this oline protects and I think it will, what scares me to death is how they are going to react to the obligatory Westbrook injury, Moats didnt even see action today over Buck and that has me a bit concerned. As much as it was good to see Buck get some tough yards I dont think I will ever feel comfortable with him running the ball.Real big test next week against the Giants, they MUST get pressure on Manning becasue he can be rattled. Tiki scares me to death in this game, as the Colts had no answer for him tonight. The Eagles cant count on the Giants playing as sloppy as they did tonight and if you watched the game you know what Im talking about.

It's too bad that Westbrook just won't stay healthy for an entire season or Phily could be a scary team. Then again, playing against possibly the worst team in the league, they didn't really impress me to be honest. Long season though.
couldn't resist...
