Game Thread W17 - Detroit V Green Bay (1 Viewer)

Matt Stafford with 5034 yards and 41 TD's at the age of 23

Calvin Johnson with 96 receptions 1681 yards, 16 TD's

Lions finish 10-6 and make the playoffs for the first time in 12 years.

Congrats on an unforgettable year!

I gotta be honest, I did not think that the Pack would win today. Missing all those guys, nothing to play for.....

Nice way to go into the playoffs!

The blown TD call was huge but plain and simple Detroit is not as good as the Packers...yet. The talent is there and getting better. A healthy Javid Best and LaShoure next year will help. Kevin Smith is here to stay.

From 0-16 to 10-6 in three years is an amazing turnaround. Still need a couple of pieces though.

The bottom line is that I could not be happier as a lifelong Lion fan. We finally have a good young team to build around.

No championship belt , move by Suh at the end of the game?

He is such a tool if your goong to show up the best teamm and the best qb in the game, may i suggest you win the dam game first

Lions are not going to do well vs the Saints.
I don't think the Lions or the Packers are going to be able to beat the Saints in the playoffs.
I'm not sure the packers will either but that SF match-up is gonna take a lot out of them. Packers are gonna get the Giants/Cowboys or Falcons, they won't have a very tough game. Lions still need a lot of work in their back seven but it was a successful year. Would have been nice to have a shot at winning a playoff game though.

Calvin passed Wes to lead the league. But Gronkowski caught two TDs to lead the league over calvin.

Stafford....over 5,000, 41 Tds....no Pro-Bowl????? I am guessing first time a QB over 5,000 or over 40 did not make it.

congrats to the lions for a great year and two tough games this year i hope you do ok in the playoffs until and unless youplay the pack take it to the bank!

I dont see how any lion fan could hang their head low after this. It's apparent they have youngs studs at the most important positions in the game (aside of LOT) and a little more seasoning and a few pieces added to the back 7 of that defense and your looking at a contender for years imo.

Before 2011, the gold standard was 4000 yards and 35 TDs (every QB who ever hit those numbers made the Pro Bowl).Stafford crushed those benchmarks and yet he's only the 2nd alternate. :loco:

Agree. Truth is, all five NFC QBs (Brees, Rodgers, Manning, Cam and Stafford) are ALL VERY deserving. Suffice to say the league has never seen such prolific numbers in the history of the NFL.

I think that makes players now 0-4 against Green Bay when doing the belt.

Word coming out of New Orleans is that they are now going to rest their starters against the Lions next week as well. :)

Best will never have a complete season, next year will probably be his last after he suffers yet another concussion.I am interested to see what LeShoure can do once he recovers.

With LaShoure and Kevin Smith back Best will be what he should have been from day 1, a third down back. What bothers me the most is that the Lions would have had a 50-50 chance against the Giants.

A CHAMPIONSHIP team in the making. It is amazing the season they are having given that many of their top picks are not doing squat. Best is hurt again, LaShoure never played a game, Fairley is looking like a bust. If the Lions had drafted the top DB on the board instead of Fairley the team would be much improved. The DL was already strong.

Fairly has been injured since preseason and all year. The one game he was healthy to some extent he dominated against NO. it's way too premature to call him a bust. Prince was the guy they passed up and go look back at how that's turned out...

Alright, I'll agree. Best of luck to you guys in the playoffs. After years of laughter, it's good to see you have something to cheer about. (Rightfully so)

They lost to their division rivals who were playing their second stringers. There are plenty of reasons for lion fans to hang their heads.
