Game Thread W3 - New England V Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

It looked like his left arm/shoulder. I think he'll be back.

He was helped up with his right arm so I doub that was it.
landed hard on his left elbow. Probably a stinger. His was kind of shaking his left hand whic could be a sign of numbness, which sometimes is caused by a stinger. Hopefully not a shoulder dislocation.

Two straight passes over the middle to Faulk. First down. Brady throws a near pick to Taylor on the sideline trying to throw to Givens, but Givens pops him as he bobbles it and its second and ten. Brady goes right back to Givens on the sideline.

Both teams have dropped 1 INT now. The one where Antwaan stopped short was one and now this one in this two-minte drive.

Brady getting plenty of time now. It looks like the Steelers are going to drop more men back in coverage. Brady to Branch for 14 on third down, first down at the 26. Pats want to go into the locker room ahead.

Seems like Dillon isn't seeing the field. Does anyone know if he is hurt, and if so, how hurt he is??? Or is he being benched because of ineffectiveness??

LT Matt Light is out so hey, let's throw some screens because the Steelers are likely to get blitz happy. Ding.

Have to say when the Pats don't look impressive and they look like they are going to be up at halftime, you can't ask for more. If PIT looses this game, heads better roll.

It's inside two minutes. Dillon had the first play of the drive, and has looked OK. I wouldn't say he's been ineffective at all; he looked good except for the first couple plays after Light went down. Faulk is getting some plays, though, as the Pats are trying to take advantage of the Steelers' aggressiveness. He just had a nice screen pass for 20+ yards along the sidelines.

Brady pass tipped up in the air, intercepted by Steelers. Pats are 0-2 in the red zone, on a fumble and an interception.

I'm curious why people say the Patriots don't look impressive, but the Steelers do. Is it the score? The Steelers haven't had a single sustained drive, and have blown some big chances, just like the Pats. Without a couple huge turnovers and a missed field goal, this game should be 21-20 Patriots right now.

Never said Steelers has looked impressive, have I? They are at home and favored though. This game reminds me of the slew of games where PIT 'should have' beaten TEN but couldn't put them away only to get beat in the end. We shall see, still think NE will open it up and take care of business in the 3rd quarter.

I don't either, as a Steeler fan I can say that NE has looked like the better team thus far. Pitt had several breaks that 1st half and should by all means have this game close to being put away by now. I hope it continues that way, but the Steelers have let NE "hang around" in this game.

I look at it the other way. I think the Patriots are outplaying the Steelers badly right now, but have given up some enormous plays:Ward 85 yard catch

Faulk fumble on a drive where the Pats looked unstoppable

Brady pass tipped in the air

Randel El 49 yard catch (which he fumbled)

Look at the rest of the game - Parker's got ten rushes for 36 yards, Roethlisberger is 2 for 8, the Pats have almost 200 yards of offense in the first half.

The Steelers are fortunate that this game is being played in bizzarro world - the Steelers are living off big plays, while the Pats are making huge, costly mistakes.

Ummm, didn't I just say that Pitt was getting the breaks... the same as you just did.

Yeah, on second read, it looks like I misunderstood you. I read the "let NE hang around" bit and was responding to that. It's probably homerism, but I think the story of the game is that the Pats have let the Steelers not only "hang around", but get ahead.

What a catch by David Givens, double covered over the middle. Pats are in max protect, but got great blocking on that play. Then they give up an 8 yard sack on a play where they were called for holding. The Steelers need to blitz again to take advantage, but nope, they rush four and Brady hits Branch for a big gain to set up a short third down.

Brady forced to call a time out on third and four, audibling and trying to set up coverage. He yells at Ben Watson on the field. Watson really is more of a big receiver than a TE; I really hope he can develop his blocking.

Patriots are turning into the East Coast version of the Raiders. They are getting penalties left and right. So if anyone thinks the Pats have the refs in their pocket, you can ####.

Brady looks to Troy Brown on third down, trying to thread the needle. Polomalu with a nice play to break it up. Vinatieri for a 53 yarder to break the Heinz field record, but misses just left.

The team that looses CAN'T blame the refs here, only themselves.

At least the crowd is out of the game. That has been our greatest strength the past 4 years. To bore the fans to death and get them out of the game.

Parker just has such strong legs. He just moved the pile three yards on second and six to set up a manageable third. He's for real.

Randel El drops a pass that hit him in the hands and bounced off his chest. Good defense by the D back, but that's just poor. He's going to have a bad week in film session.

His head isn't in the game. If I'm Cowher, I stick Ced Wilson in there just to send a message.

Givens another nice catch over the middle. Branch and Givens each have 4 catches for 48 yards at this point; without looking, I think Givens has actually been targetted more at this point. Brady's mostly thrown to Branch, Givens, Brown and Faulk. Big sack on a blitz by the Steelers.
