This is true.I hate the college overtime system, too, and it would ruin fantasy football if the NFL adopted it.I would just like to state that I hate Sudden Death OT.It's terrible.
OK, but it still wasn't a penalty.Wash? Wish? Either way, I don't care. I am not a Bronco or a Patriot fan.You misspelled "I wash there was a"Should be a flag there.
I disagree, even before their legs were tangled, the CB was getting handsy.OK, but it still wasn't a penalty.Wash? Wish? Either way, I don't care. I am not a Bronco or a Patriot fan.You misspelled "I wash there was a"Should be a flag there.
Nah, you would just have "Regulation Time Stats Only" leagues. This is true.I hate the college overtime system, too, and it would ruin fantasy football if the NFL adopted it.I would just like to state that I hate Sudden Death OT.It's terrible.
It would be easy enough to not count OT stats in fantasy.I hate the college overtime system, too, and it would ruin fantasy football if the NFL adopted it.I would just like to state that I hate Sudden Death OT.It's terrible.
It's supposed to be a safe play. It was just an awful throw. Put it high and outside where either the WR or no one catches it.I can't believe that pass to the end zone there. You *CAN NOT* risk an INT here. And Orton very nearly did.
Big fan of the first to 4 points wins OT.Wow McDaniels is going nuts. 5-0 will do that to you.I hate the college overtime system, too, and it would ruin fantasy football if the NFL adopted it.I would just like to state that I hate Sudden Death OT.It's terrible.
Marshall was playing the ball, just like the CB. No OPI, just a quality pass breakup on BMarsh.Should've been offensive PI there. Horrible throw by Orton to put it right in position to be intercepted. That's supposed to be a safe throw.
Even still, it completely eliminates special teams, which are kind of sort of a big part of actual football. I like the "first to four" OT system. It would be easy enough to not count OT stats in fantasy.
It's a safe play when your QB isn't Kyle Orton. I don't know if he CAN put it high and outside there.Of course, I don't really care what the process is when the result is a W.It's supposed to be a safe play. It was just an awful throw. Put it high and outside where either the WR or no one catches it.I can't believe that pass to the end zone there. You *CAN NOT* risk an INT here. And Orton very nearly did.
Completely agree. I think the highlight of the end of the season for me is going to be all the crow I have to swallow. How can you not love McDaniels? I'm a Charger fan and I love the guy. Gonna be fun going back through some offseason Bronco threads and seeing some Bronco homers swallow some crow.
I'd been saying all along that the Broncos improved this offseason. Sometimes I really hate being right. How can you not love McDaniels? I'm a Charger fan and I love the guy. Gonna be fun going back through some offseason Bronco threads and seeing some Bronco homers swallow some crow.
Unlike a lot of people on this forum, and on the internet in general, I have no problem admitting when I am dead wrong about something. I was dead wrong about Josh McDaniels. The guy is doing a great job.How can you not love McDaniels? I'm a Charger fan and I love the guy. Gonna be fun going back through some offseason Bronco threads and seeing some Bronco homers swallow some crow.
Enjoy it now SSOG, the magic carpet ride comes to a crashing halt next Monday night.Completely agree. Well, it is a virtual must-win for Norv Turner and his .500 team. They can't afford to fall three games back in the loss column to a powerhouse like the Broncos.Enjoy it now SSOG, the magic carpet ride comes to a crashing halt next Monday night.Completely agree. In case it hasnt been said, the Pats should never have stopped wearing that helmet.
The brown and yellow vertically striped stockings are awesomeness. In case it hasnt been said, the Pats should never have stopped wearing that helmet.Love those old Patriots unis. On the flip side, the Broncos old unis...not so much.
I knew someone would bring this up. It eliminates PART of special teams (last I checked, kicking a field goal was still special teams), whereas the current system eliminates OFFENSE and DEFENSE 30% of the time, which are a much bigger part of football than punting.Yes, with college rules Brett Kern would have never seen the field in overtime. In the current system Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and Champ Bailey never saw the field.Even still, it completely eliminates special teams, which are kind of sort of a big part of actual football. It would be easy enough to not count OT stats in fantasy.
Meh, he intentionally went through the guy's back to get there. If a defender does the same thing, it's called PI. When the defender has position you can't just bowl him over any more than a defender can do to a WR that has position.Marshall was playing the ball, just like the CB. No OPI, just a quality pass breakup on BMarsh.Should've been offensive PI there. Horrible throw by Orton to put it right in position to be intercepted. That's supposed to be a safe throw.
But they COULD HAVE. Typical football is a game of field position- get the ball, move it, try to score, if you fail pin the other team deep. Then they try to move the ball, try to score, and pin the other team deep. Sure, Brady never saw the field in the overtime period... but there have been entire quarters where the offense hasn't seen the field because the other team's offense was so good at ball control (think Dolphins/Colts earlier this season, Broncos/Jets in '05, or Broncos/Colts in '02). It's still NFL football... it's just sudden-death NFL football.I don't think sudden death is the best way to go (go go first to 4!), but it's a heck of a lot better than the college system, which isn't actually football at all- it's just a glorified red zone scrimmage. And how would your argument work when the guy kept off the field was Devin Hester, Josh Cribbs, or Johnnie Lee Higgins?Besides, the biggest complaint about sudden death is that it's not fair to the team that loses the coinflip... but the college system is even *MORE* unfair to the team that loses the flip. I'd bet the team that wins the flip in college has a higher win% than the team that wins the flip in the pros.I knew someone would bring this up. He reached around the defender to play the ball. It's perfectly legal, whether you're on offense or defense. Think back to Tyrone Prothro's ridiculous grab in college a few years back.Meh, he intentionally went through the guy's back to get there. If a defender does the same thing, it's called PI. When the defender has position you can't just bowl him over any more than a defender can do to a WR that has position.Marshall was playing the ball, just like the CB. Well, we don't know if Denver owns NE, or if Shanahan owned NE. McDaniels is off to a good start, though.Lost in all of this chatter is the fact that the Denver Broncos still own the New England Patriots. For as long as I can remember, the Broncos always beat the Patriots (except for last year and 2003 when the Broncos were starting Danny Kannel).
Further reading:SUPPLEMENTAL NOTESAh, I read that as after the KICKER had touched the ball, not the defender. Either way, it's ludicrous. Everyone who watched that play knows that the Broncos player was doing his best to avoid the kicker, barely brushed the kicker, and the kicker flopped egregiously. If the rulebook says that's a penalty, the rulebook needs to be changed.Welcome back Eddie Royal and Brandon Marshall. To paraphrase a very wise scholar of the game... you are who we thought you were. You are who we thought you were! You have to touch the ball first for that condition to apply. Note the word "and".
And in that game it was a last minute TD that Deltha O'Neal coughed up after Belichick opted for a given safety by snapping a punt thru the endzone on their previous possession where we'd pinned them just about on the goalline. Never seen that before or since but it was masterful.Lost in all of this chatter is the fact that the Denver Broncos still own the New England Patriots.
