Game Thread W5 - San Diego vs. Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

How bout a PI call around the end zone...1 yd line...2 yd line...that last 40 yard gain got me quite a few points.I can see the 50 yarder attempt now...Marty isn't thinking End Zone

Psst..hey Bill, That kid Parker could save you from getting all those RBBC questions later. FEED HIM !!

Here's the rule:

"After a valid fair catch signal, the opportunity to make a catch does not end when a kick is muffed. The player who signaled fair catch must have a reasonable opportunity to catch the ball before it hits the ground without being interefered with by the members of the kicking team."

Rule 10, Section 1, Article 4, Supplemental Note (2).
Reasonable being the key word in the rule as it pertains to this play. The punt returner did have a reasonable opportunity to catch the ball, and after it was obvious that he was not going to catch it, it landed in the defender's hands. What crap.

Marty being outclassed in coaching again...calls that dump off pass to try and gain as much as possible to kick a FG thinking he can hold the Steelers...72 seconds later...there's a reason he has never been to a Super Bowl.

From football.comMost Penalties, Both Teams, Game Penalties Game 37 CLE (21) vs. CHI Bears (16), Nov. 25, 1951 35 TB (20) vs. SEA (15), Oct. 17, 1976 34 SF (22) vs. BUF (12), Oct. 4, 1998 Interesting none of these games involved the Raiders.Anyone know many have been commited tonight?

Pittsburgh coaching mistake? Should have gone for 2?

Now SD just needs 2 FGs to win.
I disagree, although I thought about it right after the score. It's great if you make it, of course. But if you miss, and then SD scores a TD, PITT needs a FG to TIE. By going for 1, if SD scores, then SD needs to convert a 2-pointer to get a 3 point lead. I think it's smart to go for 1 when you're up 4.

Edited to clarify...

Hey, I see that Tripplett is the Referee for the game tonight. Already 16 accepted penalties. We are in for a long night.

Should have done an over/under for his crew.
:goodposting: Tripplett and his crew should be doing HS football......

Is McCardell in the game? Have not seen much of him. (good thing since my opponent has him and I have finally pulled ahead of him).

My thoughts too.

20 accepted penalties for over 200 yards........These guys know how to absolutely kill the flow to a good football game.

Al & John. LT might only have 36 yds rushing....oh make that 50. But he also has 72 receiving. Not LT like numbers but still nothing to sneeze at boys.
