Game Thread W8 - Minnesota V Green Bay (1 Viewer)

This could have been a game for the ages. Too bad McCarthy got completely outcoached by Childress.

Very good game by the Vikings. They are a very tough team to beat.

For those in close games, worth noting nfl.com just gave a 7-yard reception to Greg jennings that was definitely caught by Donald Lee. will presumably be changed in the fullness of time.

B. Favre 17/28 244 4 0A. Rodgers 26/38 287 3 0
Favre ZERO sack, X hitsRodgers 6 sacks, 11 hits
And if they switched teams Favre would still be sacked/hit fewer times than Rodgers
This.I like Rodgers, think Packers fans are and should be happy to have him at the franchise QB post Favre. But he really seems to hold on to the ball too long. Bad OL, certainly...but he still holds on to it too long.

there's a reason guys like Peyton and Favre don't get sacked as much as others...and it has nothing to do with mobility
rotfltry Manning with the Buffalo OL
Manning gets rid of the ball faster than pretty much every other QB in the league. And he has enough mobility to get out of the pocket and make a play if necessary.
yeah i remember his mobility against the Pats D with 3/4 men around him back in the day

Congratulations Vikings fans. We didn't show up until the 3rd quarter.

It was a good game for a time but you need to pressure Favre more to win.

I'd like to see Rodgers with that offensive line. The guy has a good arm and great feet.

Good post. GB didn't show up until after halftime. And they just were not able to get enough pressure on Favre. Did a great job holding down Peterson though. But couldn't handle Favre. That has to hurt - I'm guessing they would have much rather have been beaten by Peterson than Favre.J

 I think Rodgers is up there with Manning and Brady as the best QBs in the league, but they need to fix that O-line or they will get the guy killed!

:goodposting: Dude needs to learn to get rid of the ball and he'll be dangerous.

For sure. And that's not just the fans, that's the guys who decided prematurely that Favre was finished.

Vikings locker room coming up. Hopefully Shiancoe keeps his towel on.
My favorite part of highlights on NFL network is when Rich Eisen calls a TD by Shiancoe - "Visanthe hangin' out in the endzone."

A couple thoughts on the Packers from what I have observed, not just from this game, but the whole season:

- Rodgers is a very good qb. Good enough to lead a team to the Super Bowl. But he needs to learn to get rid of the ball either by dumping it to a check down, or simply throwing it away. He is going to get himself killed. The O Line is shaky, but not as horrible as many think. Rodgers gets happy feet, when he should be stepping up in the pocket.

- O Line needs work. I think TJ Lang did alright, but he looks like more of a right tackle.

- Nothing bad to say about the receiving/tight end corp. Looks like we found a partner with Jermichael Finley next year in Havner.

- Ryan Grant just doesn't have that extra burst. There was a hole in the 3rd quarter that could have been a 65 yard td. He got tackled after an 8 yard gain. He just doesn't have that extra gear. Would have loved the Pack go after Leon Washington, but after his injury, not so sure.

- Was Ahman Green really the best they could do as a replacement for Blackmon? Really? He looks slow. Really slow.

- I really hope the Packers don't ditch the 3-4 next year. They are a couple pieces away from being very, very good. First, they have to admit their mistake in drafting AJ Hawk and play the best player, regardles of draft slot. I really like Chillar. Guy makes plays. And Clay Matthews is going to be solid OLB for this team. What they need is a pure pass rushing OLB. Kampman is a 4-3 end, not a 3-4 OLB. That should be priority # 1 in the offseason.
