Game Thread - Wildcard- Jacksonville V New England (1 Viewer)

Hard to tell how much of this is a defensive struggle, and how much is caused by mistakes by both teams on offense.

Why do they still call them "wildcard" games when only half the teams participating are wild card teams?
they always have. 1st round of playoffs is the wild card round. 2nd round is the divisional round.doesn't make a ton of sense, but its nothing new.
Well, to me, it made sense when there were 3 wild cards and 1 division winner in these games...But with 2/2, just is weird.
Part "legacy", but mostly because it does make sense. This is the ONLY weekend that Wild Card team is guaranteed to play. Next week can be all division winners if seeds hold.
Right, this is the wild card winners' chance to "make the playoffs". It makes more sense if you think of it as the top division winners have already made "the playoffs", while the worse-seeded division winners have to defend their playoff berth, but at least they get the luxury of playing the non-division winners.

Wow.. squeak that one in
Looks like he had plenty of leg, and that was the same direction that Vinatieri was facing in the first quarter. Those non-attempts may haunt them.
that's what i was thinking. they claimed the wind was in adam's face on the non-tries, but on scobee's they said "no wind."odd.

The non-attempts led directly to the Patriots having the great field position which was exploited to get a touchdown.

I'll take 3 and kickoff anytime.

Del Rio accuses Pats of tampering with the communications system. That could get interesting. :coffee:
Belichick with an Army special forces radio jammer going. Gosh, he thinks of everything. But if it is true, then I may have to take a long vacation from these forums. Things would get real ugly.

I only caught a piece of this. Did the announcers give any details?
No. Just Tafoya saying Del Rio was upset the system was breaking down "at key moments" causing the Jags to have penalties, etc. And Del Rio wants the NFL to look into it.

The pats need some offensive adjustments here to open up a good Jax D. Maybe some Brady quick hitters.

I agree with the calls not to go for the FG, actually. I just hear conflicting reports on the wind in that direction.

Faulk looks pretty solid tonight. Definately not an every down back, but he brings alot to the table.
