Anyone else rolling with The Companions?

Turning into a Werewolf is fn fun. Swatting folks, feeding on them, running like, well, a crazy ####ed up WW.
Also, been having fun chasing down animals in the wild and dropping them with my bow. I wish there was a stat that showed how many different types of creatures/animals you've hunted/killed.

Lastly, how does the huge saw mill in Woodwhatever work? seems pointless. Is it just for ####s and giggles?

:nerd:

Sounds like a really cool game. Worth it to buy an Xbox? I mean, I am sure I would buy other games eventually as well. I've had only about an hours worth of my life taken away from playing an xbox at a friends. I'm mainly a pc gamer guy. How hard would it be to get used to an xbox controller for a game like this?

If I'm gonna play this, I want to play on my big screen, thats why I don't wanna buy it for pc.

Also, would one of those cheap xbox's suffice for this game (the $200 xbox)?

Not sure if this has been mentioned here but there is a pretty simple way to level Smithing if your so inclined:

Not sure if you would classify it as an exploit or not but you get the same amount of experience for smithing an iron dagger as you do for like steel armor, i.e. if you just steal/buy a ton of iron ingots and leather strips and just make 10-20 iron daggers at a time you can level up real quick. Allows you to make some nice armor a little earlier in the game. Be sure not to like spend all your perks you gain right away if you level smithing quick if you want to keep your player pretty balanced because you may end up with like 50 smithing before you even hit a 30+ battle skill.

3 deer were standing outside when I just left for lunch... fuuu this games already taking over real life. I remember thinking i saw a nirnroot while driving on the highway with the last one.

Ok I am having a hard time with something in the game now. I have had Lydia as my faithful companion for a while. After loading it up yesterday, she was gone. Typically I lose her when I am riding my horse to another area and she eventually catches back up. This time she never showed up. It sucks because she was carrying all my ore, ingots, etc. but that I can deal with. I am trying to hire a new mercenary person though and they keep saying "looks like you already got someone". So how do I go about finding Lydia, or at least getting rid of her so I can get another person?

Thanks.

Go back to Dragonsreach, she might be there.

Or possibly in your house (if you bought it in the same town as Dragonsreach).

Haven't bought a house yet, but I will definitely go check Dragonsreach for her.

Am I missing out by not rolling with a companion? As stated earlier, I'm playing a conjuring/destruction wizard. Obviously some fights will be easier with a tank or a blade, but do the companions add to the overall gameplay?

Did you try fast travelling somewhere yet? I've lost my companion a few times and every time I fast travel they appear when the screen loads.

I've been attacked by a dragon all 3 times that I've slept at the College of Winterhold. Wake up, go outside and run across the yard, hear a the beating of wings followed by a roar, say holy #### and scan the sky with fear, then prepare for an epic battle. Man the dragon fighting on this game is just top notch. I can't think of any game that has random, non boss or cutsceen encounters that give you that holy #### feeling like hear the roar of a dragon in the sky.

Be careful with chain lightning if you do. It does not care which target it jumps to!

You're probably better off buying an HDMI card for your computer and connecting it to your TV. Seems cheaper that way. Keep in mind that with past Elder Scrolls games there have been some really good mods that come out that are only available on the PC.

I never use companions. Never used one in either Fallout game, not using one here. I like playing the loner type.

To me the benefit is not so much in fighting skills, but being my personal shopping cart. It's another person who can carry hundreds of pounds of stuff, so you can keep a much bigger inventory.

Yeah, if I had a gaming PC, that would be the no-brainer way to go.

Thanks for the reply, I will think about that. However, if I were to buy an Xbox, would the $200 Xbox suffice for this game? As far as storage for saved games etc...

I'm playing on an xbox that I bought back in 2006. No upgrades. I've had a couple freezes but other than that no problems with the game.

Yep just tried fast traveling, went back to Dragonsreach, etc. Can't find her anywhere. She can't be dead I don't think, because everyone keeps saying that I already have someone with me.

Would the 4GB model be ok for the saved games etc....?

yes. I only had 3gb of HD space left on my xbox before I started with Skyrim.

I never used them until recently. Now when I travel between cities I always bring Lydia. If I ever run into a gang or a dragon, her, me, and my summoned dremora makes for a potent force. The dremora rushes in with his greatsword, Lydia general fires arrows, and I sneak behind the action and backstab with dual X15 dmg daggers. We own everything, including dragons. However, in the tight confines of a dungeon, I don't bother. That would change if I couldn't sneak though. If I was a mage like you, I'd totally want Lydia to be a target dummy for enemies. Between her and your conjured help, you should be free to wail on people with spells.

As far as an HDMI cable, can I use any HDMI cable, or is there some sort of Microsoft HDMI cable that can only be used for hooking it up to the tv?

All HDMI cables are the same, find the cheapest one possible. Do not buy MONSTER or any other crap like that. The signal is the same.

Make sure your computer has an HDMI out. If not you'll have to buy an HDMI card or an adapter. If you have a DVI out I think THIS would work.

My gaming pc is on its last legs, thats the main reason I don't wanna buy Skyrim for the pc. I'd rather pay a couple hundred for an xbox than a grand for a new gaming pc, at this time anyways. Plus I'll play other xbox games eventually. When I DO buy a new gaming pc, I will make sure it has an HDMI out.

Don't have much experience with the 4GB X-Box but it doesn't really have 4 GB of storage more like 1.5-2 free GBs from what I've seen. Also don't think it will allow you to download the game to the HD but I don't know how this would affect Skyrim.

What, the saved games?

My favorite part is when I'm sneaking around in the shadows and hit somebody with an arrow, only the arrow doesn't finish them off. I back out a little and the guy I just shot inevitably fails to find me. Then he wanders off saying "I guess I was just imagining things." Uh, no guy. That arrow sticking out of your liver is not just a figment of your imagination. If the lines between imagination and reality are really that blurred for you, you need to lay off the skooma. But since you only have 10 more seconds to live anyway, I guess it's really not that big a deal.

No, with XBox, you can help speed up loading times, graphics etc if you like partially download the game to the HD, not sure the specifics but I do it with the bigger games just to help running things. I am pretty sure it will work fine on the 4 GB but just pointing out some potential issues.

:lmao: Anyone meet a skooma dealer yet? I've bumped into a few on the road.

Has anyone found any ebony daggers or bows yet? I have found every other ebony weapon except for the ones I want to use
I'm currently using an enchanted ebony dagger, wish I could tell you where I got it but I can't remember! I was barely surviving somewhere I definitely wasn't "meant" to be able to handle at about level 15, though. I'm level 21 now, still using that dagger duel-wielded with the Blade of Woe, as well as a dwemer bow.

I'm level 25 and you people have cooler items than me.I have an Elven Dagger improved to "exquisite" and enchanted with 12 fire dmg, and an improved dwarven dagger with soul trap on it. Both custom made.I think the best item I have is an Elven helm of archery - +25% dmg.

More than enough. You can also use Flash USB drives as memory cards on the 360 with the recent dashboard update (thank the Lord!). :fistpumps:

There's a bug with installing it to the HD that has yet to be fixed, so you really wouldn't be missing much by not installing.

So this game would look better using an Xbox hooked up to a 50 inch plasma via HDMI, rather than playing on a computer/monitor?

Best graphics are available on computer, but you need a heavy-duty gaming rig.
My pc is a gaming rig, but certainly not heavy duty. 3-4 years ago maybe lol. Plus as I said, it's dying a slow death. Can't afford another for quite a while.
I'm currently downloading it to my PC that was a decent machine (not top of the line but not terrible) 2 years ago. I'll let you know how it runs.
