My first impression is positive. But thinking about it, what it would do is force some sort of balanced character as you wouldn't be able to progress in Skill X until you improved enough elsewhere to move up to overall Level Y. And I just wouldn't want to force that onto a player.
I would definitely need to play with the numbers and tweak it. I agree that I don't want someone sitting there having to continually gain levels in pointless (for his character) skills just to be able to advance. I don't think that will be a problem, except maybe at the higher levels when it takes a lot more advances to gain a character level.

That's sort of an issue already (as anyone who has seen me trying to swing a two handed weapon can attest). So that probably isn't a real big stumbling block.

On the topic of better balancing the game....What do you guys think of limiting how high your skill can progress based on your current overall level?Like as a level 1 character you can't have a skill over 30. Every level you gain, your max skill level in each skill goes up by 1.5 skill levels. So at level 10 you could have skills as high as 45. At level 30 you could have skills of 75. You couldn't have skills of 100 until level 47.Can tweak the numbers obviously, but would something along those lines make the game better in your opinion?
Maybe a bit. I've had more fun with my recent mage character that won't do anything but magic. No weapons so taking out archery, one and two handed etc. Really has slowed the leveling down and made the game a lot of fun.

Conjuration? Bound Bow?
I wanted to slow leveling as much as possible so the only Conjuration spell I use is Soul Trap. I also use Heal from Restoration everything else is Destruction.

I think he means what do you do when you get cornered and HAVE to melee? Conjour a weapon? Die?

Working my way through the dark brotherhood:

WTF do Cicero's things have to have such good bonuses on them? The last thing I want to do is keep around his Jester's outfit to wear every time I go to sell, and I'm absolutely sure I don't want to wear that lame jester's hat to help me sneak around (30% bonus vs the 25 on the hood I wear now). Ugh. What's a fashion conscious adventurer to do?

Enchant your own boss gear that's even better

Enchant your own boss gear that's even better  My enchanting isn't nearly good enough for that yet. I've probably got the resources to just sit down and power through to get smithing/enchanting both to 100 and make myself some great stuff, but I prefer to advance thing at a more natural pace

I don't melee, I've died a couple of times after getting cornered but just try to avoid tight spaces. Once you get Impact on the Destruction tree you can pretty much own any melee enemies.I'd like to try to do another guy who won't use anything ranged, just a one handed sword and shield but I think fighting dragons would be too tough with that build.

Finally managed to finish the Black Star quest.

I sent my spectral assassin after the dremoras, and he rushed them well down the path, went into stealth and ended up one shotting each of the three dremoras from stealth while they were still searching for me and then made my way down to the bottom and shot Malyn in the back too. That was more than a little disappointing after how much trouble I had with it before.

Downloading the 1.4 release now on my PS3.
They said for it to work, you need to create a manual save once you start the game up, and restart the game
So load, save, quit game then start it back up?
Yep pretty much

Do you have a link regarding this? I looked around on the wikis about this release and did not see this mentioned. I have not played yet as I went to bed so I can easily do this.
Saw it on GameFaqs. I believe it was part of the official release notes by BethesdaI cant goto GameFaqs at work so I cant link

I just did the Morokei dungeon with my mage/one-hand elf (5+ deaths), way more challenging than my tank nord (0 deaths)...must say, good thing I had that magic damage ax as back up, worked like a charm on that last boss. When you get cornered and run out of magic it can get really interesting. that one arena where the dragon skeleton goes after you and your follower gets locked out, I got :topcat:

Cranked up the difficulty to Master last night. That made the battles a little more interesting, but I'm still finding myself getting pretty bored after about 45 mins or so. Might just finish off the main quest along with Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild and be done with it. After I get married, of course.

Looking forward to 1.4

I pray the freezing is solved. I have not played in over 10 days as I had to wait for this fix. Looking forward to playing tonight.

There is a very easy way to beat him. Took me close to 5 hours of play to think about it but it woked
Once you free Moreoki from the other 2 guys, run as fast as you can out of the door and around the bend. Go back to the door and launch as many arrows as you can at him until he starts to come for you. Run back around the bend and he will never leave his room. Rinse and Repeat until he is dead

This is where Sanguine Rose has come in handy more than once. I don't even bring followers with me anymore.

Nice.
started off trying to chase him around with magic but was getting fried. I eventually started power hits on him with the magic damage ax, not sure if its was because of the enchantment, but he was getting stunned ever hit, so I knocked him into the water and he got stuck in there and just got a pounding from the conjurations and follower while I kept hacking away.

I need to try that out this time around. I have the frost conjuration staff who I use as a walking shield :P

1.4 patch fixed my quests that were locked but it didn't fix the issues with the Bards quests with the Drum and Flute. I gave them to their rightful people at the Bards college but they never removed from my inventory and are still there after 1.4 and I can't drop them. :kicksrock:

is there any way to adjust the game so that when you sheathe your weapon, your follower will not attack? there were several times when a friendly and the follower somehow started getting into it because someone stepped on the others toes, once it starts its like a bar brawl, you yell at em, but have no control.

I've been out of it about a week. Not so much due to freezes as just needing a break. Hopefully will come back refreshed. And hopefully, with the patch, I can get this damn book out of my inventory!!!!!!!

doubtful since the Bard's College drum and flute haven't been fixed.

Getting further in this game and it just keeps getting better. Actually did some smithing and enchanting and jumped a couple levels just doing that.

For people who have small kids that want to watch the game (my kid LOVES the dragon fights) but also have wives that worry about what they are seeing (reasonable) the solution is to fast-travel to any city while the kid is in the room, and then do the grunt work like smithing or enchanting or selling stuff. Nothing bad ever happens and the kid thinks to the game is boring.

Main Quest

The Throat of the World and subsequent Elder Scroll quest were really cool. Blackreach is freaking nuts. Definitely the coolest underground area I've been to. Like an underground town. Taking a break to get some better armor through the Thieves Guild.
Theives Guild

Just finished quest where that **** Mercer tried to kill me. Thus far this quest line is killing the Mage one and much more interesting. Just has a cooler feel, even if some of the quests do make you feel a bit dirty. On my way to Markarth right now and that should be interesting. Really looking forward to Nightengale armor at the end of this quest line.
Wookin Pa Nub

I've got the Amulet of Mara and my nasty-### follower came on to me and I saw the marriage option, but how do I go about choosing a hottie? Is every woman out there available? How to go about getting married?

Well, I have to travel to the Mage College for the main quest anyways. So I'll swing by book guy and see. I tried going through the dungeon again and got to the chest where I picked the dang book up in the first place. Quest arrow points to the chest, but there was NOT a second copy of the book in it. I took everything out, arrow still points to the chest. I tried putting the book back in the chest, but am told I cannot as it is a quest item. So I left the area with the quest arrow still squarely centered on the chest. Ugh. I got the dang Red Guard sword or whatever quest three times. At least that one let me travel back and clear it.Did the patch fix the missing treasure chests?

Does it make sense that I am not planning to use any perks in lock picking? I have been able to open all locks (including expert and master) so far. Character is at level 16.

Here are all the items and bugs the patch fixes. Note that even though something may be listed as fixed, they are not 100% sure all will work with if the patch is downloaded while in the middle of a game. It seems more reliable if you download the patch and then start a new game. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Patch

I don't plan to. I have 500 picks in hand and more patience than most Master locks.
Cool. Any recommendation on where to get a lot of lock picks?
I haven't bought any there are so many laying around. I think I have 100 or so right now inventory.

only thing worthy might be the extra 100 carrying capacity perk, I'm not upgrading that tree and relying on enchanted items to improve lockpicking %

Yeah, 500 was an exaggeration. I bought some early on, but mostly pick them off of bandits or just find them lying around. I saved up quite a few while I had the Skeleton Key too.

My lockpicking is in the 90s and I never put a single perk in to it. You'll find very few that have, though there are some. But patience, lots of lock picks, and saving before you try makes that skill tree one of the more useless ones.
