General Malaise "vs." reading comprehension ; also some talk of skyim and the elder scrolls (2 Viewers)

I have a ton of Dragon Bones that seem valuable to sell (I am light armor so only need dragon scales). Who will buy the dragon bones from me?
I know the trader in Riverwood buys them, I would assume anyone would. I have a few sets of dragonscale armor so I just make dragonplate or dragonscale armor and then sell those, it's worth more that way.
Apparently whenever I go to Riverwood a dragon comes and ends up killing people I like...Feandel (I think that's how to spell it lol) and now the shop owner. Does anyone ever pick his shop back up again or is this just going to remain empty forever now?
Yep it will forever remain empty. I had a similar thing happen with the blacksmith in Riverwood. Pretty sure his whole family was killed by the dragon, his house is always locked and I never see anyone. I broke in and no one was there and it didn't matter what time of the day it was, day, night, middle of the night, etc..
I found his body and the only thing I took was the key but I wasn't sure if eventually someone took over or not. That sucks, he was the one that showed me the ropes to Smithing :(

So pissed right now. Got all the way to Moreokis chamber during a session tonight and it hard froze on me. My son passed out in my arms as I was playing so I just turned it off. Don't remember where I saved last.

My PS3 just hates me

If you have autosave on it probably saved right when you went in. So shouldn't put much at all

I've noticed that if it freezes when I'm changing areas, the autosave has usually occurred and it will load right where I left off... usually.

crosses fingers. I know since I have changed to a new PS3, it autosaves but does not always say it on the screen. Guess we will see when I get home today. My plan is to finish the College and then head on to the Thieves Guild while working on main quest. Im level 9 now so that Dremora staff is close as well. Working my way up conjuration and destruction chains and Lydia is still with me.

Did you get the 1.4 patch? I haven't had a single lockup since that download (knock on wood).

yes I have it. I have also noticed that I am having A LOT more lag and lock ups on my new slim. My old fattie froze a few times but hardly any lag and that was 70 hours in. I am 11 hours in on my slim and a hard freeze and noticeable lag in certain places

Weird. I am about 150 hours in, level 57, have uncovered most the map, and my lag went down after the patch. Though it will stutter on occasion, almost always during an autosave, I have found the transitions to be a bit quicker and, as I said earlier, no lockups. I feel for you if you are having issues already. Can't imagine what's going to happen as the file sizes start growing.

This has been my experience too with my level 48 guy.

Married Mjoll last night. I noticed the people I have most interacted with in the game attented the wedding. Pretty cool touch. Level 20, I am taking my good old time with this game and still having loads of fun. I'm doing most quests I come upon. Some quests seem stupid though and I won't do them. I get sidetracked like 5 times every night.

I was doing that love quest or whatever it was, and when I went to hook an old dead couple up, I finally came across a big battle. A giant, 2 mammoths, some wolves, a bear, and two dragons. By the time I got there, the dragons killed everything but a giant. We killed the dragons and I figured for sure the giant would then turn on me. He just kinda looked at me with an expression of "yeah, that's right, we rock". I just walked away. Didn't engage. Checking behind me every few steps of course....

ETA: I'm on the 360, and I have been experiencing a little lag, and it has frozen on me a couple times. Not thrilled about that.

Here is my update:

Level 34

48 hours played

24% trophy level

Armor = all dragonscale at legendary level

Weapon = glass sword at legendary

Bow = glass bow at legendary

All armor and weapons enchanted

Character has evolved from strictly spellsword into also a stealth sniper

7 dragons killed

4 shouts learned (5 words total)

I like where my character is at now, so I am just going to concentrate on quests and exploring. I would guesstimate I am only about 10-15% complete for quests.

I recommend you do quest called Forbidden Legend if you have not yet. Hard and very long (all over the map) but fantastic reward at end for a starting character.

This reminded me of somethign that the 1.4 patch apparently DIDN'T fix. I made a set of glass armor and smithed it to legendary just to put on the other mannequin in my house in Riften, including the shield. I have Dragonscale on the other. It looks pretty cool. Then I noticed the four position weapon rack in the same room. I thought "Sweet, I can really do this room up!" So I went to the chest I have there where I had stored four weapons I had been using before I smithed my current uber-weapon set and grabbed them to put on the rack. When I added each weapon to the rack, instead of hanging like it should, it looks as if I had stabbed the weapons in the to the wall. So instead of hanging there looking cool, I basically have four weapons pointing towards the wall, floating horizontally. Man, they sure know how to take the fun out of trying to display your trophies!I also took all of 20 minutes or so to meet the requirements to get the house in Solitude and bought it and fully decorated it. I also did the quest with the rubic cube from the crazy dude up north. Pretty good reward for that one. Basically a full level up worth of skill increases, even at level 56 (now 57)!

Gonna start a new guy tonight after learning the ropes a bit...it's going to be hard to Virtus go but I'm looking forward to moving on with a bit more knowledge. I'm going to use the bow more and the one-handed sword and shield combo.

I've come across this a few times now in dungeons. I have to turn these stones a certain way, thay all have signs on them. A snake, a bird, and a fish (i think). What am I supposed to do here?
It depends on the cave or dungeon. If you look around, sometimes before you get to the stones and sometimes right above or behind them, you'll see the pattern you have to set. As you have probably noticed when you activate them they turn. Once you have them all in the right order the doors, gates, etc. should open.
There's one out in the open west of Whiterun, and I looked forever for any clue as to how the columns should be turned but couldn't find one. Has anyone figured this out? If so, can you give a hint rather than spoiling? My progress:Finished thieves Guild quest last night. Kind of a lamo ending IMO for such a cool quest line. Liked it better when it was really just about stealing and treachery.Level 35 now, almost filled destruction tree, have entire right side of Sneak (sneak is above 80 now), and just upgraded archery again.Definitely jack of all, master of none build, but I like that. It kind of allows my character to deal with any situation in the most appropriate way: one guard, likely a backstab or sneak bow attack. Many guards, conjuring Frost Atronach and lowering the boom with a dual-cast fireball. Out of Magicka and backed into a corner? Dual-wielding is fun and one-handed leveled up with blades.Still have not used any perks on smithing but recently upped the ante on enchanting. For smithing I have decided just to use two perks to get the arcane enchanter perk so I can improve my existing weapons and armor, all of which are enchanted. Now debating whether to go ahead and finish out the main quest line.

Quick question for the Mage's out there. What do you use as a secondary weapon or are you just all out magic?
Conjuration/Destruction/Restoration until I run out of magic, then whip out the Nightengale Blade/Chillrend Sword dual wield combo'd with my slow time shout while my magic regenerates, rinse repeat....Finally went back to the OG Daedric Tank build and finished off the main quest, make sure you bring/find everything you want to take along before going....but really, Alduin ain't ####

Now debating whether to go ahead and finish out the main quest line.
The only thing that happens when you finish it is you see a lot more dragons when you are out and about. At least I have. Have yet to go more than 15 or 20 minutes in a session without coming across an Elder or Blood now, including a few multi-dragon encounters. Other than that, there's really nothing to indicate you even finsihed the main quest. So might as well if you like fighting dragons. I do, so glad I did it. If you decide to finish it up, prepare to be underwhelmed with the finale.

I guess I'll find out when I get back on, but if you negotiated a treaty prior to finishing it up, do the original Jarls retake their cities?

You know, I'm not sure. I need to tavel to Riften and find out I guess. But I seem to remember an NPC making a comment about the new Jarl, so I tend to think not. But don't hold me to that. I don't involve myself in politics so, once I get a home in the city, I rarely ever visit the Jarl again.

How's you distribute your perks? Anything you wish you did instead of what you ended up doing with them?

They lounge back and lean to one side way too casually for the uncomfortable looking wooden thrones they're sitting in. All of them seem to do this. Its all i can do to keep from stealth shotting one from a poorly lit corner of the room.

I'm about level 20 ish most of my perks are in Conjuration and Destruction, some in Restoration, Light Armor and One Hand so far. I haven't decided or started any in smithing or enchanting yet, but those would probably be the only other ones I might venture into. My first play through I was spread out all over everything except magic, so far finding I'm not missing having perks in sneak, pickpocket, block, alchemy, lockpicking, speech, archery since you can find/buy enchanted items to bump those, so I'm going to leave em empty.

Yeah I pretty much did the same with my first play through and I made many "mistakes" with some of the perks and stuff. Now that I have an idea of what guys I want to make I'm going to do that later on tonight.

I couldn't ween myself from melee because I was looking forward to using two swords at once, but playing more as a mage I'm pretty sure its possible to fend off close combat with magic as there is fire cloaks, runes, storms and then you can always conjure decoys to get enemies off you, and use shouts to clear space. You will need a lot of magic and quick regeneration to do all these things. hmm making me want to try a pure mage character.....

Blocked. Can you cut and paste the basics
Almost the identical article was posted earlier in the thread*Less DLC's than Fallout

*DLC's will have an expansion pack feel instead of a few hour DLC.

*Many ideas being considered including playing as a vampire lord, riding a vampire and water arrows
This sounds interesting, but I wonder what the release date is. Im nearly tapped out on this game and with ME3 coming out in a couple of weeks, I'm not sure I'd ever get around to this

I think it just gives you all of them at once.
I see. And it's working pretty well in reducing lag/freezes? I have a fat 60GB model.
It is for most, but not for all. See the post above or a page back from one user still having issues. I personally have not had a lockup since 1.4 was released and lag has become almost a non-issue.

Quick question for the Mage's out there. What do you use as a secondary weapon or are you just all out magic?
My regimen usually goes Candlelight (so I can see what the hell is going on), Stoneflesh, Conjure Flame Atronach (or use Sanguine Rose if already in battle), then double-shot of Flames. If magicka is running low (and I don't feel like using/have the potions to spare) I'll go with a shout first but absent that I actually usually go two-handed oddly enough - seem to better with the Skyforge Steel Frost Battleaxe than anything else but that's only as a last resort/finishing blow. Went into a low-level thief cave yesterday and the dremora basically did the level by itself.Combat with dragons usually consists of trying to hide behind stuff and attack it or get it from behind while it's engaged with Lydia and my conjuration.-QG

Funny how we attack the same way but play different. I'm heavy smithing (wanting to be able to improve enchanted stuff) and alchemy actually (though not so in perks). Most perks are in conjuration and destruction as well. I pick locks for sport really and don't bother with the improvements there.-QG

That's why I'm just starting 2 seperate guys tonight. I'll use an Imperial this time (for no good reason) and have him be my one handed w/shield, Archer minus the mis-placed perks of my original guy. I think I'm going to set up base in another city to start though, maybe Sollitude instead of Whiterun. The other guy I want to be a pure mage...nothing but magic at all. I don't even want to use armor...maybe I'll enchant some socks or something but that's it.
