Genrepalooza Presents: FG Radio - Tons of Lithium but very little Chill (2 Viewers)

Maybe it was because of the dedicated channel or the demographics here but tswift wasn't included in the Breakup Songs channel. She's written dozens of them and they've been analyzed by her fans as closely as the Zapruder film.  I'll triple up here.

438.8 - Taylor Swift - The Way I Loved You (Taylor's version) (Tswift Channel)

He can't see the smile I'm faking
And my heart's not breaking
'Cause I'm not feeling anything at all
And you were wild and crazy
Just so frustrating, intoxicating, complicated
Got away by some mistake and now

I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain
It's 2:00 a.m. and I'm cursing your name
So in love that I acted insane
And that's the way I loved you

438.8 - Taylor Swift - All Too Well  (Tswift Channel)

Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it
I'd like to be my old self again
But I'm still trying to find it
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone
But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
'Cause it reminds you of innocence
And it smells like me
You can't get rid of it
'Cause you remember it all too well

438.12 - Taylor Swift - happiness  (Tswift Channel)

There'll be happiness after me
But there was happiness because of me
Both of these things I believe
There is happiness
In our history
Across our great divide
There is a glorious sunrise
Dappled with the flickers of light
From the dress I wore at midnight
Leave it all behind
And there is happiness

Round 438:

This Is the Beginning

Head of Ringo -- Love Battery

Another one where I love how it just comes charging out. Their lyrics were never exactly linear, so I have no idea if "Ringo" refers to the Beatle.

The second time I saw the band, in 1994, it was at a tiny club in Philly and my friend and I spent quite a bit of time chatting with two members (Bruce Fairweather and Kevin Whitworth) before their set.

They didn't play this song that night, and when we said goodbye to them after they finished, we mentioned that we wished they had. "Dude, there's barely anyone here," one of them said. "All you had to do was ask." D'oh!

At least they played it the first time we saw them, in '93.

Ah, during the surf section of the instrumentals. And now we have a surf category. Now I remember. Oh well. I'll pick tomorrow or later. Or later tomorrow. Or...you get the picture.
I’d like to take this opportunity to say how much I love RA.  It’s a testament to our openness, because he HATED me and, in exchange, I determined to hate him in return.  And yet, despite differences that still exist, I just adore the guy.   :)

k4, how did you know I wasn't feeling so great to write such a nice note like that? I swear...

Thank you. And many returns.

Just one thing: I never hated you as you, though. I was just a frustrated guy; frustrated trying to communicate a bunch of things over my head and out of reach of my mortal self, so my temper was misdirected, as it can often be, often times for lack of a wit's heart than anything. Often times I marvel at how people here can disagree so artfully and I'm constantly amazed at that talent. So if I could take it back, I would, but then we're not here...

so thanks again.

This is what I was going to post before k4 wrote so nicely. About this: I've never been married, and God if we all can't relate a bit, but it's less the sour of the previous than the question about the present and future, which is a bit trickier, always.

Mary, this station is playing every sad song.
I remember like we were alive.
I heard it Sunday morn' from inside of these walls.
In a prison cell, where we spent those nights.
And they burnt up the diner where I always used to find her.
Licking young boys' blood from her claws.
And I learned about the blues from this kitten I knew.
Her hair was raven and her heart was like a tomb.
My heart's like a wound.

I saw tail lights last night in a dream about my first wife.
Everybody leaves and I'd expect as much from you.
I saw tail lights last night in a dream about my old life.
Everybody leaves, so why, why wouldn't you?

Mary, I worried and stalled every night of my life.
Better safe than making the party.
And I never had a good time, I sat by my bedside, with papers and poetry about Estella.
Great expectations, we had the greatest expectations.

I saw tail lights last night In a dream about my first wife.
Everybody leaves and I'd expect as much from you.
I saw tail lights last night in a dream about my old life.
Everybody leaves, so why, why wouldn't you?

I’ve never disagreed particularly artfully, so I appreciate that you were a person with whom I could, inartfully.

I don’t even recall how we came to a detente. Do you?  I wish I did.  But I want you to know how much I appreciate it and that you add so much to my life!  You’re brilliant and clever beyond belief, and your posts delight me (here…not in PSF).

Sorry, folks… get a room, I know.

A whole lotta liquor?
:lmao:

It really could have been. I was still drinking, but I think at one point -- and I forget exactly how it started -- but I remember posting that k4, despite our disagreements, was a poster whose posts I always read, thought about, and took to heart. It was in a movie thread, I think, and I was glad to have her contribution to it because I remember thinking it quite brilliant, much like a lot of her posts. So I figured that sort of brilliance deserved a compliment, and hoped to leave animosity in the past. And k4 is gracious, so that begat potential for mending fences and having fun together instead of making each other villains. I appreciate the second chance; most people aren't as forgiving as she was.

Anyway...that's how I spottily remember it. Someone extended an olive branch and it was taken through a critical discussion of movies. This was probably a little over three-four years ago, though it feels like yesterday.

So, yeah, liquor was likely involved, but "in vino, veritas" does not preclude sober truth, either.

:supersheepish:  Yeah, I think your timing is right.  Your kindness about my graciousness, who knows.  But we can say it’s been a boon for both of us, I hope.  Love you, my friend.

Love you, too, k4. Wishing you the best. Thoughts sent your way about a number of things. On my mind.

Round 438.xx

Category: Surf and Skate Shop

Song: Diamond Head

Artist: The Ventures

Straight off of a surf compilation I used to have on Rhino and thus into your life. Should the category be rolled again, I think I'll take others from said comp (it's a good one, IMO). It's got a modern rap/trap vibe with the whistles and reverb. Guess it's for the kids, both young and old!

Round 439.xx (Friday Edition - Up Late)

Category: Lighters Up

Song: My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)

Artist: Fall Out Boy

One of the biggest, banging, lighters-up songs ever. All the hallmarks. Build ups, guitar leads, pyrotechnic-craving fake drums, real drums, drum loops, snare drums, handclaps from a drum machine, you-name-it drums, metal vocal range, metal whoa-ohs from the eighties, post-hardcore breakdowns...all of the anthem fixin's and a frosting cake that actually goes well with the main course.
