Genrepalooza Presents: FG Radio - Tons of Lithium but very little Chill (4 Viewers)

Circling back to this as the Spotify algorithm is playing a Teenage Fanclub song for me.

My thing with Grand Prix is that the first two songs are exceptional -- you could even make a case that they are the best of the band's career -- and the rest of the album doesn't really come close to them. Bandwagonesque and Northern Britain are more consistent.

Sir, this isn't the pick-a-pair half-decade draft

I haven't listened to Luda in a long time. So funny how cool he was for a time. Just a crazy weird flow.
Yeah, me either. A unique voice. Not a whole lot to say, which I think was his decline. But Rollout was a mainstream hit. I remember getting Back For The First Time before I got Stankonia and listened to OutKast (it took the ubiquity of "Ms. Jackson" to get me to listen to OutKast, and even then I didn't cop that monster of an album) and thinking how out there the South was. Just sounded like another world.

Round 570

Category: Side 2, Track X

Song: Keep Shining On

Artist: Vain

Okay, so why is this '80s glam band's output from 2005 here? Shouldn't it suck? Like massive? Well, no. It's great. It's also so I can @plinkoand tell him that they're still shredding away in the '20s and are the absolutely objective best band from the glam era. And that missing them at that festival in Maryland (?) was criminal. Criminal, I say!

Never have so many wonderful lyrical cliches been stuffed into such an sonically amazing song. Totally makes me pump my fist and get wistful about superstardom for no reason other than she's taking it off, don't you know?

I'm checking all the channels
I see you're on every one
I know you worked it baby
Come on and come on and come on again

Keep shining on
I wanna tear down the walls
Keep shining on
I only wanna be your superstar

Round 570b

Category: Shake, Rattle, And Roll

Song: Shook Ones, Part II

Artist: Mobb Deep

Infamous track off of The Infamous. If I ever hear that piano riff in the background of a house party gone awry, I'm just gonna wave bye and scat scat scatter.

I'm at a conference for work (just across the river in Philly) most of the day Fri/Sat/Sun, so I won't be in this thread much on those days. I'll update my playlists and the spreadsheet whenever I get a chance.

Round 571

Category: Radio, Radio

Song: Car Radio

Artist: Spoon
I was at Bonnaroo last weekend with Tasker and Unialias and the "Superjam" this year was Jack Antonoff presents 1984. Britt Daniel came out as an unannounced guest (and Spoon wasn't on the lineup) to cover "I'm Going Down" and "The Killing Moon". Pretty damn cool for someone who likes them as much as me.

It's a very sad day for Women's rights. It's a sad day for this country. It makes me extremely angry.
It's disgusting to go backwards like this. I get that the original opinion had it's legal flaws but there were plenty of ways to get around that without putting lives in jeopardy, 40 years after the fact.

I think I picked “I’m Going Down” for this draft, actually.

eta* Nope. Hov34 picked it in a bonus round. Could have sworn I did.

I just came back from a march on Market Street.  It was a good turnout and spirited crowd but I feel powerless.

I was 13 when Roe happened, I remember my older sister the teenage feminist (and now lawyer) telling me how important it was. I'm now an old man and am ashamed by other old men turning away from equality.
