I’ve been at the new house in Wisconsin for a month. Haven’t had to use a sleeping pill once.

Also, the pain and pit I had in my stomach for the last 12 years is gone. All that stress - gone.

67 degrees right now and sleeping with the windows open. Heaven.

Jelly

Hoping to move back to Michigan within the next few years

Moved to Wisconsin for the following reasons:

1. Son is playing college football this fall in Wisconsin. Campus is about 4 hours from our front door vs 10 from KC.
2. Wife and I are gonna retire up here anyway
3. 16 year old son wants a career in the trades and the high school here can set him up as an apprentice for local companies starting this fall. He also loves fishing and would rather do that than anything, and there is world class fishing within about 10 minutes from my land.
4. Daughter and me hate the heat.
5. Our whole family loves the outdoors and hiking and fishing.

It's beautiful here.

Sounds idyllic, great job choosing a better quality of life

If I'm ranking Midwest states - old Northwest Territory purchase only, I'm sorry Plains states, but you're not in the club:
  1. Minnesota
  2. Michigan
  3. Wisconsin
  4. Illinois
  5. Indiana
  6. O-hi-O
Indiana needs to be last on every list.

This is probably true. Oldest sister was exiled there for a decade.

Hottest days of the year...air conditioner failed on Sunday. Lucked out and found a local guy that was able to come out today. Fortunately it was just a capacitor, so relatively cheap fix and have A/C again for about $350.

Is there a better sandwich on this planet than a BLT with freshly toasted bread, crispy bacon and a fresh homegrown tomato?

I think not
If that's really all that's on it, that's a quality sandwich. But I feel like you're posting a "family photo" to Facebook while excluding the ugly, stupid kid from the picture.
I figured the crispy lettuce was assumed 🤷🏻‍♂️
I'd hide it, too.
(And by hide, I mean trash)

It’s a great one for sure, but recently I’ve discovered fried green tomato BLTs. Mind blowing.
I absolutely hate lettuce on sandwiches, don't know why. I am a big Caesar salad fan, though. And for some reason I was able to handle some Romaine lettuce in a gyro at this Greek place in St. Paul when I lived there.

Maybe it's just that Iceberg lettuce is kinda meh and ends up being "too crunchy" to be in a sandwich for me.

I do love bacon and tomatoes, though. :)

I like a little bit of shredded lettuce on an Italian sub. Occasionally shredded lettuce or a small iceberg leaf on a burger

Most other sandwiches it’s just more trouble than it’s worth. Especially when it’s like a giant piece of romaine that just causes everything else to slide around while you try to eat it

Once I'm off this marathon Teams meeting, I'm headed to the DMV to apply for my Real-ID. I just realized that they will probably take a new photo of me since my current license has a photo that's over a decade old. And I'm currently rockin' a pretty sweet pr0n/cop 'stache. :oldunsure:

one great sandwhich is anything with swiss cheese its got the flavor of the alps and that makes anything better take that to the bank bromigos

It’s a an S-tier cheese, people like to look down on it though

Have we ever done a top X cheese ranking? I could definitely do 25, probably stretch it to 50 if I can include some variants. Anything higher you’d have to be a real cheese nerd

Appenzeller
Emmental
Raclette
Vacherin

No I think this one will get done. The other one I was really baked and don’t think I could pull it off

I can definitely do 50 posts about cheese

My wife makes the best grilled cheese you will ever have and it's quite simple.

Two slices cracked wheat sourdough
One layer of sharp cheddar (Tillamook or something even sharper). One layer is important for the ratio of crispiness-cheese.
Generously buttered and grilled.
The secret is salt. Sprinkle a good amount on both sides of the bread once it's close to done cooking.

Love that cheese, but prefer the french version.

I enjoy both, and have used them in fondues
