I haven't felt right for a few months. Seemed to have some head congestion, on and off fatigue, and at times have felt more winded than usual. Cardiologist ordered a stress test. Did it today. Everyone normal so that is a huge relief for me.
Did you have Covid? That's how I felt for a couple months after I had it.

Dry, unproductive cough or no? I felt like this towards the end of last year and it turns out I had a mild case of pneumonia.
My wife has been fighting this for 5-6 weeks. I think she had influenza A too, because she gave that to me halfway through

No cough.

I've had it a few times, but I stopped testing a while ago. I don't recall having a bout before this started.

the Dan Le Batard show comes on Peacock right after Dan Patrick so i sometimes see/hear the intro/first few minutes of the show. for the life of me i cannot figure out who is actually a regular "cast" member. DP has 5 people. sometimes one, or two is out. sometimes they have a fill-in host, or a backup for one of the regulars sits in.

but on Le Batard, on any given day, there are something like 11 different people in studio and over the course of the week you might see 25 different faces.

who are the regulars? are there none and they just roll through a pool of like 60 different people that can pop on when needed?

This really could be something related to Long Covid.

I've had a covid a few times and there a few things that have stayed with me.
  • I still don't have 100% of my smell back from the first time I caught Covid back in 2020
  • I can have some anxiety and elevated fear of heights that I think is also a neurologic after affect from Covid

I get congestion and all kinds of other symptoms from acid reflux. I have the type that doesn't cause heartburn, so I'll just randomly get congested and feel like crap and I get to play the "Am I sick or is it another reflux episode" game.

Getting poked in both ends soon. Combination endoscopy/colonoscopy.

I think I waxed poetic about this in the "Pet Peeve" thread, but I guess it's not necessarily a peeve rather than me just getting old and grumpy.

I spend about 10-15 minutes a day on LinkedIn. I like getting some industry news, etc.

Invariably I will see at least 3-4 posts from people that are "thrilled". "Thrilled to announce I've take on a new role at ABC Company!" Thrilled. Such a smarmy word. Maybe it's just me. Bah.

Also LinkedIn-related is that I'm seeing that people are dubbing themselves as "Storytellers". Like as their current job title. What in the actual eff is that supposed to mean?

*shakes fist*

Crazy moment at the homestead this afternoon. Sitting on the couch engrossed in the intense Severance finale when all of a sudden there's this big WHAM into our roof. Like WTF was that??? Next thing I know, I catch a glimpse of something big coming off the roof and crashing to the ground right outside our back deck. WTF??? As I go scrambling to the sliding glass door, I'm hearing all this screaming and there's like a million crows circling and cawing and going berzerk. What in the actual ---???

I'll try to get some photos linked here today...

I start screaming for my son to come upstairs, and he finally saunters his 20-year-old self upstairs:

"What are you screaming abo-- HOLY @(*)%*!"

My dog comes to the door and about pisses himself.

So I call the local PD because I have no idea what else to do. They then transferred me to a different government agency...

Probably went on for 10-15 minutes. Thought they were mating at first, and maybe they were. But seemed like talons were stuck. Just beating the absolute hell out of each other. They finally got the talons untangled and one took off right away. The other one sat there for quite a while. The local raptor center told me to basically go approach it to see if it flew off. If it didn't, then it was hurt and couldn't and they'd send someone to try to capture it. So I went and opened the door, it turned around and looked right into my soul. And then flew off.

Absolutely crazy how huge they are up close.

If that happened while watching the Severance finale I might have thought it was Mr. Drummond landing on my roof.

That's not a crow bro.....

Google bald eagle mating death spiral....it's fascinating
Um... Thanks. I knew they're bald eagles. There were tons of crows circling looking to pick up the pieces.
Do you live in northern wisconsin? Saw a bunch of crows circling a bald eagle on the ground next to the road when I was coming back from town this morning.
I do not.

Roadkill, I'm sure. Waiting their turn until bossman leaves.

Was just joking....

Was dead serious about eagle death spiral
I've read about that before. My understanding is that they will detangle talons just before hitting the ground. Obviously my house got in the way here.

That’s wild. I’d never heard of that. Crazy picture, too. Imagine if you’d been outside just looking at the sky and that came spiraling at you.

Where do you live? On the Reagan Ranch or something (I kid)? Are bald eagles making a comeback in the wild? We had a local pair nesting in L.A. recently. One of the hatchlings died, sadly.

Minneapolis suburbs. They're all over in Minnesota.

The ban on DDT in 1970s helped bring about a resurgence in the bald eagle population. That stuff was killing 'em - it was thinning their eggshells and the birthrates declined sharply. It's a nice success story and yeah, I see them all the time in Oregon. I thought they were only to be found in zoos or something when I was a kid in Texas. Never thought I'd spot them out in the wild, but I see them a few times a month now. Kinda neat.

Ohhh, I see. Oh wow about the DDT.

That courtship ritual is utterly wild. I'd never heard of that. Very cool.

More like RAPEtors

Seemed eerily familiar.

the eagle populatoins around here have improved so much so that i believe every county in wisconsin now has bald eagles nesting including milwaukee county back in the 70s we had only a few nests statewide so basically it is one hell of a turnaround take that to the bank brochachos

Driving north and south on I-75 in Michigan during the summer, eagles are commonly seen. Unfortunately, it is also common to see dead eagles on side of road that were whacked while feasting on roadkill.

I don't know about you guys, but I've had a pretty solid driving record since I turned 30. Got pulled over twice and issued tickets both times and on the surface, that's not too bad. But man, I'm on photo-enforcement ticket number 2 in 5 years and I'm pretty sour about it. Like....if you can't catch me in the wild, this seems like cheating! Need to get some FBG lawyers up on this to fight the battle against Photo Tickets. I say it's unconstitutional! (Note: not a constitutional scholar).

Anyhow, on the NICEST day of the year in my little city up in the NW, I have to take a 90 minute long defensive driving class on Zoom. At least I'll get the ticket cleared but dang man, not the way I want to spend a lovely evening. Rather be grilling, listening to tunes and drinking beer.

Which ones are catching you?

Same. Pretty much only three moving violation tickets my entire life. Been lucky to avoid all the red light and speed cameras around PDX.

This was a new one....Columbia Blvd heading west to I5 as 84 was backed up. Picked my cousin's husband up at PDX and didn't want to sit in traffic. They got me going 46 in a 35. :eyeroll:

Should have seen me before then, I was going much much faster.

I havent been caught by any traffic cameras yet, but I have seen a few flash at me while going well over the limit so thought I would have. I also have not paid my Portland art tax in 5 years of living here. That is some ******** right there. I'm half expecting someone to show up to my door to take to art tax jail.

Yea...Columbia has one each way by 33rd street. I drive that a lot. It's pretty well marked and indicated. :oldunsure:

Waze is also your friend for these.

The adage I've heard is: over by 8, you're great... over by 9, you're mine (from cop's perspective)

Well, see.....I don't hit that area much anymore, so shame on me. I was busy talking to my cousin's husband so just didn't even notice. Plus, it's Columbia Blvd - 35MPH speed limit is ridiculous. That should be 45. It's a bypass for the highway. C'mon, Oregon.

11 is the magic trigger here on speed cameras. I've found out. The hard way. :bag:

But COME ON! That's not even real speeding. 46 MPH on a four lane stretch of road in the industrial area on a Sunday? That's par for the course. You want write me up for 95 in a 65, fine. I'll meet you there. But 46 in a 35 with little to no traffic is nonsense.

I loathe speed and red light cameras with a passion. Very dystopian in nature and effect. All I can think of is the doctrine within evidence law that says machines can't make hearsay statements, which means recordings and photos and videos are admissible in court as evidence to the truth of the charge against you. That's where you get screwed here, I think. Would need Woz or one of the lawyers to say if that's accurate, but I can't help but shake the feeling that is the rub here.

I took a defensive driving course once. It actually really helped out my driving, which up until then had been abysmal. I have had three wrecks in the past decade living out in California, though, so I guess I didn't really get that good at driving, now that I think about it.

I'm going in with an open mind. If it's going to be 90 minutes of my time, might as well try and get something out of it.

As a younger man, I racked up something like 10 speeding tickets in 2.5 years. Not proud of that at all, but I was a menace on the roads of Eastern Washington and Middle of Nowhere Oregon, where traffic is light, roads are inviting and there's absolutely nothing to see or do out there. I'd be leaving the job site at 3pm on a Friday with a 5 hour drive ahead of me to get home and try to make it back in 4 so I could hit the bars in the city. That was......not wise. Got busted by an airplane the radioed me in, got in a speed duel with a black mustang that turned out to be an undercover narc cop who I thought was going to assault me, got pulled over by some Mounties on a Canadian toll road who just beckoned me to pull over with their hands.

Dumb. Just a very dumb 20 something year old hot head who thought 90+ was perfectly suitable. Better today, but this photo ticket irks me.
