One of my old drinking buddies and I were at a place on 6th street one night where he declared that the huge picture of James dean on the wall Must be the owner. After a good laugh I told him it was James dean. "No it isn't, James dean is black."
That's probably better than "the sausage guy?"
And then the awkward silence while you try to figure out if he means the porn guy or the actual grocery product manufacturer.

1 wk of vacation in central Oregon, weather was perfect and hot for this time of year. Kids favorite thing was floating the river (deschutes) on paddle board, kayak and rafts. We caught a bunch of trout including my first ever lake trout which was delicious. Now I have to go back to work to rest.

Best thing on reddit today

People posting embarrassing things about themselves

"Up until about a year ago, I thought hippopotamuses were just the girl versions of rhinoceroses."
I have a friend that thought sheep were female goats
What are lambs? Same as sheep?
Same friend...we were Up North one time browsing old pictures at an antique shop or something. Lots of pictures were titled _______ Circa 1926 and the like

He said "man that Circa guy took a ton of pictures"
Woz?

I think it has rained 16 out of the last 20 days here. #### this noise.
You guys ok?
oolEverything was flooding here which is kind of crazy since we live on high ground now.
I performed an outdoor wedding yesterday at 5pm. It was about 105F. It had rained for about 10 seconds an hour before. The heat and humidity was brutal. The groom was a chubby, little ginger. He was sweating like HJS at Build-a-Bear.

Who brought up oven bacon in here? Used this method the last two times. I'm converted.
I don't know who talked about it in here, but I'm a staunch proponent of oven bacon.
It produces consistently awesome results. I used a little rack that I put over the pan, so that the bacon isn't sitting in its drippings while it cooks. Between that and using a convection oven, it comes out perfectly crisp every time. And clean up is easy.

Oh, I really enjoy the drippings during cooking.

Where did you guys base out of? I got my sons inflatable kayaks for xmas and would like to unleash them this summer. Also, any lakes that aren't too far away you can recommend? Pass on Hagg Lake. We really enjoyed Boulder Lake a few years back....but hoping for something closer and not overly crowded (ha ha!). Can always hit Lost Lake or Trilium but they get overly packed.

Noice. We went two summers ago. Pretty awesome place. You guys rent a house?

IF....and this is a gigantic IF....all goes well with the twins arrival and life isn't completely chaotic with assistance from my MIL who is moving in with us for a few months, I will be taking my boys to Sun River with my ex-BIL and nephews for a long weekend. Hope like hell we can pull that off. If not, my BIL has offered to take my sons with him, which is pretty nice.

always. I toyed over the years with the idea of buying a place down there but figure its cheaper just to rent. in the winter we go for the christmas week and you can rent a house and get discounted Mt Bachelor tickets thrown in through Discover Sunriver very cheap. In fact if you go to Sunriver anytime not named Jun/Jul/Aug you can rent pretty cheap

Have you ever considered going in on a house with another family? I imagine the time to do that was 2008-2009 and not now. I've contemplated that. Seems like you could rent it out much of the year for income, but what do I know.

Lesli is all over me about doing this. We have been thinking Lake Chelan, because Bend/Sun River is a decent hike for us (not a literal hike, Krista), but the prices around Chelan are pretty high.

Yeah, that's like a 6-7 hour drive. FTN.

Okay, not really, but I'd like to be

As if the constant rain isn't enough, now we have tornadoes too. Had to go in the basement twice last night. If you check your notebooks, I really hate tornadoes.
My mom just called. She's having trouble with her laptop. It's probably loaded with malware/toolbars/demons. This happens about 4 times a year. She and my 7 year old great nephew are the only ones that use it. She swears "I don't download anything and I watch (nephew) carefully!" Yeah there is no way a 79 year old woman or 7 year old kid would do anything that might compromise a computer.

Now I have to go over there and fix it.

I'll trade you.

it doesn't really pay out. When you factor in your annual Sunriver Owners fee's, taxes, upkeep, and then the income you gain for basically 3 months, you end up breaking even or losing most of the time. I also would never buy property with another person, just too many entanglements.

you can still buy a 3 -4 bedroom fixer down there for sub $300K.

math is pretty simple for me, i might spend $4-5K per year renting homes at Sunriver, and blow another $2k on gas, food and fun and get to stay in mini mansions that I don't own and don't have to fix, or clean.

Debating whether to go with "knitting porn, IMO" or "your mom had you when she was 5??!!"

I'm running a malware bytes scan now. Nothing is coming up. This is not good news because I know there is something slowing it down.
