On a bright note Operation Handkerchief Removal has been going well. I support my wife signing Cal up for anything, like cleaning up a river tomorrow at 7am. You know, as long as I don't have to go. I'm a working man and the Lord loves a working man. Speaking of, Cal has to get up at 5:45-6:00 for school now so he is understanding what it's like to be a working man. He can't wait to go to bed at night and he told me this morning he was, well, "I pity anybody that tries to wake me up tomorrow morning". When he learned of his new found love of rivers in the warm morning light he exclaimed "are you kidding me?!!! MOM..do you think about anything or anybody other than Scouts!!!". I corrected the boy and told him not to talk to his mother that way. Of course on the inside it was like I just smoked some crank.

As an aside, for those of you keeping track, Cal had a pretty good first week and couple days of school. Only one minor incident where he was an asshole to his teacher, mocking her about doing an assignment. Obviously that isn't acceptable and I made him write her an apology letter. Teachers can be dicks so I totally understand.

Driving east on Hwy 26 from Mt. Hood to Warm Springs, the entire region was charred black with really nothing left to burn. As we descend down, way off in the distance is a billow of smoke. Cooper asks from the backseat if that's smoke signals he's seeing and I made fun of him a bit by saying something like "dude, do you SEE all the black char around you? This whole area burned up, there's nothing left to..." and POOOOOOOOOOOOF that billow of smoke ignited like it had explosives in it. Just a huge wild fire erupting right before our eyes. Granted it was far off in the distance, but nonetheless, it was something I'd never seen before and it was scary impressive. Those firefighters that take these wildfires on have some stones, man.
That fire started last Wednesday. On Tuesday I signed up a Warm Springs family for auto and home insurance. On Thursday my client called me to tell me the fire burned right up to their home - including burning some of the junk laying around outside their home - but they and the firefighters were able to keep it at bay. Scary stuff man.

:hey: Sup holmes. Lurking in here and reading your (and several others') accounts makes me want to be a better dad.

After a year and a half of my MIL living with us and making me want to drive an ice pick into my brain, we're moving her tomorrow. And of course I threw my back out yesterday. Good times.

I also get/have to drive a ridiculously huge truck that I have no business being behind the wheel of.

You know you partied too hard when........

Daughter went to some concert last night in Nashville then out to party......

She texted me today: I'm so mad. I bought some stuff from Target and it says it was delivered Friday and left on the porch, but I never got it.

Me: Did you check the porch or your neighbors porch?

Her: I got one thing yesterday but nothing today.

Long pause...........

Her: Oh ####, I'm an idiot, it's there. I thought Friday was yesterday.

Me: You know you have to work tonight right? I mean it's Friday, just letting you know.

Her: Shut up Dad.

:lmao:

You're pretty kickass already.

Doyers fans claiming Fiers' glove coated with "goop", it's all over the Twitters.
If it was coated in pine tar why did he throw it 20' into the air afterward? I'm no diabolical genius or anything but I probably would have gotten it into the dugout pretty quickly.

I just signed my son up for flag football and said I'd help coach. What the hell is wrong with me?
How old is he? 6?

God save you. We had kids turn and run the wrong way out of our own end zone TWICE because they got scared by the other kids running at them.

Little kids are especially stupid and this is going to royally suck for you. But try to enjoy it.

Direct TV guy here installing new dish/system. I figured out that in the 11 years we've lived here we've had Brighthouse Cable, Dish Network, ATT Uverse, and now Direct. Oof.

Oh my god.....my family just got rocked by an awful, horrific tale of infidelity that came out of nowhere. Not me - this time, blessedly - but my poor sister-in-law is a mess. Triage here since 5pm yesterday. I'll detail this up Monday but throps and stuff for her, her kids, my in-laws et al appreciated.

Also, shout out to Flags for taking our boys last minute, no questions asked. About as good as you can get for an ex.

Ouch. Is this somehow connected to that Billy Madison website?

Go on...

Excuse my manners - I mean, good luck with all of that and then go on...
