The outside linebacker who punched New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith during a locker room dispute missed his college team's 2011 season opener because he injured his hand punching a man he thought was a woman with whom he had arranged to have sex, ESPN Outside the Lines has learned.

IK Enemkpali, who was cut by the Jets after the Smith incident and is now with the Buffalo Bills, needed surgery after the 2011 incident and missed Louisiana Tech's opener against Southern Mississippi. He had been suspended before the start of that season for striking an off-duty sheriff's officer at a bar in Ruston, Louisiana, five months earlier, for which he was charged with battery on an officer and disturbing the peace.

The details of Enemkpali punching the man he thought was a woman are outlined in a police report obtained by Outside the Lines. Enemkpali was not charged in the incident and actually made the complaint to police after the man demanded money from him.

NFL sources said the incident -- and what it showed about Enemkpali's decision-making skills -- prompted at least one AFC team to take him off its draft board. And it was among the reasons multiple other teams were dissuaded from drafting him. One team, sources said, noted in its scouting report that Enemkpali "puts himself in bad situations."

According to the police report, on Sept. 1, 2011, Enemkpali began exchanging messages with a new Facebook friend named "Missy Lee," who offered to perform oral sex on Enemkpali if he would come over to her house. He told police that after he entered the house through a side door, he saw a figure inside "covered head-to-toe in a blanket," and the person would not remove the blanket. "Enemkpali stated that he felt uneasy about the situation, so he left," the report states.

But Enemkpali returned to the house after "Missy Lee" called him and convinced him to come back. When he arrived, the person wearing the blanket still refused to remove it and refused to turn on the lights. When a cellphone in the room rang, "the screen lit up the room enough to see that the person under the blanket had facial hair," the report states. Enemkpali said another person had also entered the room.

"Enemkpali stated that he felt that he was being 'set up' for a robbery of some type," the police report states. "Enemkpali stated that fearing for his safety, he then struck the subject in the blanket. Enemkpali stated that after he struck this person, their voice changed to that of a male. Enemkpali stated that he then left the residence through the window."


Enemkpali told police he started receiving threatening texts in which "Missy Lee" accused him of punching her and knocking out her teeth. "U are going to jail," read one of the texts. He offered $500, but "Missy Lee" demanded $1,000 or the police would be called. "He [Enemkpali] would be 'finished' if that happened." The texts were followed by phone calls from someone claiming to be the father of "Missy Lee" and demanding payment.

No kidding. Good luck, GD. My MIL has been with us since July 2 and will be here for....well, I don't know how long. She is on a one way ticket. But outside of asking silly questions and caring more about minutiae than any human I've ever encountered, she's tremendous and I'm happy/blessed/lucky to have her.

Adopted my daughter a little over 5 years ago. Combo of my daughter having some minor attachment issues early, my parents living 7 hours away, and my MIL never once offering to take her overnight.

Yeah, and since she's been saying how freaked out she is and how she thought this was a bad move for weeks before she moved in, the odds she forgot to lock the deadbolt seem awfully low. She's been tossing out the possibility that maybe it was the locksmith since he would have a key.She does seem genuinely freaked out though.

She'll be sleeping at our house tonight and this weekend while we are away. Honestly not sure if I'll be able to get her to ever go back to that apartment.

Drove thru some "nice" neighborhoods to get to Target and every card declined cause we forgot to tell them we would be there. Fun. Temple campus is beautiful and made me feel much better leaving her there. Thought I'd be more emotional but surprisingly I was ok.

If you have had problems with fraud on your credit card accounts in the past, the credit card companies become very sensitive to your usual usage patterns. If you make an airline reservation to go someplace on the card and add a hotel or a rental car, the companies' computers are usually smart enough to figure it out and you won't run into problems. If you suddenly start using your card someplace you aren't usually, then it is likely that use might be flagged as suspicious. Sometimes that results in cards being declined.

If he drove a long way to Philly, didn't use the card along the way and doesn't have a history of being in Philly, I could see how it would be flagged.

(None of this is based on first hand knowledge of how the CC companies' algorithms actually work, but rather is my best guess based on having experienced everything I just described above)

$49,011.43. For one of the twins. That was the amount billed to insurance. Also, the same amount showing up as "Amount Not Allowed".

The doctor bill for this same stay was just $11,902.00.

My Grandmother died Monday morning and my Aunt died this morning. Funny how sometimes you feel like you are prepared for this kind of thing and then find out you're not. You're not at all. Seriously feel like puking right now. Wish we were closer GB so we could drown our sorrows together.

Enemkpali reported the incident to police three days after it happened.

Awesome. We finally moved my MIL out of our house and someone tried to break into her new apartment apparently last night. So now she's freaking out on the verge of a mental breakdown and it looks like my first weekend alone with my wife in over 5 years is about to go down in flames.

It was great. Wife and I will probably go back, but not in August. It was a touch...hot. And damn near deserted at Loreto Bay Village. Which probably explains the incredible deal we got.

I think the water would be a bit too cold for my tastes in February, but I could see going in April or May.

We did not eat at Mita Gourmet. We actually cooked at home quite a bit, including more Dorado than we could actually eat.

what kind of deal did you score? and fish, how much are flights when you go? looks like it might be cabo 30-40 years ago, with nice places to stay.

Alaska flies direct from LAX, so it would probably be cheaper for you than it was for us coming from Sea-Tac.

We rented a 2 BR villa that sleeps six comfortably for $100/night. There were tons of similar deals and I bet I could have talked that price down, once I saw how low occupancy was during the low season. Check VRBO and look for places in Loreto Bay Village. It is gorgeously landscaped and the houses are really nice, but the place hasn't really taken off the way the original developer had hoped.

When the place was first being developed, pre-2008, the basic 2BR villa models were selling for prices around $375,000 (USD). Today there are listings for lots of existing homes of that model at $225,000-$250,000. Some of that has to do with the depreciation of the Peso relative to the USD, but not all of it.

Even during "high season", Loreto bay village is only about 50% occupied at any given time, according to a couple different locals I talked to.

The high end fishing charter places (like the kind the hotel books) wanted $475 for a day of fishing. I hired a local captain down at the marina for $220, though I had to buy fishing permits for five of us ($83) and wristbands to enter the national park ($13 for all of us). So all in I paid a little over $300, plus we had to provide our own drinks and lunch. I suspect that the prices for fishing would be higher in the high season. I also suspect I could have negotiated harder with the guy than I did (which was not at all).
