Thanks(to everyone for the well wishes).

Now that the drugs have worn off I'm more exasperated than anything. I didn't get let go because of anything I did or didn't do. I got let go because of other people's inability to do their job, and some dishonesty to boot, which led to lack of profit. So, now the company gets to do its second round of cutbacks since January. Guess who'll still have a job in a month though?

I've said for at least ten years that "working for The Man" is a fool's errand. A partner and I have been trying to make a go of it on the side with an LLC for the past 5 years, in hopes we could work for ourselves 100%. I still have that on my plate, which helps soften the blow of this a bit, but it isn't near enough work to be self-sustaining yet.

Starting to think I should just go into hock and become a slum lord, or something. Those guys seem to make money hand over fist.

In the meantime, if anyone is in the market for a devastatingly handsome 3D animator and modeler/graphic and interactive designer/mograph/branding/illustrator-y type guy with a load of experience...

Yeah, it's frustrating when you see stuff like that completely out of your control. My office has had a round of layoffs and will likely have another soon. Meanwhile, we lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in vendor discounts because A/P can't figure out how to pay an invoice in a timely manner. It's infuriating.

Not if we counter back. That extends the deadline.

Anyway, it all worked out and they accepted today. Now let the financing, inspection and packing/moving stress begin!

 
And thanks to everyone for the well wishes. It was a little scary for a second there as I saw the head come out with the cord wrapped around the neck... Twice.

But we were in good hands and my wife wowed yet another hospital crew by going 100% natural with nary a tear.

Anyone have an iPhone 4S or higher they'd be willing to sell me? Mine has, sadly, reached the end of its life.

I have an iPhone4 GSM, which is AT&T. I am on WalMart's Straight Talk plan so I think I have to stick with GSM. cos?

If not, I'm headed to eBay. Just prefer to buy my wares from someone slightly less anonymous.

 
Also, I'm feeding my older kid lunch and dropping her off at her grandparents' house so that I can go pay respects at my best friend's parents' house. Her mother passed away, suddenly, Friday night. I've been in tears all morning thinking about it. How can I go be what she needs when I'm such a mess?
