for reference we just got out insurance renewal info and it has having a baby as an example and said total costs around $7.5K with $1600 out of pocket

$49,011.43. For one of the twins. That was the amount billed to insurance. Also, the same amount showing up as "Amount Not Allowed".

The doctor bill for this same stay was just $11,902.00.

My Grandmother died Monday morning and my Aunt died this morning. Funny how sometimes you feel like you are prepared for this kind of thing and then find out you're not. You're not at all. Seriously feel like puking right now. Wish we were closer GB so we could drown our sorrows together.

i just deleted a long post about how f'd up my in laws are in NC. we just went back there, and it ended up being a really really difficult trip.

some of the best highlights of the trip were seeing 3 people from here, IB, cos and glumpy. thx guys! you made my trip quite a bit better than it would have been.

I had this really weird conversation about infidelity tonight with my wife. It was like she was setting the ground rules for what I could do that I could get away with. I'm just going to assume it was all a trap.

I had a conversation like that with my ex-wife several years ago.

She opened with something along the lines of "we are so good together, if something like that happened and it was just sex, it wouldn't ruin us."

Stupid me, I thought she was talking about the fact that she could forgive me slipping up, since I was traveling constantly for work in those days. Instead, right after I agreed to what I thought was a Get Out of Jail Free card in case I made a mistake, she began actively looking to cheat. And, of course, it didn't take long for her to be successful.

My parents are in their 80s and their entire social calendar consists of attending various memorial services. It seems like they go to two a week, but that is probably a (slight) exaggeration.

My parents have been gone for quite a while now (they'd be 101 & 99 if they were alive)... I still remember the morning death watch ritual of reading the obituaries, looking for names of friends. Do what you can to maintain or improve the quality of life of your old ones... when they are gone you wont have that chance ever again.
