I am pretty nervous about a physical I have to take for a new gig I'm trying to get. Start out making about 20% more than I am now (after being here for 7 years), and could double within 4-5 years. Would be very good for my family and I don't want to let them down.
Don't you run marathons?

Or are you worried about pissing in a cup?
:goodposting:
I ran one marathon, and I've been kinda putting on some winter weight since. I'm worried that the blood test thing is gonna come back with some super weird thing that I never knew even existed. I'm not worried about a drug test at all, though.

You normally wear protection, but then you thought, "When am I gonna make it back to Haiti?"

Awesome. We finally moved my MIL out of our house and someone tried to break into her new apartment apparently last night. So now she's freaking out on the verge of a mental breakdown and it looks like my first weekend alone with my wife in over 5 years is about to go down in flames.
That's crazy, man. How did you buy that bundle of goods?
Is this weird? It's been over 12 years since we had a full weekend just wife and me.
Holy crap. Get a sitter and get away for a weekend.
The kids are in sports, so no.She is dropping the kids off with her parents Saturday afternoon. We'll pick them up Sunday morning.

Do you really hire a sitter for a full weekend?
will either of your parents take them for a full weekend?
They'd be willing, but as I wrote before, we lived more than 8 hours away from them since we had kids. Now they're involved in sports on weekends. We'll get away for a night but not a whole weekend.
They'll live if you miss a game.
I'll live if I'm with the kids.

They miss games every so often, as do I despite coaching one of their teams.

Redmond, have you been able to figure out whether you can make 9/20 for a cornhole? I have a friend who wants to come in town and am telling her "no" for that weekend, but if the get-together isn't happening I'll let her visit.
I just checked the calendar and it is a weekend that we should be without the kids.

What is the actual plan?

ETA: I have actual clearance now, though Wife 2.0 is out, since she will be attending some God-awful baby shower.
 fishie's idea and I don't know that he has an actual plan yet beyond "watch football and drink together." I'd assume it will depend upon where attendees are located. So far we have "middle of nowhere northwest," "middle of nowhere southwest," and "middle of nowhere northeast," so that is handy. Mr krista and I will go anywhere, though.
Hawks are out of town, so gathering downtown or in SoDo/Georgetown areas wouldn't be insane. That is a pretty central location for me, RoverFish, Drifter and y'all.
Interestingly, the midpoint of Port Ludlow, Redmond, Lake Forest Park and Gig Harbor is the tip of Discovery Park. Ballard being the closet real neighborhood.

If you take out Port Ludlow, it is indeed SoDo.
Ballard is also the hardest place to get to in all of Seattle for each of us. Except maybe you.
Actually Ballard is easy for me to get to, at least as easy as downtown. Remember that's where we moved from, so I made many trips back and forth. We're open to more central downtown spots, though.

But not too close to the airport. Might confuse him.

Good thing is Seahawks play the night game, so the bars during the day won't be packed.

Box House in Pioneer Square is good. Henry's is always an option.

The Lodge on 4th is pretty good if we want to go downtown.

I'm kinda-sorta scheduled to be in Seattle the 18th/19th, but my slate changes more than a 14-year-old's moods. Might could extend.

I understand that having a car in NYC is a hassle, expensive and largely pointless.

I also undertand that makes NYC very unusual--weird even.

The fact that some New Yorkers don't really grasp the second part sorta annoys me.

How about Fonda La Catrina in Georgetown for excellent Mexican food, followed by football viewing at the Hawk's Nest?

I haven't been to the Hawk's Nest or any of the other sports bars in that area, so I am just picking off of internet reviews. That Mexican place in Georgetown is great though.

Oh, and thanks for letting us know you were going to be here, Bill. :hot:
:bag:

In my defense, I'm blaming a clueless management based in London. Those ####ers have had me at airports ready to board when they've told me to stand down.

"Why is your overhead so high, Bill?"

If I go through work, the default right now is at the Grand Hyatt. I have no idea where that is in relation to where you guys are talking about. I also have some flexibility in where I stay. Thoughts?

Don't worry. I had a company physical, too, and I'm a doughy blob of goo that drinks every day and ran a 5k six years ago. Seriously, you'll be fine.

worst concert i ever saw, unfortunately multiple times, was Smashing Pumpkins. I don't think you could intentionally sound that awful.

although one time I went to see Janes Addiction here in Portland and the warm up act was some fat chick from texas with a 4 man band backing her up and i'm guessing she played for about 40 mins. the last 2-3 songs people were booing her. when she finally finished she yells "#### you Portland" and walks off the stage to thunderous applause.
Sister 7?

I've also seen a couple good and a couple brutal Smashing Pumpkins shows.

One guy is one of the most acclaimed and accomplished American musicians alive today.

The other guy rhymes "things" with "things".
Sister's friend posted a clip from the concert. It seems that just before KR comes out they the opening segment to Journey's "Don't Stop Believing".

"Just a city boy...born and raised in..." and then they cut the audio so you can hear the entire crowd singing "SOUTH DETROIT". Then the spotlight hits KR and he breaks into one of his own songs.

Might as well have Vanilla Ice and Fred Durst come on stage and s hit in each other's mouths.

Patrice Pike was fat? Nice ink in any case. Just sayin.

La-de-#######-da

Close enough
I'd rather stay on a houseboat. Or at least somewhere where I can dip my toes in the water. That possible? Fancy places are wasted on me.
Ahem.

your face grasps the second part sorta annoys... your face. me.

I grew up in CA. it's weird as hell to me that I've never owned a car. but I also don't think I've ever met anybody here who thinks it's normal- relative to the rest of the country- not to own one. they do think it's nice not to have to own one.. and it's somewhat normal within the confines of the city not to- but I haven't met that person you're describing yet..

What are you, Travis McGee?

Just sent a note to proninja about the get-together, too.

I'm not sure Brit ever reads this, so hoping someone could notify him separately. I can do it but y'all know him better than I do.

To answer your question from a few rows up, yeah you're weird.
