Yeah he wasn't very nice to a lot of people. Especially ones that lived here first or were brought over here against their will on a crappy boat that probably wouldn't get a general murmer of agreement with K4's Boat Owners Association.Welp, I probably just winnowed down my stable of facebook friends by another 30 or so. Someone posted their outrage at Ol' Hickory being replaced on the $20 bill. Of course, they didn't quite go all the way and express their anger at WHO is going to replace him (one responder did, though, say "Amen! They're going after 'In God We Trust' next!"). I'm no history major, though I know enough about Jackson's life and presidency to know I'd rather have just about anyone on it than him.
I've driven the route in Indiana hundreds of times, and while it's a pain I have to tell you that the drivers there aren't anywhere near as bad as in Memphis, which has the worst drivers I've ever seen (and I'm including a lot of awful Asian countries in that).Drove back home from Nashville last night. Took I-65 through Indiana. What a terrible decision. Indiana has the worst drivers in the country. Driving like raving lunatics through multiple construction areas in the dead of night with a ####ton of traffic. My night vision and depth perception really suck these days, so that didn't help.
I didn't realize how hard i was holding onto the wheel until today, both forearms are hurting pretty good.
My daughter also played her first gig in Nashville on Weds. Slayed it.
My night vision has never been good and it gets worse every year - especially bad in the rain.Drove back home from Nashville last night. Took I-65 through Indiana. What a terrible decision. Thanks Krista! I have started taking a different route which is really nice, have no clue WTF got into me last night.I've driven the route in Indiana hundreds of times, and while it's a pain I have to tell you that the drivers there aren't anywhere near as bad as in Memphis, which has the worst drivers I've ever seen (and I'm including a lot of awful Asian countries in that).
Congrats to Daughter Pack! So cool. How is her teaching gig going?
Oh man, you're not kidding. Thankfully there was no rain, but it was a white knuckler anyway. My night vision has never been good and it gets worse every year - especially bad in the rain.
Combined with those damn cement dividers ...sheer hell
Why the heck did I think she was teaching? Anyway, that's fantastic that she has a job working in a studio. Following her dream! Thanks Krista! I have started taking a different route which is really nice, have no clue WTF got into me last night.
She was thinking of trying to get into PR-Marketing and took an internship but that went nowhere so she decided to concentrate an writing music and now she's getting paid for her work in a studio (It was an internship that turned into a paid position). Her boyfriend teaches and has talked about bringing her in to teach choir and teach the kids how to read music, but so far that hasn't materialized.
From where?I agree with Pack. All of my college roommates were from southern Indiana. They have a story about somebody running off the road or putting a car in a ditch for literally every curve of every country road for miles around their hometowns.
Ton of potential not doing that:Maybe get that kid a haricut?
Not much to live for there.Indiana has the worst drivers in the country. Driving like raving lunatics through multiple construction areas in the dead of night with a ####ton of traffic
I'm not rockin out to Cheeseburger in Paradise, but gimme He Went to Paris or Son of a Son of a Sailor and I'm happy.Oh bull####
I like "Come Monday", too. His shtickier stuff doesn't do a lot for me, though, which makes up 95% of his records.I'm not rockin out to Cheeseburger in Paradise, but gimme He Went to Paris or Son of a Son of a Sailor and I'm happy.
There were a ton of Bowie memorials. I think you're right in that being a bigger Bowie fan probably plays into your perception of the coverage. It's similar to the "announcers hate my sports team" or "my sports teams get no respect". I'm not criticizing you - we all tend to pay more attention to the things we like.Maybe it's because I'm drunk, but why am I so mad that the Prince Death is getting more attention than Bowie's death? It's probably because I like Bowie like 3x more. That might factor into it. Or maybe I just missed all the Bowie memorials. Maybe I shouldn't be drinking at 7am but eff it I'm a shift worker now.
Or "Cheeseburger In Paradise"Yeah, and Bowie didn't write "Manic Monday" either.
Two from Tell City, one from Henryville, one from Versailles, one from Brookville. Had a "suite (converted married student apartment) with 5 other guys freshman year, rented a house with 3 other guys the next couple of years. From where?![]()
Prince was more popular and was so more recently. Seems pretty simple.Maybe it's because I'm drunk, but why am I so mad that the Prince Death is getting more attention than Bowie's death? Plus the Bowie tributes are still happening. As a matter of fact, as I type, Magaw is still scouring the darkest, deepest corners of the Internet to make sure there isn't a Bowie clip that he missed linking here. There were a ton of Bowie memorials. Are you back for good?did @shuke actually shave in that lake? and if so, how bad was the ensuing rash?
gayI've watched Purple Rain a few times in the last couple of days. It was, of course, an awful movie outside of the music (and I'm excepting "Sex Shooter" from the "music"). But wow, I had forgotten how much I loved Prince.
I went to opening night in Louisville when the movie came out. Went with friends and was the only one who wasn't 17, but when do movie theaters ever check something like that? Well, that night they did. Wasn't going to be let in without a parent or guardian, and as we realized this while waiting in line I asked the guy in front of us if he'd pretend to be my dad. He did. Nevermind that he was about 23 years old and Latino, they let me in.
Muhammad Ali was sitting three rows in front of us. The movie didn't start on time, and Ali was doing magic tricks to entertain the crowd. No ####. Then the movie finally started and we all went nuts. It's hard to describe, if you didn't come of age during that time, how beloved Prince was - every female from the age of 10-70 was in love with him. I sure was. Hell, even my 72-year-old Mom has been crying the last couple of days over his death.
After the movie, we were walking to my friend's car and realized Ali was walking right in front of us. My friend went for his autograph (I didn't ask for one) and talked with him briefly. He was friendly and kind to these giddy, giggly teenagers.
Great night I've been reminded of the past few days. Damn, I loved Prince.
I liked him because he was a ginger. I don't know #### about him other than that.Welp, I probably just winnowed down my stable of facebook friends by another 30 or so. Just realized I'm not helping my cause much with this.I liked him because he was a ginger. I don't know #### about him other than that.
While my Purple Rain in the theatre experience didn't involve magic tricks, or even Ali now that I think about it, I did see PR in a theatre that was in a predominantly AA neighborhood. Stereotypes were met when someone stood up in the crowd and yelled 'SMACK THE #####, PRINCE' during the argument with Appalonia.
LOOK AT ME I GO TO GROUP FITNESS CLASSES!!!!!!!!!Rocked an Orangetheory fitness class today. May be catching the gay.
