don't drink booze.

don't eat after 7 PM.

get 30-60 minutes of continuous exercise in during the day.

turn off the tv/tablet/phone before you get in bed.

get your room temp regulated so that you aren't sweating or shivering in bed.

don't drink caffeine after noon.

that's a start. turning your brain off if you have anxiety or something... i don't have any suggestions for that.
Yup. These are great.

I would add 2 more:

-Make the room as dark as possible. If you have to, use a sleep mask. And if noise bothers you at all, either wear earplugs or get a white noise machine

-Routine is your friend. Try to go to bed and wake up at the exact same times every day. Your body will adapt and expect it over time, making it easier to both fall asleep and wake up.

:goodposting:

gotta get up at 6? try to be in bed every night by 10.

yo-yo'ing sleep & wake times is a recipe for disaster.

You just need a little dose of fun.

  • Go out and act like a kid.
  • Wipe your nose on your sleeve.
  •  Eat Cheerios out of a Baggie.
  •  Touch a urinal, then touch your face.
  •  Ride the back of a dog and pretend it's a pony
  • Get an ear infection.
  • Spit on a jellyfish.
  • Get a stuffed rabbit and name it Rabbit-O.
  • Touch penises with a neighbor.

Pretty cool factoid: Actress Hedy Lamarr invented a code-hopping radio signal device during WWII that was intended to be used on torpedos. The US Navy didn't use it in WWII due to the difficulty in utilizing the technology, but finally implemented it during the 60s. The idea is actually the basis for modern technologies like GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi.

Not that anyone in here cares, buuuut....It is a CRIME that they didn't let Tommy Wiseau talk when they hauled him up on stage during the Golden Globes a few minutes ago.  That would have been the most awesome car wreck ever.

"Oh, hai, Hollywood!"
I don't have a clue what any of this means.

(blows out) Fifteen years ago, this Tommy character made a movie that was so bad, it was awesome. The story of that trainwreck was turned into another movie, The Disaster Artist. James Franco won a Golden Globe for playing him. Invited him up on stage for his long-awaited moment of glory, then cut him off so he could finish his acceptance speech.

Preferably not this kind:

overheard at work this morning:

"I watched the Golden Globe... awards.. or whatever. It was great except for all those blacks up there."

When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity.

i've got a white noise app on my phone called "Relaxing Melodies".  Works pretty well after you figure out exactly which sound(s) you want.

I think it's @General Malaise who's doing the cobalt?

just jumped to this while googling "additive manufacturing" from reading the 3d printing thread....

GE chose the additive process for manufacturing the nozzles because it uses less material than conventional techniques. That reduces GE’s production costs and, because it makes the parts lighter, yields significant fuel savings for airlines. Conventional techniques would require welding about 20 small pieces together, a labor-intensive process in which a high percentage of the material ends up being scrapped. Instead, the part will be built from a bed of cobalt-chromium powder.
time to jump on the cobalt bandwagon if the nascent additive manufacturing industry is using it as a base.

It's only used sparingly, and GE has been using additive for years for these applications.  Not downplaying cobalt, but this particular application is not new.

so, after 6 years of a leaking dishwasher that I hated and physically and verbally abused, I finally decided to shoot the lock off my wallet and buy a new one.  my hesitation stems from my theory that anytime you allow a contractor into your house to fix/install something, it creates a butterfly effect where something else is destroyed/damaged and the cycle of death begins.

installer came with the machine yesterday, he looked and sounded confident and by golly, he absolutely killed it!  was organized, prepared and knocked it out in 1.5 hours.

didn't damage my floors or cabinets, didn't scratch the new machine.  tested it and leveled it.

feel like I dodged a bullet here.

The mechanic says my Buick needs new socks. Lyle insists he said “shocks.” But I know what I heard.

So, how's it hanging?  How was Krista's birthday at her new house?
Yeah, like that's gonna make it look like you've been paying attention when it could have been literally ANY day of the year your post would have been correct

Oh, and hey there bAbe!
