GM's thread about nothing (60 Viewers)

Inspired by GMTAN's FB shtick, I just dropped this on a female friend's page -

Whew! Glad to hear the test was negative!
:lmao: I love it.
I tried to grade papers tonight.

Brain said, "NO!"

So I opened a Guinness and poured a shot of Jamesons.

Brain said, "YES!"
I spent about 30 seconds too long trying to figure out who Brian was...
Me too....
Me three...
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone in the GMTAN world who let me muck up your world with some posts about my mother's stroke and sudden passing. It helped me to have an outlet. I sincerely appreciate the many condolences and PMs and emails (bit disappointed about no faxes, but whatevs).

Also, I'd like to pass along an excellent reading recommendation from K4.

The Long Goodbye: A Memoir

Lot of good people around here. Thanks for being good iFriends.

:blackdot: Pretty sure mom has stage 4 cancer. :(
Sorry. Can't think of anything better to say than cancer is the ultimate suck. Thoughts and prayers to you and your Mom.

I get emails sent to me all the time as Brain. Wife hates it when I point out that these people obviously know I am a genius. For all the other posts.T&P to everyone dealing with parents with cancer, going through a divorce and going through a divorce they don't know about yet (YSR)Congrats to everyone with new runts running around and those who don't know they will be having little runts running around (YSR).Oh Yes - We call it a Paci, which is usually short for "Where the #### is the ### #### paci, Paige needs to go to sleep!!". SIL used to call them Nookies until she found out that Fred Durst did it all for the Nookie.

:( Sorry to hear GB.

Is the term "safe word" used in a non-S&M context? Say, if you were on a conference call with the CEO and a bunch of others, would that be OK to use?
Green balloons?
Sconch<:finger:
What did you guys call pacifiers? Apparently we need a nickname. My sisters call them binkys, my gf was to call them bobos.
Stop with the pacifiiers/binkies now. Seriously. We didn't listen and used them with Cal. It was a GIANT PIA weening him off them, it made it impossible for him to sleep without one and I just got a $3900 bill for upcoming orthodontic work thanks to them jacking up his teeth. The funny thing is that it exposed us to his early genius because he had them hidden every where. You would take it away, he would throw a tantrum and then 5 minutes later he would have another one. It was like WTF?! We never gave one to Dylan and although it sucked at first, it was MUCH easier overall. If I contribute nothing else at all to the GMTAN, listen to me here GB.
Even though the scale says I've only gained two pounds in the last 3 months, my jeans say I'm doughier than a Sbarro double decker pizza slice. So I've cut out booze and incorporated the following work out program this week:

6:30-8:00 Wake up, take allergy medicines, vitamin and speed. Eat 2 probiotic yogurts.

8:00-8:30 Walk 4-6 miles.

11:00-12:00 Take more speed.

12:00-2:00 Eat lunch, a raw veggie salad, unless I'm entertaining.

4:00-5:00 Take more speed.

5:00-6:00 Walk 4-6 miles.

10:00-10:30 Take an Ambien.

Repeat
[Yoda]You'll be dead.

[/Yoda]
Meh, it was a good run. Leaving now.

SLB is right. You're giving your kid crack and teaching him to comfort himself by sucking on something (yeah, yeah). I never used it with my son and never had to deal with the weaning problem.

Agree with the anti-pacifier guys. We used them sparingly on both kids and it was no problem to just stop, especially with our first one. The new little guy has now taken matters into his own hands and just constantly sucks on his little blanket, which is now basically a pacifier so we're going to have to deal with that at some point, but the more you can avoid them the better.

Tanner > hey
I've never had anything against LHUCKS before. I just avoided him. Now I want to pummel him senseless.
It ain't his fault you suck at math, Pierre.
Alright, it's go time. All it'll take is three hits. Me hitting you and you hitting the floor!@#

Speaking of kids, I need a sanity check.

Are all 6 years olds difficult to deal with? We feel like our son has is going through some major changes lately, in terms of his behavior at home. Crying over little things, pouting, tantrums, etc. Plus he is extremely loud and sometimes seems very restless, like he can't just calm down. My wife is starting to talk about taking him to the doctor, but there is no way I want him medicated for any type of "hyperactivity". I think for the most part he's just being a kid.

He's doing awesome at school, not really getting into much trouble there or anything. It just seems lately, he doesn't want to listen to us, constantly arguing/debating everything we say.

Also, I have Stafford and Newton on bye this week. Here are my options:

Curtis Painter vs. ATL

Alex Smith @WAS

Matt Moore @KCC

John Beck vs. SFO

AJ Feeley @ARI if Bradford is out

:X

Can you make a case over Painter?
Smith has 7 TDs/1 INT over his last 4 starts.Painter has 1 TD/4 INTs over his last 3 starts.Redskins pass defense has allowed 4 TDs over the last 3 games but are trending downward (gave up 237 yards to PHI, then 256 to CAR, then 262 to BUF).Falcons pass defense has allowed 3 TDs over the last 3 games but are trending updward (gave up 396 yards to GB, then 237 to CAR, then 183 to DET).

Sounds like a mini-MOP. You might want to take a serious look at medication before he starts writing about "sandbox toys to exploit/avoid".

Enough of this trivial QB stuff. Start which 2 of the following DBs:George WilsonKam ChancellorYeremiah BellI'm more than willing to contribute the Rude Beer Fund.
wow. stacked lineup there. I'd probably sit Kam. Safeties haven't been doing that much against Dallas lately.

Pretty much owe all of my league dominance to you, Bramel and Norton. Keep up the good work.

Hulkbaby uses "nuk" for the pacifier and "B" for the blanket.

He doesn't use the pacifier much, but I just sent an email to PV to tell her that we need to stop thanks to SLB's comments.

4 days in, its helped keep our sanity. hes sleeping all day and awake basically all night screaming, even after being fed. extremely frustrating and hard to deal with every few hours.

You can deal with it now, while he's already screaming, or you can deal with it later, when he'll go from sleeping through the night to screaming again because you've taken away his fix.Of course, some kids just outgrow them. It does happen, though those cases do seem pretty few and far between.ETA: My wife and I swore we wouldn't use them, but our pediatrician actually suggested it, saying we'd have a much happier baby if we went to one. I'm intentionally avoiding the terminology she used so I don't have to fly to Ohio and put a foot in Homer's ###. Stupid doctors.

:goodposting:Zooks story was gold. :lmao:Bogart news was ungood. :(Then YSR brought a touch of levity back with "degree in Latin". ;)
I also have a minor in Ancient Greek. :thumbup:Hmm. I'm beginning to see why I'm not all that hireable.
Nonsense. You should be able to find a position as a motto writer for fraternities and sororities.

I was just wondering what someone might do with a degree in Latin and/or Ancient Greek. I guess the answer is not much?

:goodposting: Before I had kids, a baby crying was like birth control for me. However, you can kind of tune it out eventually after you get used to it. However, having your 1.5-2 y.o. pathetically cry out mama & dada, well, that's slightly harder to ignore.

I went to a Liberal Arts university, and there was no business major or anything like that. I declared English my sophomore year, then studied abroad in Greece, Turkey and Italy my junior year and came back with a renewed love of the Classics. Because I am a nerd at heart, I had been taking Latin and Greek courses as my "filler"" courses up to that point and was therefore able to switch majors late in the game and still graduate on time.Upon graduation, I moved to Atlanta, where there is a large alumni presence, and I was able to find work easily. I've not struggled with finding work since then (mostly been recruited from one job to another) until now. If I were to plug into my local alumni group, I'd likely be fine. And I'll likely do that today.

Any good Birthday stories to tell?
Drug mule for Donny and friends?
It's Donnie. He's not with my old company anymore, but don't think I haven't been trying to get him to hire me in SC. He seems really sadistically content in my being in Knoxville, though. I get a call from him every few days asking how the in-laws are.
