GM's thread about nothing (33 Viewers)

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a great flick. Not sure they're going to improve on the original. Rape scene was a bit much for my girl to handle but other than that solid flick.
AMEN! That was disturbing, but important IMO. My wife didn't appreciate that part either.

Very sickening to watch (harder for us females, I would imagine), but completely agree on its importance. So key to Salander's character.

Typical sports format, but it'll be 95% football once college and pros get started. We could throw some hockey picks in just for giggles.
I will have to think this over, mostly considering the timing. I'm central and 8am would collide with some prior commitments, but they can potentially be rescheduled. Give me a couple of days.
NP. We can always do it later in the show (but it ends at 10).

I reaaaallly, reaaaally wish there was a way to link to a Mental Health Break from Andrew Sullivan's blog that was posted on or about 17 Aug 2010 04:20 pm without getting this thread shut down. It's got something for everyone; a girl Shuke would love, literary references, a catchy tune, sci fi. It hurts my heart that I might be the only one that's seen it.
Bravo! "something wicked this way will come...and by come..." = fantastic.

Just reading up on some international movie sites... Looks like Rooney Mara (whoever that is) will play Lisbeth Salander. I know nothing about her, but at least they didn't pick Scarlett Johansson or Emma Watson, who were both in the discussion.

First day of school today
WAIT, WHAT?????
First day of school and Cal got sent to the principal's office. FML
:lmao:
<_< :lmao:
I'm sure everything is ok. He has always sounded like a good kid with possibly a little over-abundance of personality. Wonder where he could have gotten that from.
Yeah, no ####. Thanks GB and congrats again.

"Is there a problem?"

"Yeah, the problem is that you're ugly and fat"

I like the police tape and squad cars, like this was an armed robbery or something :lmao:
:lmao: What was he ticketed for? Not sure if this is a true story, Sammy.
True story. He was ticketed for disorderly conduct. And it was another customer, not the cashier. Stupid cheesehead reporting.
;) That read like a forwarded email from my Aunt Karen.

In all, the order cost me $45....If I can get 15 wears out of each shirt, that is still a pretty good deal.

Question for those from more rural areas:

I recently returned from a trip through northern PA, where I noticed that many, many homes have these weird orbs on pedestals in the front yard, sometimes as part of some garden display, sometimes not. They look like this, except there's just one per house usually. I'd say one out of every four or five houses had one of these things.

What's the deal? Are they there just for decoration, or do they serve some sort of purpose?

I think it is decoration, neighbor across the street wife is kinda of a ex-hippie type and has one in her side yard, the husband is a real estate lawyer. :useless:

I'd be cool with 6 wears. Dollar per.Even the most fleeting of memes is probably worth $6. The "I Want the Gold" thing is old, but I might get it just to wear on St Patty's day.

I think of the woot shirts, Python and Cookie Monster are still my favorites. :goodposting:
I showed those to my wife last night and her response was :goodposting: Took her a little while then she asked "Is that Cookie Monster?"

She never got the Python one. When I started to quote the scene, she just :goodposting: and walked away.
I think that's a good thing for you.
She has seen the movies, and we went to see Spamalot when it was in Chicago (told her it was the only musical I would see) so I was at least thinking something would click in her brain. Even after I told her it was from Python she was stumped.

Must be a U of I education at work.

So as to comply with board rules, let's just say that my wife did me a very nice favor last night. So I doze off afterwards, and THEN SHE STARTS TALKING TO ME ABOUT SOME BULL#### ABOUT HER PTO AND VACATION TIME BEING ROLLED TOGETHER. I'M TRYING TO TAKE A NAP.

Office is pretty quiet today, as per usual. Save for the guy a few cubes over who is having his twice-weekly phone conversation with his dad who lives several hundred miles away, is 80 years old, and has difficulty remembering things.

"Dad listen..there is no reason for an 80 year old man suffering from dementia to pull all $87,000 out of his checking account."

Awkward.

I wish someone did me a very nice favor. :lmao:
