GM's thread about nothing (11 Viewers)

Why can't you tell him the truth?
Because a large part of the reason I withdrew was that my interview with him indicated to me that they had no idea what they were doing, what they envisioned for the position, etc. He had absolutely no clue about anything he was doing.

Portland recruiter dude: "Unfortunate to hear that you are withdrawing. Is there a particular reason why and are there questions and/or concerns we may be able to help further address?"

I can't tell him the truth. What do I do? Lie? My e-mail to him just used the all-purpose "don't think it's the right fit", but apparently that wasn't enough.
Why? My understanding from prior posts is that they won't pay enough. I wouldn't have any problem letting them know that.ETA: Or what you said above... I would still let them know.

We didn't discuss salary, but given that I make here about what their CEO makes, I figure they won't. Thought that sounded a bit snobby to say to him, though.

Yeah, this. Sounds like a ####show there, guy.
This is the correct answer. :lmao: Oh how I'd love to type that at him!

Give me his number, I'll call him and tell him this.
Be sure to mention how he called me 20 minutes late, at the wrong phone number, and how the first thing he told me was that the title of the position had been downgraded (not what he said, but true) from what they had had in the job listing. And how when I asked him why, he had no explanation. Then tell him it's a ####show.

Seems like he could use the feedback if he's doing such a poor job as a recruiter.
I'm sure he could, but it seems too mean (and is not really my responsibility).

This, but maybe less blunt."I excel working in structured environments with clear boundaries and guidelines. While I could help set these for CompanyX, I don't feel that's the career direction I am looking for at this point.Oh, and your company and you are dickmittens."
:lmao: I like the "less blunt" approach.

trying to find the thread where the person wanted to email the employer they interviewed with and tell them they did it wrong... That should work for krista

I-Phone/Verizon question:What do I need to do to have my phone work while I'm in Kristagua for a week? Contact Verizon? Or is there a setting on my phone?
Do you really need a phone to work while there? There's a phone at the house with Julio's number programmed in if you need anything. You can also use it for other things if you need to, though I pay for the minutes so would appreciate if you limited that or just loaded it up with some more minutes. There's wireless internet at the house, so that will take care of your GMTAN needs. If there's something you specifically think you'll need a phone for, maybe do this but otherwise it seems like work/expense you don't need.
Just for emergency. Company phone, so cost isn't an issue. You had mentioned WiFi before, which can keep me connected with my I-Phone. However, I'm not bringing my laptop and will also attempt to browse on my Kindle Fire. Me trying to set a FF lineup on my I-Phone is a comedic experience. Hell, me trying to do ANYTHING other than call/text on a phone is an adventure.

ARE WE GONNA JUST LET THIS WHOLE GUSTER WEARING PAJAMAS THING GO?!?!?
No, we sure aren't.Was hoping he'd come in with an explanation.

There is a laptop for guests' use at the other house. I didn't get one for the new house, because people suck and break and/or steal things. But the other one is still at Camila, at least in October it was. Ask Julio to bring it to you after the Camila guests leave on the 10th.

I don't blame you. I think I'll be ok with the Fire/Phone combo, but will keep your offer in mind - thanks. How deep is that pool?

Made a quick visit to Sam's Club at lunchtime today to see what I've been missing. This is the third time I've done this in 5 years and the third time I've walked out of there being unimpressed. What is the allure of this place? Someone convince me it's worth paying a fee to shop there.
The only thing worth buying at Sam's is a certain type of dress/crew sock. No shtick. They are black with green thread at the toe. Best socks I've ever owned. That is the only reason I go there with my wife every 6mos or so.
I know their decorated birthday cakes are a good deal. Cake and socks. Don't think that's worth $40 a year.
We have memberships at both Sam's and Costco yet don't pay for either. The Costco account is through a company that my wife's uncles own. My mom decided to give us the Sam's Club account about 10 years ago for Christmas. She still pays for it even though I've told her she can cancel it any time she wants.

Costco is pretty awesome but the prices aren't great on everything.
The worst thing about Costco and Sam's is that they have decent prices on a very limited amount of merchandise. You like Chunky Soup? It's like $1.10 a can...if you like home-style chicken noodle. Cold cereal? We've got a price you can't beat...if you dig Frosted Cheerios. Some of their dry-goods prices aren't too bad. Things like laundry detergent or 409 or whatever are decent. But if you just check your nearby supermarket(s) for sales you can probably find a better deal.
We pretty much buy store brand for about everything but a handful of items. What about electronics, toys, etc?
I've never really shopped in depth for electronics there except when I was looking for a laptop. Once again the prices were decent but I didn't like the selection.

DO you have a Costco? I think they would fit your needs a lot better. Also, Costco's house brand "Kirkland" is very good and they make everything from soap to wine. THey also have a whole lot of organic things now and a lot of a more "upscale" type of products. Sam's is more for small businesses and Costco is more for general public (that makes at least 50K-75K). Much less riffraff in a Costco than Sams. Also, if it matters to you, Costco treats their employees much better than the Walton family. In Texas, you can go into either anytime without a membership to buy wine. That gives you a good chance to look around and see if its worth it to join.Things I get regularly at Costco: Organic Eggs $4/dz, grass fed heavy cream $3/qt, 4# frz organic blueberries $11, 2.5# fresh spinach $4, 6 heads romaine $3, batteries, linens, towels, vitamins, fresh organic valencia OJ $7 gal, paper products, soaps/cleansers (Kirkland brand), and wine.At Sam's I get kitchen suppiles/equip, Dining rooms supplies: tablecloths, smallwares, TVs, electronics, bulk flour, rice, sugar,The best thing about both stores is that since you are a member, you needn't keep receipts to do returns. They have all purchases recorded by your membership on their computers. And both places have great return policies. THat alone would make me go to either place, even if they were not cheaper.

Guster, did she reach through the hatch in the back of your pajamas to give you the handy?
