Three hours in to boys only weekend. Neither are wearing pants. Once has a bag of Doritos in hand, the other a bag of popcorn. I have a fine Austin Beerworks IPA and we're all watching Monsters Inc. Expert parenting 101 here. Slap it high?
:hifive:Was pretty much how my dad raised three boys when my stepmom was away.My younger brother is a successful engineer and upstart lawyer and he will still tell you one of his greatest days is when Dad let all of us watch "Rambo III" when he was about 9 years old.

 Bent, my best parenting trick for entertaining the boys was to take all my change and bury it in their sandbox. Those dudes would dig and dig and dig forever looking for 'treasure'. Then I'd hose off all the change, wait for them to forget about it and bury it again. Endless entertainment.

My mom watched this when I was home sick once. I think she was just like "YOLO."http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091877/

I'm at a bar. :hey: SLB. I have to go back to work, but I just decided to have a drink anyway. #### this ####.

Or two drinks. We'll see.

Great movie.Sam Stone: [answering the phone] Hello? Debbie? Yeah, Debbie's here, who's this? Well, Ralph, uh, Debbie can't talk right now, my ####'s in her mouth. How about if I have her call you back later when I'm done?Sam Stone: I love wrong numbers.

Semi-Official Uruk-Tumor Update:

Had some photos taken the other day and it appears that Dean Krzyzewski (my pet name for this *******, named after my two most-hated ACC coaches) MAY have shrunk a tad. Lucy Liu (I wish  ) still wants to nuke me come January (since I ain't doing it before then), but wants to ramp it up. Looking at a 5-day, 3 week blast of gamma rays. No biggie, as radiation doesn't do much more than make me a little tired (& I suspect some of that is mental).

Anyway, the following is a partial transcript of our conversation:

Lucy: Lump appears to have gotten smaller

Uruk:  What's next?

Lucy: Radiation and we will see after that

Uruk: Doc, tell me straight - do you think all of the drugs and alcohol I've ingested may have scared the #### out of the cancer?

Lucy: I will see you in five weeks
 GLGB... hope it keeps getting smaller
:goodposting:
Thanks, Gusher & Hocks. She's a stereotypical Chinese "nose-to-the-grindstone" type of lady with zero sense of humor. I was gonna make a joke about her driving, but will wait til I'm either done for or know I've got a chance.
2Something something Mexicans getting car insurance something something...

Congrats on the shrinking bulge.
Danke, guten GM.Cos, got an update for CosHole? Who's in and who's a female-body-part-we-can't-say-here?

Are we wearing lapel-tags with FBG handles/real names?
SLB contacted me today about his flights and two others have purchased their flights. Two are in Dallas and one in Houston and one in Austin- none of whom will be flying. THat leaves another 6-8 confirmed who have not yet made travel arrangements (to my knowledge). I I won't name names but two of them are females and the others are suspected female body parts.

I've been swamped lately, but will try and do a real update before long.

Also, there are a couple of gmtanners who would liek to come, but are having some atypical FBG money concerns.

I have a couple hundred in that FanBall or whatever thing. If someone wants to try and run that up to a total high to cover some airfares, I'd be happy to throw them the keys.

Homer was going to do it, but he's about as reliable as MOP in a movie theater.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: You never sent me your login info, jerkass!!!

You know how I've been working a lot? Well I haven't been home all week. You know how I said Cal has been acting up in school again ever since I got the neck brace off and I'm not home 24/7? Today was that day. The worst part is he owns up to everything he did, like push everything off of his IEP's desk, but can't explain why. :(

We were supposed to go out to dinner with several couples tonight. Had Scooterguy lined up and everything but I canceled. Mrs. SLB thinks we should have just gone. Cal had no knowledge of said plans. I made the right call right?
Maybe you and Cal could do a father/son night tonight? Let mom and the younger Wilt have a night to themselves while you and Cal grab some food and talk about life? I don't have any good answers, but every now and again, I believe some quality one-on-one time works wonders for parents/kids. I would bet he's expecting you to punish him or something (I don't know this for sure, so apologize if not the case) so perhaps surprising him with a night out of just you two might let him get some things off his chest, see you in a different light, something...I don't really know, GB.
He came home scared, but I didn't yell. He can't help himself, I can't get angry about that but of course I'm upset. He's on meds that I was hoping we could be taking him off soon. I sat and talked to him twice now. I at least have him calmed down. One of the things he was pissed about was he overheard me (the kid has crazy good hearing) say he was getting spoiled at school by all of the extra help. He was upstairs watching TV at the time and we were in the kitchen. Having him in the house is like being tapped by the feds. Father/son night sounds good but that's rewarding bad behavior and would be bad reinforcement for him. I try to spend as much time as possible, heck all day last Friday with both of them.

Now Dylan is being a jerkoff too. I think staying home was certainly the right call. Parenting is fun!!!!

Congrats again YSR & GPJ!!!!

One of my favorite movies.

Glass #2 poured.

My boss is meeting with CEO at 5. Figure he'll come chat with me afterwards. Chances of my throwing my iPhone (blackberry? Plz) down and storming out in anger? As my friend Pete used to say, "It's 50/50. It might happen, and it might not, so it's 50/50."

Pete is the same one I learned the "find a random pill on the floor, pop it in your mouth and see what happens" move from.

Man, you guys jinxed me. I planning on stopping off at my drinking spot on the way home but my son just texted me. There's a water leak somewhere in my kitchen and he can't figure out where it is coming from. :wall:

Racist
IT'S OK... I'm a bald white guy too.
:hifive: #baldteam
You start out like thisand never dream of this

:fro: either way ;)
Whoa, who's the hot chick? ETA, the adult chick. Homer will be along shortly....
I'll take both, but thanks for looking out for me.

I wish it was that easy. Our plumbing is for ####. It seems like once a month I'm fixing/replacing/rigging something.

K4--since you're drinking, maybe you can answer this.

I haven't looked for a position in a firm for 13 years. I've been contacted by a national firm to meet and discuss their Seattle office. I've talked to the partner who's traveling here twice...both times, it's vague but positive. We're meeting on the 11th, but I don't know if this is a job interview, an of-counsel thing, contract work or what.

Tried to smoke out what they wanted today, but there still isn't anything more concrete than, "we're very interested in working with you and expanding our Seattle practice."

Is this normal?

This deserves a non-drinking reply. Tomorrow?I need to go back to the office but would like to continue drinking. To-go cup?

Now same guy is saying he's not racist. First sign you're a racist? Having to state that you're not racist.
Try being a 6 foot tall bald white guy of German heritage. Only thing I'm missing is the I  Hitler sweatshirt.
I look so ####### German that while in any country with a language of possibly Germanic origin, I'm constantly stopped for directions. Might as well get my Sieg Heil (GM sp?) button.

You deserve a roadie.

Parenting update - we are watching the neighbors dog while he's out of town. Yuke is playing in the birdbath. JR is hanging off a ladder on the back porch. I'm raiding the backyard beer fridge.

SLB - Following the Cal situation closely. As we've discussed, JR has a lot of days like that w his sensory integration stuff. I usually feel bad punishing him since he's not really in control but you can't just ignore it.

On this third drink, I asked for half a glass. I don't think this is half a glass.

Man, I hear you.Sucks, was going to be with hot, drunk chicks and GB's tonight. If you're following along on FB, that profile pic of K.L. doesn't do her justice. She really needs to change it.

First post of page 1969, huh?

our deal is each week i cook 5-6 nights. wife is responsible for Friday and Friday only. she has to come up with a dine-out option, bring something home or, on very rare occasions, cook.

EVERY friday she calls on her way home from work and does her damndest to trick me in to making the decision for her. EVERY friday. every week it's a new angle. :wall:

every week i remind her that i'm not falling for the trap. almost always results in her = :hot:

She wants me to come.

What should I give my niece who is about to turn 1? She's the first baby of this generation for either family so she'll be spoiled rotten with "things". She's also only 1 so not like she'll remember if I get her a super cool toy or take her somewhere awesome. Kind of stumped here. Help.
A solemn promise that you will never give her relationship advice...ever.
Even when Homer is sexting her?

Why don't you sit down every Sunday together and plan out all meals for the week including bring home/eat out? That's what we do. That way we never have a night where we sit on the couch and stare at each other and figure out what we want.Cooking 5-6 nights a week? Do you have some kind of Pick-style setup?

I'm able to pitch in to a GMTAN Flight Fund. It can all be on the QT (for you folks not of AARP age, Tanner will be able to tell you what this means).
I'd be willing to help out too
